Only My Weapons Level UP
Chapter 55: Questions
The devastation caused by the dungeon breaks knew no boundaries. From the bustling cities to the remote corners of the world, guilds crumbled under the weight of the swarms of beasts. The loss of seasoned warriors and invaluable knowledge dealt a heavy blow to the global network of guilds, leaving a void that could not easily be filled.
Amidst this chaos, a new threat emerged, driven by the unintended consequences of the dungeon breaks. In Mexico, monsters poured forth with newfound vigor, their insidious presence felt beyond the borders. The once-secluded dungeons, now disrupted and unshackled, unleashed a relentless tide of creatures that spilled over into the territory of the United States.
"How curious, huh," Terry said. "It seems that the policy of only defending our lands isn’t enough."
"... That may be so, but it couldn’t have been avoided," Louis said after hesitating for a short while.
"What are you guys hiding? I am not a veteran hunter, but anyone with half a brain would realize by now that the whole situation is weird," Terry said. "Monsters keep coming when they aren’t crossing the portals that we use, irregular dungeon breaks, monsters slowing down on their hunts... you guys should have learned a thing or two by now."
"I have no idea what you are talking about," Louis said, and he looked honest enough.
Still, Terry knew better; he trusted his instincts more than he trusted appearances. Vanessa was also silent, but it looked like she didn’t want to put Louis completely against the wall.
"... Anyway, we have some groups of hunters near the border, so we might not have to move," Cabessa said to change the flow of the conversation. "Still, there is a chance that we might have to move soon, and we need to be ready for it."
"That could be a problem, I am busy here, and I am not anyone’s cleaner to deal with their messes," Terry shrugged. "Besides, a dungeon too far away is involved; we can’t claim dungeons beyond our territories, right?"
"Actually, the Mexican hunter’s association is fine in lending the land to us if we deal with the situation and the dungeon, so it will be fine," Louis said and then turned to leave. "I just came to inform you of all of the possibilities, so don’t worry too much about it."
Terry felt like a blood vessel was about to pop out; Louis was at the core of what Terry hated the most about the current society... It was the peak of sophism. In any case, he decided to take a nap to change his mood, and then he left the area.
Terry didn’t have much of a chance to rest despite his intentions. His mind kept working on solutions for those issues.
Terry’s mind swirled with thoughts and plans as he contemplated the best course of action. The dungeon breaks had thrust the world into turmoil, and he understood the gravity of the situation. It was a time that demanded difficult decisions and strategic maneuvering.
As he pondered, Terry weighed the options before him. On the one hand, there was the branch of New York, with its newly formed elite teams, ready to face the challenges that lay ahead. They had proven themselves in battles, exhibiting great potential. Leaving them behind meant entrusting a crucial region to their capable hands.
On the other hand, there was the pressing matter of the dungeon breaks spreading across the southern regions. The encroaching monsters posed a significant threat, one that could potentially engulf entire territories if left unchecked. Terry knew that he possessed a unique trait, one that could make a difference in this battle, and he felt a calling to face the menace head-on.
At this critical juncture, Terry evaluated the resources at his disposal. The Power armor, a potent tool that could serve him well, held immense potential for growth. It could be a game-changer, amplifying the strength and abilities of those who wielded it. Terry contemplated the possibility of equipping his guild members with this formidable armor, making them stronger as a collective force.
However, he also recognized the importance of diversifying their arsenal. Relying solely on the Power armor had its limitations, as it did not cover all bases. Terry pondered the prospect of providing his subordinates with other types of weapons that would complement their individual strengths and fill any gaps in their combat capabilities.
Ultimately, Terry understood that both options had their merits, and the decision would impact the guild’s overall effectiveness. Leaving the elite teams in New York would ensure the protection and growth of that branch, allowing them to become a formidable force in their own right. Meanwhile, heading south to confront the dungeon breaks meant facing a global threat head-on, utilizing his unique trait to its fullest potential.
With the realization that the Power armor would not be readily available for all his guild members, Terry embarked on a mission to acquire a bunch of items that could aid them in the upcoming battles. He knew that time was of the essence, and every resource counted in their fight against the encroaching monsters.
Terry scoured the markets, seeking out weapons, tools, and equipment that would prove invaluable in their upcoming confrontations. He meticulously assessed each item, considering its usefulness, durability, and compatibility with the unique abilities of his guild members.
Terry made them level up as much as possible to ensure their effectiveness during his watch of the dungeon. He knew that it was through challenging encounters that their skills would sharpen and their newly acquired items would be tested and refined. Each skirmish became an opportunity for growth, a chance for both Terry and his guild members to evolve.
After that preparation, Terry decided to head to the enemy’s base and then destroy all of them by himself. He assumed that such a thing would be enough to motivate everyone since, despite his words, he knew that he couldn’t leave the southern side of the country alone.
