You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 236-Don’t believe it!
After watching the sunrise, the two rented a stylish and cool off-road vehicle, preparing for a road trip.
Then, they had dinner—an elegant candlelit dinner by the sea.
The cool sea breeze, the soothing sound of waves gently crashing against the rocks, the romantic candlelight, delicious dishes, fresh coconut juice, intoxicating red wine, and most importantly, the person sitting across from her, who had captured her heart.
Everything was perfect.
Not too much, not too little—everything was just right.
During dinner, the two of them hardly spoke. The atmosphere was simply not one for words; it was a moment meant to be quietly enjoyed.
They opened a bottle of red wine and drank it all. On the way back to the hotel, they strolled hand in hand.
The handsome man and the charming woman were truly a beautiful sight.
Laurent wore a bright peach-colored long dress, a royal blue necklace, and matching long earrings. Her entire look was full of vibrant tropical charm, so strikingly beautiful that it reminded one of the saying "the peach blossoms are reflected in the face."
After returning to the hotel and freshening up, Laurent curled up in bed and chatted with Vivian and the others in their group chat. Vivian asked her:
"Laurent, how was the first day of your trip? Did Dave make you cry?"
Laurent couldn’t help but laugh when she saw Vivian’s message. She could easily imagine Vivian on the other end, gleefully waiting to see Dave get mocked, waiting to see him be rejected, waiting to watch him get embarrassed.
But in reality, ever since they left Burg Eltz, Dave had been perfect. There was hardly anything she could complain about.
However, she still decided to tease Vivian and, holding back a laugh, replied with one word:
"Yes."
Vivian immediately became curious and asked:
"Come on, tell me."
Vivian couldn’t wait to hear how Dave had been made fun of.
Laurent replied:
"When we were in bed."
Vivian responded with a rolling eyes emoji, then sent a voice message, accusing Laurent:
"Whoa! Laurent, you’re blatantly flaunting your happiness!"
Laurent couldn’t stop laughing at the message.
She was telling the truth. During their passionate encounter in the morning, she had been completely worn out by him. She was practically on the verge of crying from all the demands he made on her. She had no idea where he got all that energy and strength to turn her over and over again. She felt like she was going to fall apart. In the end, she had to hold his face in her hands, kiss him fiercely on the lips, and only then did he finally release her and let her go.
Marylin formally protested:
"Please consider the feelings of the other two single dogs, okay?"
Zoey also sent a sneaky laughing emoji, indicating that Laurent’s response was too daring and over the top.
Laurent laughed as she replied to them:
"It’s not my fault, it’s Vivian who insisted on asking."
The truth was, she wasn’t deliberately trying to show off or say anything provocative. She just thought Vivian’s question was funny, so she responded with equal amusement.
They had all been playfully teasing each other for a long time, and she herself was a bit quirky, usually with Vivian in charge of livening up the atmosphere. It had all become second nature.
Vivian snorted:
"I knew you would answer like this, I shouldn’t have asked you."
Marylin teased Vivian:
"Vivian, now you can give up. From now on, just wish Laurent and Lord Washington well."
Vivian responded with an eye roll.
Zoey also chimed in:
"Laurent and Lord Washington have finally weathered the storm and seen the rainbow. Vivian, don’t make things difficult for Lord Washington anymore."
Vivian rolled her eyes in response.
Because Zoey mentioned the rainbow, Laurent remembered the beautiful sight they had seen in the evening. Excited, she shared the story with them and sent over the photo of the rainbow she had taken.
Vivian angrily replied:
"Friendship over! It’s too sweet, I can’t handle it."
Everyone laughed again.
Vivian stubbornly refused to give her blessing to Laurent and Dave, only saying, "This is just the first day, there’s more to come."
Marylin and Zoey teased Vivian endlessly, but no matter what, Laurent could feel the blessings coming from them. Just as she wished for each of them to find happiness, they surely hoped she would find hers too.
Dave came out after taking a shower and saw her laughing while holding her phone. He leaned over, trying to see what she was chatting about and with whom.
"Who are you talking to?"
"Vivian and the others."
Laurent replied, then took the phone away to prevent him from seeing it. Tonight’s conversation mostly revolved around him, and with the provocative topics she had mentioned earlier, she couldn’t let him see what they had talked about.
If the chat had been about something else, Laurent wouldn’t have minded showing him her phone, but this time, it wasn’t possible.
However, her evasive behavior made Dave suspicious, and he squinted at her.
"Really?"
Laurent responded confidently:
"Of course, who else would I be chatting with?"
Dave snorted, "Isn’t it with the guy who got you back on the headlines?"
Dave had never gotten over the incident where Laurent and Leonardo made the headlines. He couldn’t shake the feeling that, although she and Leonardo had no relationship, it still irked him. It bothered him that she and another man had made the news, while they hadn’t even been in the spotlight together. Even now, the thought of it made him feel uneasy.
He felt that he needed to get them both on the headlines together, and it had to be a bigger deal than the time she made the news with Leonardo, to feel that balance in his heart.
He referred to Leonardo as "the guy who got Laurent on the headlines," with a hint of sarcasm in his tone. Moreover, he didn’t believe that Laurent was really chatting with Vivian and the others. This made Laurent lose her temper.
"Do you really have to be so sarcastic? Just because you’re restless doesn’t mean everyone else is too. I wasn’t talking to any other man!"
The implication was that because he was restless and wanted to be with other women, he thought she was doing the same.
Dave’s face darkened, and he asked in a low voice:
"I’m restless? What do you mean by that?"
His gaze was intense as he pressed the question, and Laurent decided to say everything that had been bothering her.
"Are you saying you didn’t look at those women in bikinis on the beach earlier?" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Earlier, when they were watching the rainbow at the beach, the sand was crowded, and among the crowd, there were plenty of women in bikinis excitedly running toward the water. Some eyes were definitely focused on them.
Also, when they were walking back, Laurent noticed how many people turned their heads to look at them. She assumed it was mostly because of him.
Dave laughed with frustration.
"Do you believe me if I say I didn’t look?"
He had indeed glanced at those women, but it wasn’t because he was interested in their sexy bodies. It was because he found their loud and raucous behavior distracting. The beauty of the rainbow after the rain deserved to be appreciated in silence.
His true feelings were that Laurent was the most alluring and seductive woman in his eyes.
Laurent snorted coldly and answered him without hesitation,
"Don’t believe it!"
