Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 145: Heavy attack
"This won’t end well..." Rebecca said while biting her fingernails.
Terry could understand Rebecca’s feelings. The enemy’s advance seemed like some tsunamis that would come to stay around the city. They will hit like a truck and since they are made of stone, they won’t go down that easily. Still, that was the fate that the people of the city chose, so Terry couldn’t say anything else.
Terry looked around for any signs of Francis, but he didn’t find him. He wondered if the guy would be in his guild protecting his relic... that would be pretty irresponsible.
The enemies approached slowly during the day and when night fell, they disappeared in the darkness, even though their footsteps could still be heard and felt. The people in the future who weren’t hunters helped distribute food to the hunters, but they did it in a hurry since staying close to the walls was quite nerve-wracking right now with all the noise.
"So annoying... I thought that the overlords who are too full of themselves were a pain in the ass, but the cunning ones are even worse," Rebecca said then sighed.
"Calm down, getting impatient now would only mean that you are falling for the enemy’s ploy," Vanessa said.
Despite her own words, Vanessa also looked pissed. Lately, the group has been acting instead of reacting and she liked that. Reacting again sure was tiresome after getting used to that. As for Terry, he just waited patiently for the fight since he already did everything he could to prepare.
The hours passed rather slowly in the middle of the night and the tension only made the soldiers on the walls feel worse since they couldn’t see the enemies. Terry assumed that the enemies would attack after midnight, but he was starting to guess that they would only attack one hour before sunrise. If they were that confident in their forces, then one hour would be enough to take down the city. At that time, all the soldiers would be quite tired, after all.
"... It is happening," Terry thought. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Around three in the morning, Terry felt the atmosphere changing. He got up and so did Rebecca and Vanessa. Before long, they suddenly heard some impacts in the distance and the sound of shockwaves. When that happened, thousands of Stone Knights were seen approaching the walls.
Terry jumped from the wall and then immediately collided against one of them. Vanessa and Rebecca thought that he had been crushed by the attack, but he passed through the chest of the beast and the creature began to fall apart. Using his grip strength, Rain grabbed a part of the wall and then the entirety of the walls trembled since all the stone knights collided against it. Cracks appeared on all sides and the hunters lost their balance.
"Attack the monsters freely! Don’t hold back!" Rosalia shouted.
In the next moment, a rain of countless spells falling from the walls hit the stone knights. Thanks to that, the area was illuminated and Terry had the chance to see things beyond the wall in several kilometers. He could see another line of stone knights approaching. The enemy was ready to send others if the first line fell and that one had thousands of them as well.
"I can’t save energy... I need to kill as many of them as possible," Terry thought and then kicked the wall and moved to the sides.
Terry disappeared from everyone’s sight, but Vanessa and Rebecca saw some monsters falling apart on the sides after they trembled all over. They knew that Terry would remain invisible and attack the enemies like that, but they didn’t know that Terry was planning not to use his sword.
That seemed inefficient, but he probably had his reasons. Instead of worrying about Terry, those two sniped all the enemies around with stone bullets aimed straight at the enemy’s right side. Those were so fast and could spin so much that the enemies died with a single hit.
The northern side of the wall was secure with those two there. Rosalia was surprised while looking at those two, they could cover an area of two kilometers with ease. She knew that they would be something else since they came in a small group, but not that much.
"Should I make them go in the opposite direction of their friend to cover more ground?" Rosalia wondered.
Just when Rosalia was thinking about that, the sound of impacts in the distance echoed again. All of a sudden, more stone knights took the place of the fallen ones and collided against the walls. Even with their powers, Rebecca and Vanessa were unable to react to their speed and destroy them before the collision. Still, they make up for it by attacking all of the enemies in all directions as fast as they could. Since the beasts were focusing on attacking the walls, they could attack freely.
While those two were working there, Terry kept moving around the walls and destroying the stone knights. He had already covered five kilometers in the blink of an eye, but soon he had to turn around when he saw enemies behind him taking the place of the fallen monsters.
"They truly want to finish this before sunrise, huh?" Terry said and then turned around as well before landing on the right shoulder of one enemy. "In that case..."
While Terry was invisible, the monster still could feel his weight. Still, before the monster could do anything, Terry kicked the head of the monster and then flew in the opposite direction. The impulse made him cross five hundred meters in a moment and pass through five stone knights.
At the same time, the one he kicked lost its head and fell on the ground. That was a pretty efficient way to kill them, but Terry paid the price, his armor lost some durability and the impacts made his whole body tremble. Still, Terry ignored that and kept going until he was back where he left Rebecca and Vanessa. It seemed that they had destroyed numerous stone knights, but they never stopped coming.
