Chapter 139: Not wasting time

"Considering that you are far away from home, then it makes sense that you want to solve this as quickly as possible," Francis said while rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Still, I would advise against that... the overlord is much more troublesome than his own army. Besides, he might attack the city and kill hundreds because you taunted him."

"He won’t, I will make sure that he will focus on me," Terry replied. "If he sends his army toward the city, these two will help you, and that will be enough."

Francis found it hard to believe that Vanessa and Rebecca alone would be enough to stop the charge of the enemy’s army. They also didn’t believe that they could pull that off without Terry’s help, but it was only because they didn’t know the full extent of the power armor. Terry didn’t know if it was the right think to make them learn by themselves and gain confidence, but changing the plan now would be useless.

"Let’s compromise a bit as well," Vanessa said since she noticed that Francis was still unsure of the plan. "We will attack the enemies on a small scale and retreat, making them think that we are afraid of their numbers. If we kill a bunch of them, that should be enough proof, right?"

Francis was still unsure since he was still hoping that the enemies won’t attack Rome at all. Terry, Vanessa, and Rebecca could understand, he had more than a few things that he wanted to protect, but that way of doing things was too risky. Just believing in a bright future without working for it was stupid.

"I suppose we all need to compromise... we also need to gather some more Intel on how the enemies will act from now on," Francis said. "Still, I hope that you can take responsibility if something happens."

"Leave it to us," Vanessa said. "We will succeed together."

It was useful to have someone like Vanessa around since she was a good diplomat. In any case, Rosalia guided the group to some empty rooms in the building that they could use. They were going to put their plan in action only the next day, they still had to come up with a plan, though. Just approaching the enemies and killing as many of them was too simple for Terry’s tastes. In the end, they headed to Terry’s room after they unpacked.

"We should talk about the operation tomorrow," Vanessa declared. "We received permission, but we need to come up with a decent plan. We can’t just break through everything with raw power."

While they could solve most of the problems in that situation with brute strength, Terry decided not to do that. It will be better if they learn how to use the armor by themselves instead of just hearing instructions about it.

"Shouldn’t we see or ask about the enemy’s base before coming up with anything?" Rebecca asked.

"It will be better if we pull this off without asking for anything, it will leave a better impression and that will make us do what he wants afterward," Vanessa replied. "That being said, we can’t do anything too complex since we don’t know much about the enemies. With that in mind, we should just attack, cause as much damage as possible in a short amount of time and then run away before the enemies can see what hit them."

Quick attacks were useful because it could elace the enemies completely astonished and when it causes enough damage, it makes the enemies lose resources and time preparing for an all out confrontation even though it doesn’t happen. That was a good way to demoralize the enemies and make them fall for more traps in the future.

"That is fine by me, but that also will make the enemy be wary of us when the real time comes... ah, I get it now," Terry said while nodding several times. "That will make the overlord focus on us when the real battle starts."

"Exactly, we can also adjust our tactics for the real fight while we will be fine as long as we don’t fight for too long," Vanessa added.

Vanessa had a point and that was the best way to lure the overlord while making sure that the others won’t be burdened by them. However, Terry will be in a bit of a bind since he will fight the enemy when he doesn’t know anything about them. He had to level up his armor and sword as much as possible before that, then.

On the next day, Terry, Vanessa, and Rebecca left early after having breakfast with Francis and Rosalia. They used that chance to relax a bit, but Francis used that chance to tell some things. For example, it would be better for them to attack the left flank of the enemies since that area had many obstacles for them and that would make things difficult for the enemies to chase.

"We are heading to the left flank, but why do you look so suspicious?" Rebecca asked. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Usually, one wouldn’t offer such an idea without knowing that we have high mobility as well," Terry said. "We didn’t use the dark pegasus boots in front of others, so it makes me wonder if he is thinking that we have this much mobility thanks to the armor alone or thanks to the boots or something else."

"I suppose it is also a bit suspicious that he knows such details about the armor and he would have that much faith in something that he didn’t see in action," Vanessa added. "Louis might have said a bit too much in order to make the people understand that only three people could make some difference."

Terry decided to ignore Louis’ actions now since he felt that it would make him go mad out of sheer anger. Besides, he had better things to do than to waste time with such an annoying person.
