Chapter 140: Demonstration

The group moved to the walls on the Eastern side of the city and then jumped over it. The guards around had been informed of that, but they still looked a bit skeptical of them. Everything around and outside the city was in ruins or destroyed. It looked like the city had suffered a lot of damage recently and that was weird given that a new army of monsters just appeared.

"Let’s get going," Terry declared.

The group moved toward their destination while moving in a wide arc to avoid being spotted by the enemies. At the same time, they avoided using the dark pegasus boots for now since they didn’t have as much faith in the guild members as their guild master had. Still, it didn’t seem like that would be enough.

"I can sense some weird mana in the air," Rebecca said while looking around.

"I can feel it too, I suppose we are being watched," Vanessa added. "I can’t say if someone from Francis guild is doing that, though."

Rain never heard of someone that had the power of Clairvoyance or something similar, but it wouldn’t be weird if such a trait existed. It should have some limitations since it wasn’t a combat related trait and improving it also would be difficult.

In any case, after half an hour, the group finally was able to see the enemies in the distance. They only covered one hundred kilometers, so they could tell that the enemy advanced quite a bit since they were going to attack Rome in a few days. Tthe appearance of the stone knights was quite something. They looked like carved out golems further, they were as big as the troll overlord and while they didn’t move with much grace and speed, they made up for it with their strength and weight.

It was easy to imagine such an army knocking down the walls that protected Rome. Even more so when their weapons were some thick batons made of stone. Their whole body, armor and weapons were probably harder than concrete.

"I wonder if your sword will be fine cutting those things down," Rebecca said.

"There is only one way to find out," Terry said.

Vanessa and Rebecca sighed. Terry’s approach to most problems was to deal with them head-on and while that was a good example for a leader to set, it was also a bit dangerous since it didn’t seem like he considered other approaches.

"Our goal is to cause a lot of damage, right?" Terry asked. "Then go all out from the beginning and don’t think too much about anything else."

Vanessa and Rebecca nodded. Before moving, Terry wondered if he should focus on using the power armor and make it level and leave the sword for later, but it would be more efficient to use the sword. It would gain more effects and skills faster than the armor, after all.

Terry moved toward the enemies several kilometers away. Each of his steps made him cross dozens of meters per second, but despite that, he only left small gusts of wind on the places he stepped in. He only used the boots for a few weeks, but he had already mastered them completely.

Vanessa and Rebecca kept their distance from Terry since their goal was to offer magic support and make sure that they will have an escape route. While they were following Terry, they wondered if they should ask him for a weapon like his, but they didn’t feel comfortable in trying to master physical skills and magic ones.

"... They already felt me," Terry thought when he saw the line of monsters turning to look at him at the same time.

Terry had only seen a single line of enemies, but when the enemies looked at him when he was one kilometer away, he saw another line five hundred meters behind the first. Those massive numbers also worked like a wall. In any case, the monsters kicked the ground and charged at him. There was no finesse in their movements, but thanks to their strength, they could move in a straight line quite fast.

Despite that, Terry ignored that and swung down his sword when the first enemy tried to crush him with its stone staff. Describe Terry’s sword cutting down the weapon and the monster in two. However, the monster soon began to reattach itself.

"I should have known that it wouldn’t be easy," Terry thought.

Several other golems approached Terry from the sides, but some stone walls emerged from the ground and surrounded and sandwiched the monsters until they became dust. Terry saw some crystal-like things falling in pieces as well and the beasts fell for good. They had cores and destroying them was the only way to get rid of those.

"Their cores aren’t in their heads or in the middle of their torso... then..." Terry thought and then chose another target. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Terry bombarded one of the monsters from above with Fire Swords. It took a while, but the beast eventually died while revealing that its core was on the right side of their torso. Terry furrowed his eyebrows while seeing that and blocking the attacks of other stone Knights with his sword. All of a sudden, he jumped backward and then charged forward, hitting the right side of one of the enemies and passing through it thanks to his sword. He saw the core of the monster being split in four parts as well.

Terry landed and then charged toward another monster, but instead of passing through it, he just made his sword pierce a single spot and Terry heard the sound of something shattering inside the monster. Before the creature could fall apart, Terry kicked its body and then moved toward another monster. Terry became a shadow while moving like that, not even Vanessa and Rebecca could see him that well. They thought that his weapon would suffer a bit, but it actually could pierce the enemies body with ease thanks to the fire effect and the fact that the weapon was leveling up insanely fast.
