You're Just My Ex-Husband,My Lord-Chapter 85- I said is true!
Vivian hurriedly explained with a guilty smile,
"Hehe, it was me who told him to give Leonardo your number."
Laurent looked at Vivian helplessly, unsure of what to say.
She knew that Vivian was trying to get her and Leonardo together, but didn’t Vivian, as one of her best friends, already know how she felt about Leonardo?
However, when she thought about how Leonardo hadn’t contacted her at all, she couldn’t help but feel a bit relieved.
"Well, since you two have already given him my new number and he hasn’t called, it’s clear he doesn’t want to contact me. So please, you two, don’t do things like this in the future!"
Vivian and Frank exchanged glances but didn’t say anything more.
Because they had heard that Leonardo hadn’t contacted Laurent, they weren’t sure what Leonardo’s feelings toward Laurent were now.
Frank and Leonardo were good friends, and whenever Leonardo wasn’t busy with filming or other work, the two would catch up.
Vivian had heard Frank mention before that Leonardo hadn’t forgotten about Laurent. Every time they hung out, Leonardo would always ask Frank about her. Once, after drinking, he even called her name out loud for most of the night.
So when Laurent and Dave got divorced, they immediately told Leonardo the news and gave him Laurent’s new phone number.
They both thought that Leonardo, although currently abroad for an ad shoot or something similar, should have at least called, even if he didn’t have time to return.
However, when Laurent told them that Leonardo hadn’t called, they were both at a loss.
Laurent, considering that Vivian was still in her postpartum recovery period and didn’t want to disturb her rest, didn’t stay long. After a brief chat with Vivian and a quick look at the baby, she took her leave.
Before she left, Vivian warmly invited her,
"Laurent, although you’re not in the city anymore, after the month is over, we’re having a full moon party. You have to come!"
"I will definitely come, don’t worry."
Laurent replied affirmatively. How could she not come? Vivian was such a close friend, and she wouldn’t miss her baby’s full moon party for anything.
Besides, when Laurent had her own baby and held a full moon party, Vivian had attended.
Dave had left the room at first, but later returned. When it was time to leave, he was also present, yet no one invited him.
As for Vivian, it was clear she didn’t welcome him, so there was no invitation.
As for Frank, he figured that Leonardo, his buddy, would definitely attend, so he didn’t invite Dave either.
Frank also felt that since they were all Laurent’s friends and now that she and Dave were divorced, there was no reason to invite him. There was no awkwardness in not inviting him.
In the hospital parking lot.
Laurent felt that her interaction with Dave should end here for the day. He was taking their daughter home, while she planned to take a taxi to the bus station and head back home.
She initially thought that taking the bus with her daughter to the city would take a long time, especially since she would then need to take a taxi to the hospital, then another to drop her daughter off at Tiffany’s, and finally chat with Tiffany. It would be a long day. So, she had planned to take the last bus in the afternoon to save some time. However, with the time saved from Dave driving, she figured she could take the earliest bus and get home earlier.
She still had work tomorrow, so it would be good to get back and prepare.
However, Dave looked at her and, without giving her a chance to refuse, said,
"I’ll take you to the station."
She politely smiled,
"No need, I can take a taxi myself."
He stubbornly insisted, even walking over to open the car door.
"Get in!"
Laurent was speechless.
What was his deal? Did he just love being a chauffeur?
And what about his weekend plans? Didn’t he have any social events? Since yesterday when he dropped their daughter off at her house, he had been sticking around them. She couldn’t remember seeing him so leisurely on weekends before.
The little girl, who had been standing between them, noticed the tension building again. She raised her hand and tugged at Laurent’s sleeve.
"Mom, let Dad take you to the bus station."
Laurent instantly lost her temper
The little girl was her kryptonite. As soon as she spoke, Laurent couldn’t refuse.
So, she ended up riding with Dave to the bus station.
Once they arrived, Laurent politely thanked him, then turned around to hug her daughter. She sat with her on the back seat, saying,
"Sweetheart, mommy will come see you again next week."
But the little girl suddenly pouted and began to cry, clinging to her and not letting go.
"Mom, I don’t want you to go..."
Laurent’s heart ached, but she could only suppress her sorrow. She leaned down and kissed her daughter several times, gently soothing her.
"Emma, don’t cry. A week will go by really fast. It’s only five days. Every morning when you wake up, count the days. When you get to six, mommy will come see you. Okay?"
The little girl stretched out her small hand, counted on her fingers, then held up her palm to her.
"Is five days this many?"
"Mm..."
Laurent almost couldn’t hold back her tears. She hugged the little girl tightly, then quickly pulled away.
"Mommy has to go now. Bye, sweetheart."
She quickly pushed open the car door and got out.
If she stayed in the car any longer, continuing to cling to her daughter, she would really cry.
She truly didn’t want to leave her daughter.
Dave followed, pushing open the car door and getting out as well. Seeing the redness around her eyes, he let out a cold snort.
Laurent knew exactly what that snort meant—he was disdainfully expressing: "See? You got a divorce, now you’re both in pain."
Laurent knew he would react like this. He always thought the divorce was her fault, that she was being unreasonable and stirring up trouble. He always believed he was in the right.
Laurent had no mood to argue with him about this now. If he thought he was right, then so be it. He could keep believing that.
Standing in front of the car, Laurent gave him a quick glance.
"Thanks for today. Goodbye."
She then lowered her head, preparing to walk past him.
But Dave grabbed her arm, stopping her. Out of nowhere, he said,
"The last thing I said was true."
Perhaps it’s true that after spending so much time together, they had developed a tacit understanding. Even though he awkwardly said that sentence, Laurent knew exactly what he meant.
He was referring to the last time he had sent her a text, saying that he would never love her in this lifetime, and that it had been a moment of anger.
She hadn’t replied to him back then.
Now, he was emphasizing again that it was true—that it had been his momentary anger.
However, Laurent thought that when someone says something in a fit of rage, it’s often what they truly want to express deep inside.
In other words, so-called "angry words" are actually the most instinctive form of resistance deep within them, held back by rationality in normal times, which is why they’ve never been released.
But in a moment of anger, everything bursts out, breaking the chains of reason. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
So, she believed that when he said he would never love her, it was truly his most honest thought.
She pulled her hand out of his grasp, offering a faint smile.
"I understand."
Then, she turned around again, ready to leave.
He grabbed her again, this time with more force than before, his tone heavier, tinged with anger.
"You don’t believe that what I said is true!"
Dave was irritated by her calm and indifferent attitude.
He had been thinking about that statement for a long time, so he deliberately stopped her to explain. But to his surprise, her reaction was so indifferent, clearly not believing that it had been just a moment of anger.
Laurent shook off his hand, gave a soft smile, and calmly looked at him.
"What does it matter if I believe it or not? What difference does it make?"
What was the point of debating whether it was true or not?
They were still ending up with a divorce, weren’t they?
