Chapter 199: All out war

Terry was running around the area while watching the enemies, they kept firing fireballs at him and magma spears, but they only hit the ground that he stepped in a few centimeters ago.

If he wanted to focus only on dodging the attacks, Terry could do that, but it wouldn’t help a lot. Besides, his stamina was being drained and he had several nasty burn marks on his arms.

All of a sudden, Terry changed his direction and charged at a group of magma golems. Their barrage of attacks increased, but Terry blocked them just with the tip of his spear...

In the next moment, the monsters had their legs pierced by earth spears and that stopped their movements for a moment, but it had been enough for Terry to swing his weapon in an arc and then destroy the cores in their chests. Five enemies fell and soon became a pile of lava on the ground.

"Not yet..." Terry thought.

The electric birds used their thunder spears against Terry, but he sidestepped with all his might and at the same time, he approached the armored bulls. Instead of thrusting his spear, Terry threw it toward the forehead of one of the monsters and the attack pierced the armor and the skull of the beast. In the next moment, Terry grabbed the spear and raised the body of the enemy while also spinning around.

Terry’s attacks hit all the other armored bulls and smash the heads of a few ones as well. Still, he soon had to let them go once he heard the sound of electricity in the air.

"Not yet," Terry thought.

Terry used his shield and let the charge of a bull push him away and out of the electric spears range. Before he could stop, Terry kicked the ground with all his might and transformed his weapon into gloves and dashed toward the army of yellow spearmen that were charging toward him with shields and spears in hands.

The spearman raised their weapons to impale Terry all at once, but they didn’t have the chance to do much aside from that... even without having unlocked the skill yet, Terry used Sonic Punch.

Terry’s sudden charge Increased in speed and then knocked down dozens of enemies alongside their weapons. He felt his arms and back hurting for a bit for a moment since he forced his body to do that, but he ignored the pain and then transformed his weapon into a halberd and spun it in a wide arc.

Dozens of yellow lizardmen lost their heads, but in the next moment, Terry was hit by several electric spears. The attacks paralyzed Terry for a moment, but soon he kicked the ground and recovered... he ended up charging against the magma Golems, though and then collided against them.

"Bigger weapons still are no good..." Terry thought when he body slammed against one magma golem.

In the next moment, Terry impaled the creature as well and then threw it upward. The magma golem worked as a shield for Terry in the sky against the electric birds and he used that brief moment of peace to transform his weapon into a crossbow and then explode the heads of dozens of magma golems around.

"Ten per second, but not enough yet..." Terry thought.

Despite the overwhelming odds and the sheer numbers of enemies arrayed against him, Terry’s attack power and speed began to surge. However, it wasn’t a result of some premeditated strategy or newfound tactical insight. Instead, it was a response born out of his immediate circumstances and the intense pressure of the battle.

Terry found himself in a situation where he was effectively outnumbered and outmatched. The enemies’ coordinated assaults left little room for complex planning or strategic maneuvers. His adversaries seemed to possess a level of organization that made it difficult to exploit any tactical weaknesses. In the midst of this chaos, Terry’s instincts took over.

His body seemed to tap into a wellspring of hidden strength, as if responding to the dire urgency of the situation. His movements became swifter, more agile, and his strikes carried a newfound force. But these enhancements weren’t the result of a conscious decision to increase his power; rather, they were a natural reaction to the threats he faced.

Terry was forced into a reactive stance, responding to the attacks and adapting on the fly. The enemies’ sheer numbers left little time for calculated decision-making. He was pushed to the limits of his physical abilities, relying on instinctual reflexes and a deep well of combat experience to fend off the relentless assaults.

While Terry’s combat prowess was undeniable, he recognized that tactical knowledge alone couldn’t counteract the sheer numerical advantage of the enemy. He needed strength, speed, and endurance to survive the onslaught. The enemies’ tactics were overwhelming, and his best course of action appeared to be leveling up, increasing his abilities, and holding out until the overlords themselves entered the fray.

In the midst of the chaotic battle, an idea formed in Terry’s mind—a risky plan that involved enduring pain for a potential advantage. Despite the cost, he believed it could turn the tables in his favor.

With determination in his eyes, Terry dashed forward, avoiding fireballs and electric spears by instinct. He closed in on the enemies, his heart pounding as he prepared to execute his plan.

Suddenly, Terry leaped into the air using his pegasus boots, going higher and farther than usual. He used his "Flying Kick’’ ability, hitting a lizardman’s head with his heel. The impact hurt him, but it worked, and the lizardman’s head snapped back.

Landing on the other side of the enemies, Terry swiftly attached a bolt to his crossbow and spun around. The crossbow swung wide, taking down a group of lizardmen approaching him. He aimed a bolt at the wounded magma lizardman, and it hit the monster’s neck. In the next moment, he fired numerous bolts in a wide range and then killed a bunch of other enemies.

Terry used the same strategy again and again. Landing amidst the enemies, Terry swung his crossbow into action, bolts firing off in a rapid succession reminiscent of a machine gun’s rate. Each bolt found its mark with uncanny precision, downing lizardmen and monsters one after another. The relentless assault dwindled the enemies’ numbers and filled the battlefield with the sounds of their defeat.

Nevertheless, the strain began to wear on him. The repeated use of the "Flying Kick" inflicted discomfort on his feet, the impact of his attacks taking a toll on his body. Despite the pain, Terry remained unwavering, committed to seizing this opportunity.

Each flying kick was followed by a torrent of bolts, a deadly sequence that wreaked havoc among the enemy ranks. His calculated strikes and rapid-fire crossbow shots disrupted the enemies’ defenses and shifted the momentum in his favor.

Terry was getting some results, but while looking around, it didn’t feel like the enemies were stopping coming... he might as well be trying to dry up the ocean with a single cup...

"This is going too fast... if they learned about me recently, they shouldn’t have been able to prepare this many underlings," Terry thought.

Terry only began to hunt overlords two months ago... there was no way that he would be a threat back then... a threat for so many of them? Maybe he would become once the unknown weapon matures, but now...

Bloodied and wounded, Terry stood amidst the chaos, a testament to his unyielding determination. With a makeshift earth block held firmly above his head, he deflected the barrage of electric spears that rained down from above. Each impact sent jolts of electricity through the block, but Terry gritted his teeth and held his ground.

His body bore the scars of battle, cuts and bruises that painted a picture of his fierce struggle. Despite the pain, Terry was relentless. His crossbow became an extension of his will as he fired bolts at enemies from the sides, striking them down with an unerring precision that belied his battered state.

The fire drakes and archer lizardmen continued their relentless assault, casting spells and launching arrows that seared through the air. Terry didn’t flinch. He let the attacks rain down upon him even as he unleashed his own offensive. He understood that in the midst of this chaos, he needed to press on, to create an opening amid the storm of magic and projectiles.
