Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Am I Late? The Former ’God’ Is Dead

"Huh?!"

Upon hearing Issho’s words, everyone present—save for Robin and Carina—wore expressions of utter shock.

"How is that possible?!"

War Demon Wiper couldn’t help but exclaim, his heart instinctively filled with profound doubt. He, better than anyone, knew how terrifying the strength of the man who called himself "God" truly was. Even fighting with every ounce of his soul, he hadn’t been able to defeat him. If he hadn’t recently forged Seastone equipment, he wouldn’t have even dreamed of using Impact Dials and a suicide play to take Eneru down. That was the only method Wiper could devise, and he had already prepared to die for it.

However, it then occurred to him that this powerful man from the Blue Sea had no reason to deceive him. Such a lie would be meaningless. And if what he said was true... didn’t that mean the Shandia’s greatest enemy had been dealt with by another powerhouse from the Blue Sea?

Just as the War Demon’s heart began to waver...

"Hmm? They actually arrived together."

At that moment, Issho suddenly turned his head, a clear hint of confusion in his tone.

"What?"

The crowd looked on, puzzled, not understanding what he meant. Then, in the next second—

Whoosh!

The sound of rushing air sliced through the silence. A figure suddenly appeared atop the roof of a bungalow near the group.

"Quite a lively gathering."

Seeing the crowd assembled on the beach, Will stood on the roof with his hands in his pockets, chuckling calmly. "Am I late?"

While the others remained stunned, only Issho stayed composed, replying with a steady smile, "No, you’re just in time, Captain."

Wiper looked up at the tall man who had suddenly appeared. Even just standing there, the man exuded a terrifying aura of strength. A powerful presence emanated from him, giving Wiper the chilling sensation that if he were to attack now, he would be instantaneously cut down.

However, before he could speak—

Zzzzt!

The crackle of electricity rang out. Blue-white lightning began to flash beside the man, quickly condensing into a tall figure.

A white headscarf, elongated earlobes, shirtless... four drums adorned with tomoye patterns on his back, and a golden staff in hand. Whether it was Gan Fall and the Skypieans or Wiper and the Shandia, they recognized the newcomer instantly.

The crowd erupted in a shocked chorus: "Eneru?!"

"Hmm?" Hearing the people below shouting his name, Eneru, eyes half-closed, idly scratched his ear. "It’s me. Why are you all yelling so loudly?"

Having been miserably defeated by the man standing next to him, he no longer had the desire or the stamina to play games with these weaklings.

Unlike Gan Fall, who could still think somewhat rationally, Wiper found it impossible to suppress his rising fury. He immediately hoisted the burn bazooka he carried, aiming it at the rooftop with a grimace. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"It seems you Blue Sea people have sided with Eneru!" he roared. "You just said you dealt with him, yet here he stands, perfectly fine!"

The Shandia warriors behind him didn’t hesitate; they raised their weapons in unison. Among them, a calmer young girl looked at the angry expressions of her tribesmen and could only helplessly go with the flow.

"This..." Issho frowned slightly, immediately attempting to explain. "This old man did indeed sense the Captain fighting someone. That person’s presence temporarily vanished for several seconds before reappearing. Even I was puzzled by it."

He turned to Wiper, advising him kindly, "However, Mr. Wiper, I suggest you calm yourself. Do not act impulsively."

In Issho’s view, while the Captain was usually easy-going, if one were to truly anger him, the consequences would be more than ordinary people could bear.

"Oh? It seems the one who blocked my thunderclouds earlier must be this tall, middle-aged man," Eneru remarked, completely ignoring Wiper’s provocation. He looked at Issho with curiosity, silently confirming his suspicions.

Beside him, Will finally spoke up. "Dealt with Eneru? That is correct. Because I did kill him once."

"It’s just that this guy’s Devil Fruit ability is quite formidable; he managed to restart his heart and revive himself with lightning."

A look of realization dawned on Issho’s face. "So my senses did not fail me. To be able to self-resuscitate through lightning... such an ability is truly powerful."

However, Wiper, far past the point of calm, instinctively doubted the explanation. He tightened his finger on the trigger, growling, "Then why did you bring him here?! Why didn’t you just—"

"Shut up."

Before he could finish, Will’s expression darkened. A red glint flashed in his eyes.

Buzz—!

In the blink of an eye, a vast, crushing aura surged from Will’s body. It enveloped all the Shandia present, focusing with pinpoint intensity on Wiper.

"Who gave you the courage to question me in such a tone?" Will asked coldly. "Do you not know that when you lack strength, you should not rashly provoke those more powerful than you?"

"You might not fear death, but what about your tribesmen behind you? Do you wish for them to die because of your impulsivity? Or do you simply not care about their lives at all?"

Will actually admired Wiper—the warrior from the original story who was willing to sacrifice everything to nearly kill Eneru. However, Wiper’s overly impulsive nature and his tendency to disregard the safety of his people when blinded by rage disgusted him. He didn’t care for the nonsense; he decided to force the man to be quiet using his Haki.

Will’s direct approach was remarkably effective.

Wiper, previously consumed by rage, sobered up instantly under the weight of that terrifying pressure. He was frozen in place, unable to move a finger, a flicker of genuine fear appearing in his eyes. He wasn’t afraid for his own life, but he was terrified that his hotheadedness would get his people killed. The Shandia were willing to die to reclaim Upper Yard, but they shouldn’t die here for nothing.

"This guy..."

Eneru, standing closest to Will, sensed the overwhelming aura through his Mantra. Even though it wasn’t directed at him, a bead of cold sweat rolled down his forehead. This aura felt hauntingly similar to the fatal blow Will had dealt him earlier. Compared to that strike, this aura was more dispersed, yet no less intimidating. He realized this must be the unique power Will had mentioned.

Thinking of Will’s promise to teach him this power, a glimmer of anticipation sparked in Eneru’s eyes.

Seeing the standoff, Nami, standing near Issho, quickly stepped forward to ease the tension with a smile.

"Um... Will, calm down. These people are probably just on edge because they saw Eneru so suddenly. I’m sure they don’t mean any harm."

She wasn’t worried that the Shandia could hurt Will, nor did she think Will would actually slaughter them. She knew him too well. She was simply playing her part to de-escalate the situation.

Gan Fall also stepped forward, pleading, "I am very sorry, Mr. Will. The Shandia did not intend to offend. Please, show mercy."

"So his name is Will..." Eneru thought. He hadn’t bothered to ask for his name before, but now he knew.

Seeing the "way out" provided by his crew, Will withdrew his Haki and said calmly, "Wiper, you should be a bit more composed now, right?"

Though his face remained grim, Wiper’s voice was much more controlled. "My apologies... I was too agitated." He slowly released the trigger, and the muzzle of his bazooka lowered.

Now that he was forced to be rational, he understood: if these people truly wanted to help Eneru wipe them out, they would have done so already. Furthermore, he noticed Eneru had been uncharacteristically quiet since arriving. It was clear this Blue Sea powerhouse had successfully tamed the arrogant "God."

As the atmosphere relaxed, Robin, who had been observing quietly, looked up at the roof with curiosity. "So, you are the ’God’ of Skypiea they speak of?"

"God?" Eneru, still trying to conserve his energy with eyes half-lidded, replied flatly, "I used to be. But you don’t need to call me that anymore."

"The former ’God’ is dead. In my view, only those who are undefeated deserve that title. Since I have been defeated, I am no longer ’God’."

He scanned the group, noting that Robin and the others lacked wings. "You must be this guy’s crewmates. That makes our status equal. You can just call me Eneru."

"Huh?" Carina caught on, turning her gaze toward Will. "Does he mean...?"

"You guessed right," Will nodded. He reached out and patted Eneru on the chest. "This guy has just been recruited as my newest crewmate."

"Ugh!"

As Will’s hand made contact with his scorched chest, Eneru’s entire body trembled. However, for the sake of his pride, he forced himself to stand straight, refusing to double over. He felt as though he was being continuously electrocuted by sheer pain, even without using his powers.

"Damn it... this bastard..." Eneru cursed inwardly, his expression stiff.

"His constitution isn’t bad," Will thought. He knew Eneru was struggling. After all, a strike imbued with Conqueror’s Haki caused devastating internal damage. Even if he restarted his heart, his body was far from recovered. The trauma to his chest alone would take significant time to heal.

"Wait, a crewmate?!" The crowd was once again thrown into a state of shock. Only Issho and Robin remained unfazed.

Ignoring the reactions, Will began making arrangements. "Alright, stop acting tough. Go find our ship’s doctor for treatment." He pointed to the small figure at Carina’s feet. "Chopper, take him to the ship. Get him patched up and let him rest."

"Got it!" Chopper chirped, nodding quickly.

"Ship’s doctor?" Eneru looked down at the small creature, blinking in surprise. "A tanuki?"

"I’m a reindeer, you bastard! Not a tanuki!" Chopper shouted back, fuming.

"Oh? It talks." Eneru raised an eyebrow, genuinely curious. However, he didn’t linger. He transformed into a bolt of lightning and vanished, reappearing instantly on the deck of the ship anchored in the white-white sea—a vessel that clearly didn’t belong to Skypiea.

"Hurry up, Doctor Chopper. Come treat me."

He had to admit, he was at his limit. During the trip over, he could barely keep his eyes open. Now that he realized Will had no intention of killing him, he finally let his guard down. As long as he was useful, his life was safe.

His exhaustion finally won out. By the time Chopper jogged back to the ship from the beach, Eneru was already slumped in a chair on the deck, fast asleep, his golden staff lying forgotten on the wood beside him.
