One Piece: Pirate King? I just want to kill all of you
Chapter 136: I Am Here to End This War
Witnessing the scene before him, Chopper gasped. He scrambled onto the seat to conduct a careful examination, his eyes widening in sheer shock.
"This...!"
"These injuries are incredible!"
Large sections of his chest were scorched by severe burns, numerous ribs were shattered, and his heartbeat was dangerously thready. Damage of varying degrees riddled his entire body. Only now did Chopper truly understand what Will meant when he said he had "already killed" the man once.
Chopper couldn’t fathom how he was still alive; just moments ago, the man had seemed perfectly fine. Perhaps it was the nature of his Devil Fruit combined with a formidable physique. Any ordinary person would have died several times over from such trauma. Once he confirmed the patient was temporarily out of danger, Chopper hopped off the seat and dashed into the cabin to fetch herbs and bandages.
Since the man was now Will’s crewmate, he was a comrade. Chopper was determined to do everything in his power to heal him.
Meanwhile, on the beach outside the ship, Will flickered into motion, appearing before the crowd after Eneru had been taken aboard. He scanned the Skypieans and Shandia gathered there, a gentle smile playing on his lips.
"Everyone, let us now have a thorough discussion regarding the disputes between your peoples and the ultimate sovereignty of Upper Yard."
At his words, Gan Fall and Wyper immediately tensed. They shifted their focus away from Eneru’s fate and turned toward Will. At Will’s prompting, Gan Fall provided a somber recount of the history between the Skypieans and the Shandia—the sudden arrival of Upper Yard in the white sea, the ringing of the Golden Bell, and the century of bloodshed that followed.
As the story concluded, a heavy silence fell over the group.
Will was the first to break it, addressing the old knight beside him. "Gan Fall, I must ask: do you wish to continue this war with the Shandia?"
Gan Fall’s gaze wavered for a moment before he slowly shook his head. "No. I do not."
"Even if it means losing Upper Yard?"
"That is correct." Gan Fall nodded without a hint of hesitation, his tone ringing with sincerity. "Though I feel a certain attachment to this land, it originally belonged to the Shandia. Returning it to them is only right."
Will nodded approvingly, then turned to Wyper, whose expression was a storm of conflicting emotions. "And you? Are you prepared to continue this war against the Skypieans?"
"I..."
Wyper’s expression flickered. The conviction in his heart was wavering, and he hesitated, his voice muffled. "I don’t know."
Hearing Gan Fall’s admission had thrown him into a dilemma. He no longer knew what he was fighting for. Was it for revenge? Or simply to lead his people back to their homeland? As a man who knew only the path of the warrior, he found himself unable to parse such complex emotions.
Seeing Wyper’s bewildered state, Will seemed to recall something important, his eyes brightening. "Oh, right. I almost forgot the most important thing."
"Hmm?" The surrounding crowd looked at him with curiosity, but Will didn’t stick around to explain.
He suddenly kicked off the ground, leaping high into the air, and shot toward the Giant Jack—the massive beanstalk piercing the heavens. He soared through the sea of clouds, climbing higher and higher until he reached the very pinnacle of the vine.
"As expected, it’s here."
Will landed steadily above the clouds, his face instantly illuminated by a brilliant golden radiance. "The Golden Bell!"
Before him, resting upon a floating cloud platform, was a magnificent Golden Bell of staggering proportions, entwined with ancient vines. Beside it stood two massive golden pillars. Will ascended the golden stairs, marveling at the sight. The bell was nearly the size of the Ark Maxim.
"If Nami and Carina saw this, they’d probably lose their minds," he chuckled. "But even they couldn’t take this away. It’s just too massive."
Aside from the swinging bell itself, the entire golden structure was essentially a single, seamless piece of architecture, many times larger than the Ark Maxim. Very few ships in the world could hope to carry such a weight. It was truly a treasure beyond compare.
"It’s time for ’it’ to fulfill its original purpose."
Will circled the platform to find the right angle. He tore off his shirt, his back muscles instantly contorting into the terrifying image of a Demon Face. Activating both his Explosive Clothing Amplification and his Ogre Back, a violent surge of power coursed through his veins.
Controlling his strength with precision, Will pulled his fist back to gather momentum, his arm hardening into a deep, metallic black with Busoshoku Haki. He leaped lightly into the air and unleashed a devastating punch.
BOOM!
The moment his blackened fist struck the edge of the golden platform, a massive shockwave rippled through the air. The entire platform—the bell, the pillars, and the very earth beneath the gold—was dislodged, sliding off its cloud anchor and sailing into the open sky.
As the Golden Bell plummeted, Will used Geppo to catch up, appearing beside the structure in an instant.
CLANG!
With a metallic ring that shook the atmosphere, Will delivered a heavy kick, sending the Golden Bell and its platform hurtling toward the beach of Sky Island. He followed close behind, landing firmly on top of the bell.
TONNNNNG!!!
As the Golden Bell tilted in its descent, a resounding toll echoed across the heavens, piercing through the clouds.
"What is that...?"
The Shandia and Skypieans on the beach froze, their heads snapping toward the sky.
"That sound... the bell!"
"War Demon" Wyper and Gan Fall looked up, their eyes filled with a mixture of reverence and awe. For those who knew the legends, their eyes grew misty, and silent tears began to fall.
Deep within the hidden village of the Shandia, the Chief stood up abruptly, staring at the sky with trembling hands.
"That toll... it’s the Golden Bell! Great Warrior Calgara... do you hear it? The Golden Bell... has been rung once more!"
In the heart of Upper Yard, the giant snake, the Nola, felt the vibration of the bell. Its massive body straightened, and huge tears overflowed from its eyes. it let out a long, mournful hiss toward the sky, as if finally finding peace after centuries of grieving.
Ten thousand meters below, on the island of Jaya, a man with a chestnut on his head and a diamond-shaped face was stripping his shirt to dive into the sea.
TONNNNG! The distant, melodic toll drifted down from the heavens. Mont Blanc Cricket froze, his movements paralyzed as shock filled his eyes.
"That sound... could it be?"
His clothes slipped from his hands, falling into the dirt. He began to tremble violently, covering his face with his hands to stifle a sob, but the tears flowed freely between his fingers.
"The City of Gold... it really exists! It’s up there! It’s in the sky!"
TONNNNNG!!!
As the bell rang out again, Will stood tall atop the golden treasure, silhouetted against the sun as he descended toward the beach. To the people below, he looked like a god descending from the heavens. Many Skypieans and Shandia subconsciously clasped their hands in prayer.
"So, he left just to find the Golden Bell..." Wyper muttered, looking up at the man bathed in sunlight. He felt the last of his strength leave him; the Burn Bazooka he had carried for so long slipped from his shoulder and clattered into the sand.
Around him, the Shandia dropped their weapons, one by one, lost in the sacred melody of the bell.
However, Nami and Carina were having a very different reaction. Their eyes had turned into literal gold coins, and they were practically drooling.
"Oh my god... Will found a piece of gold that big!" Nami gasped, clutching her cheeks in excitement.
"The bell... it’s enormous," Carina whispered, her eyes sparkling with greed.
Then, reality set in. They looked at each other and spoke in perfect unison: "How are we supposed to get all that gold down to the blue sea?"
Fortunately, the others were too preoccupied with the "miracle" to overhear them. Only Issho and Robin, standing nearby, caught the exchange. Robin smiled knowingly, while Issho felt a rare pang of regret.
If this old man hadn’t blinded himself, he thought, perhaps I could have truly appreciated the sight of this Golden Bell. He could sense its magnificent presence, but it wasn’t the same as seeing it. However, the feeling passed quickly, his conviction remaining unshaken.
"Issho! It’s up to you!" Will shouted from above.
"Understood, Captain," Issho replied with a smile. He slowly drew his gravity blade. An invisible force enveloped the hurtling Golden Bell, slowing its momentum until it drifted gently onto the sea of clouds, floating steadily by the shore.
Will leaped down, landing on the golden platform. He spread his arms wide and addressed the gathered masses.
"Everyone! I am here to end this war!"
"Upper Yard shall no longer be the fuse that ignites your conflict! Let this bell serve as the witness to your peace! Let the centuries of bloodshed end today!"
Under the weight of Will’s presence and the sacred toll of the bell, the two sides finally fell silent. Though Wyper did not voice his submission, he sent for the Shandia Chief, effectively handing over the power of decision. It was his way of conceding.
Witnessed by the crew, the Chief of the Shandia and Gan Fall reached a historic accord: both peoples would share the land of Upper Yard in peace.
Will, the man who found the bell and broke the cycle of war, was hailed as a savior. Though he didn’t care for the title, the people flooded the ship with Sky Island specialties and vast amounts of gold—treasure that was largely useless to them, but a windfall for the crew. Nami and Carina, previously worried about the bell’s weight, were suddenly very happy again.
After Chopper volunteered to stay on the ship to tend to Eneru, Will, Issho, Nami, and the others headed into the heart of Upper Yard to see the legendary "City of Gold."
However, when they arrived at the ancient ruins, Nami and Carina’s faces fell.
"Is this it? The ’City of Gold’?" Nami murmured, looking at the crumbling stone buildings covered in moss and vines. There wasn’t a speck of gold in sight.
Robin, however, was in heaven. She caressed the ancient masonry, her eyes alight with the fire of discovery. To her, these ruins were worth more than any mountain of gold.
"There seems to be another hollow space beneath the clouds here," Issho noted, his Kenbunshoku Haki probing the depths.
"Indeed," Will agreed. "There’s a massive space below us. Why don’t we go down and take a look?"
Nami’s eyes lit up again. "Then let’s hurry! Maybe the real City of Gold is hidden down there!"
