Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 152: Splitting work
It wasn’t a weapon, so Terry couldn’t make it level up or create one himself. Still, he didn’t want it... such a relic and magic was too dangerous. A human being able to control other humans as they see feet... history proves that such a thing never ends well.
"I guess I will have to talk with those people and convince them to give up on that," Terry thought. "If I offer a high level version of my armor, it might convince them, but..."
Considering what Terry knew, the relic and the spell enhances the user’s Power as well, so they might not want to give up on that... he will have to find a solution for that. Terry was once a slave of the system that only benefited the hunters, he didn’t want things become worse than that and create a system that only benefits the overlords.
"Since we owe you a lot thanks to this job, I can tell you the information that we have about those guys, but I don’t think that negotiating with them is an option," Francis said. "The Intel that we have says that they began to change a bit before they got those relics, and now they are working to expand their territories."
"I see," Terry said.
From that point onward, Terry didn’t know if he could trust in Francis’ opinion. He was Louis’ friend, after all... his opinion can be biased. In any case, Francis told Terry that he could find two people that had the relic. One was in the extreme north of Europe and the next in the extreme south of south America... Terry only felt more suspicious, considering that such information was too far away from his territory. That being said, he had to confirm things at some point.
One of them was a woman and another was a man, they stopped making apparitions since they obtained the relics, but their territories keep expanding.
"I see, I will keep that in mind," Terry said.
The next day, the preparations to return home were over, so Terry didn’t have much time to level up his items. It was a bit annoying, but at least they had a bunch of boxes with magic stones and with feathers of griffons.
"We wish you good luck, contact us if you need help with anything," Francis said and then waved his hands alongside Rosalia.
Terry nodded and then entered the vehicle while Vanessa and Rebecca were a lot more warm with their goodbyes. They either were too friendly or easy to forget the suspicions that they had before.
When the airplane took off, Terry wondered what they should do now... they should focus on closing some portals when more of them should appear in the future or should they focus on dealing with the humans that could become overlords.
"I guess regarding the humans, I might need to do this alone since things could get bloody," Terry thought.
Fighting humans and monsters was the same for Terry, but for those two, perhaps not. Besides, if they had to be dealt with, it would be better like that since Terry knew that he wouldn’t leave any traces behind and he could come and go insanely fast. The problem was reaching those areas and returning before anyone could notice.
"I will need to level up the dark pegasus boots, of hope that the next upgrade of the armor will be off the charts," Terry thought.
"We just defeated a tough overlord, why are you scowling so much?" Rebecca asked. "Well, you did most of the work."
"I am thinking about the future, we need to hurry up closing the portals that need to be closed," Terry replied. "We will work separately for a while, so as soon as we get home, you guys should decide the best order for that while I deal with the equipment."
"You sure are a workaholic," Rebecca said while frowning. "All I can think of right now is about some vacations that I want."
"I also believe that we should focus on that, leaving New York for several days is too dangerous," Vanessa said. "I am also worried that the overlords might try to work together if they think that we are too hard to deal with and then settle the matter later for themselves. Things are more high scale than we predicted, so we need to get our head in the game until we find the assassin that killed the guild masters."
"Do you think that Louis made any progress regarding that?" Rebecca asked, visibly worried.
"I wouldn’t bet on it," Terry replied.
"Do you think that we should investigate this ourselves?" Vanessa asked. "If I knew someone with the right trait to help with that, we could do that behind the scenes."
"Nah, we should focus on closing the portals, that will improve our reputation and it will avoid more deaths in the long run," Terry said. "You guys should find a portal that you two can close together until you get used to it."
Although Terry said that, he was a bit worried about leaving those two alone... perhaps lending them his current armor would be enough. Since it has the Battle Aura, the other will gain a boost in power. Terry will be fine without it as long as he doesn’t fight an overlord... also, there was something that he wanted to test.
In any case, several hours later, the group returned home and confirmed that everything was still the same as ever. After everyone celebrated their return, they received some reports about the things that happened while they were away. Three new portals appeared and that caused the deaths of some hunters. That made them understand that they truly needed to hurry up...
At the same time, they heard from the other guild masters that everything was fine with them while they were laying low... still, the lack of information about them to the general public was damaging their reputation.
