Chapter 95: Chapter 95- Cat

And after that, Vexmond raised his hand and ordered all his subordinates to stand down. Thankfully, no one had died, only Alex lay dead on the floor. The tense atmosphere began to lift as the fighting ceased.

Julian’s girls rushed in, their faces filled with shock.

Aya gasped the moment she saw him. "Julian, w-what happened to your face?!"

Veronica gently cupped his bruised cheeks with both hands, worry in her voice. "Ahh... your handsome face ended up like this..."

Julian gave a faint smile despite the pain. "It’s nothing. Just a few scratches."

Emma crossed her arms, unconvinced. "Scratches? You’re beaten to a pulp!"

But before she could finish her sentence, her eyes fell on Vexmond, who looked even worse than Julian. His face was swollen, his body trembling, blood dripping from several wounds.

Emma paused, blinked, then simply said, "...Oh."

Then Celestia stepped forward and said, "Use the potion Clint gave you."

Julian nodded and reached into his inventory, drinking one himself before tossing another toward Vexmond.

"For you," Julian said flatly. "So you can live a little longer."

Vexmond caught it, his lips curling into a small smile. "How generous," he murmured before drinking it.

Clarissa knelt beside Julian, gently wiping the blood from his face with a cloth. "Since when did you two get so friendly?" she asked with narrowed eyes.

Veronica chimed in, her arms crossed. "Right? Weren’t you about to destroy this whole base?"

Julian leaned back against the wall and sighed. "I’ve already avenged what needed to be avenged. No point in going further."

Emma, still tense, suddenly sniffed the air. "I smell a new woman."

Veronica raised a brow and nodded. "I noticed it too."

Julian didn’t even bother responding to that and instead said, "Let’s get out of here first. We need rest."

But then Vexmond spoke again, voice hoarse but firm. "You’re welcome to stay here tonight... if you wish."

Julian glanced at his team, then gave a nod. "We’ll take you up on that."

Julian and the others were finally escorted to their rooms. The man leading them was one of the guards who had blocked Julian before he met Vexmond.

He wore a biker-style jacket, his arms inked with intricate tattoos. His sharp black eyes glared beneath messy blue hair as he grumbled under his breath, "Why the hell do I have to escort these damn troublemakers...?"

The group exchanged glances, choosing not to respond to his muttering.

"This is your room," he said coldly, gesturing toward the door before turning on his heel and walking off without another word.

Veronica dashed into the room and leapt onto the bed with a gleeful shout. "Wooah! Finally, a mattress! Goodnight!"

Emma rolled her eyes. "Hey, not so fast! We need to shower first!" she scolded, grabbing Veronica by the waist and pulling her back up.

Clarissa walked in, scanning the space. "Wow... this room is huge."

Celestia flicked a switch and the lights came on. "Looks like the electricity’s working too."

Aya nodded in amazement. "Incredible... A building this big has its own power system."

Julian stepped in, quietly closing the door behind him. "Let’s rest for now."

Celestia turned to him, slightly concerned. "Are you sure it’s safe? I mean, with the way these people still look at us with hostility..."

Julian leaned against the wall, arms folded. "It’s fine. I’ve seen enough of Vexmond to understand what kind of man he is."

Celestia gave him a small nod. Trusting him.

Then Julian asked, "Is the bathroom spacious?"

Veronica replied with a small smile, "Yes, it’s really spacious."

Julian nodded thoughtfully. "Alright, then let’s bathe together."

Everyone froze for a moment.

"Hold on," Aya said quickly, "You need to recover first!"

Julian smirked and leaned back slightly. "I can recover faster if we all bathe together."

A collective sigh escaped from the group as they exchanged tired, bewildered glances, unsure whether to be annoyed, amused, or simply resigned.

Then they all took a bath together, followed by a bit of "exercise" in both the bathroom and the bed, which left them completely exhausted and fast asleep afterward.

Then, suddenly, Julian woke up and realized it was still the middle of the night. He got up quietly, stepped outside to relieve himself, and once finished, decided to take a short walk down the hallway. But as he walked along the dim corridor, he felt something—or someone—watching him.

He stopped. Slowly, he looked up... and there, clinging to the ceiling, was a humanoid figure.

A girl?

No—she had cat ears twitching slightly and a long, feline tail that moved as if it had a life of its own. Her glowing blue eyes locked onto his, shimmering like a predator’s in the dark.

Before he could react, she leapt from above and tackled him to the ground. Startled, Julian struggled, but the catgirl straddled him and began sniffing him like an actual feline.

"H-Hey! Calm down," Julian muttered, trying to push her off.

But she continued sniffing him, her nose brushing along his collarbone and neck. Up close, Julian could see her clearly, long black hair flowing down her back, soft pale skin, large bright eyes, and a well-proportioned, slender figure. Her chest pressed slightly against him as she moved closer.

Then, without warning, she started licking his cheek like a cat grooming her own.

"Whoa, okay—stop that!" Julian protested, using some force to separate her from him.

He sat up, keeping a cautious distance and asked, "Are you a skill user?"

The catgirl tilted her head, saying nothing. Her ears twitched again, but she looked genuinely confused—as if she didn’t understand what he was asking.

Julian sighed. "Alright, alright... you don’t seem dangerous. Come on."

Seeing as she refused to leave his side, Julian led her back to his room. She clung to his arm like a lost kitten, and once inside, she curled up near him. Eventually, Julian lay back down and tried to get some sleep—with the strange catgirl lying quietly beside him.

The next morning, Julian was woken up by Clarissa, who gently nudged him and said, "It’s morning already."

Julian opened his eyes and looked around. The mysterious girl from last night was gone.

Maybe it really was just a dream, he thought.

Afterward, they all got ready and headed toward Vexmond’s office. When they arrived, they heard voices arguing from inside.

Still, Julian pushed the door open and entered, seeing the man who had guided them to their rooms yesterday. Beside him stood another man in a neat suit, wearing glasses, giving off a serious and respectable aura.

Upon seeing Julian, Vexmond gave a faint smile. "Did you all sleep well?" he asked.

They all nodded in reply, and Julian stepped forward. "We’re going to continue our journey today."

Vexmond seemed like he wanted to say something, but the blue-haired man beside him spoke first. "Think carefully, Boss. We can’t just leave it all to those thugs."

The man with glasses added, "He’s right, Boss. We need to be more cautious. Let Theo and me take care of it."

But Vexmond raised a hand to silence them. "This is my decision," he said firmly. "So don’t speak further."

The two men fell silent and nodded respectfully.

Then Julian asked, "Is there something you want?"

Vexmond nodded, his face serious. "Yes, I need you to do something for me."

Julian folded his arms. "I don’t do favors for free."

Vexmond let out a tired chuckle. "Of course not. I’ll give you something valuable in return. Just hear me out first."

Julian stared at him for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, go on."

Vexmond took a breath. "There’s someone I want you to kill. That person is currently hiding in a certain location. So, what do you say? Interested?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Julian paused, thinking for a moment. "What’s the reward?"

Without another word, Vexmond turned toward the doorway. "Zoe, come in."

A figure stepped into the room. Julian’s eyes widened slightly as he recognized her—

It was the same catgirl who had snuggled against him before...

But now, her ears and tail were gone.

Zoe’s expression was different from yesterday. It was flatter now, emotionless, almost unreadable. Then Vexmond stepped forward and said, "This is my daughter."

Zoe spoke next, her tone calm and devoid of emotion. "Nice to meet you. My name is Zoe Kruger."

Everyone gave a small nod in return. Julian raised an eyebrow. "You’re giving your daughter to us as a gift?"

Vexmond quickly tried to clear the misunderstanding. "No, it’s not like that. Zoe possesses a unique skill [Beast]. It allows her to transform into and control animals. But there’s a downside. At night, her body becomes more feral, more beast than human. We’ve tried everything to cure her, but nothing has worked."

He looked at Zoe with a heavy gaze.

"Every night, she manages to slip away, and it terrifies us. We’re always afraid she won’t come back. Thankfully, she has, so far. But yesterday, something changed. When she transformed... she didn’t run away. Instead, she came to you, Julian. For some reason, her wild side seems drawn to you."

Vexmond turned back to Julian with resolve in his eyes.

"That’s why I’ve decided to entrust her to you."
