Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Giving the Shares to Sunny Reed

"I was there when it happened."

But Walker Grant spoke up, his voice calm.

"What?!" Charles Reed was stunned for a moment, then shot to his feet. "If you were there, why didn’t you stop Chloe Reed?"

Walker Grant’s narrow phoenix eyes were deep and placid. "Sister-in-law misunderstood her, which is why she lashed out. Dad, you know her personality. If you force an accusation on her for something she didn’t do, she’ll make it a reality."

Charles Reed’s expression darkened further. "Even so, you should have held her back! You can’t just let her hit people!"

He then turned and glared at Chloe Reed. "Apologize to your sister!"

Chloe Reed gave Walker Grant a complicated look.

’She hadn’t expected him to take her side this time.’

Still, she felt nothing.

"When she’s dead, I’ll bow and offer her a single chrysanthemum," she said in a flat voice.

"Chloe Reed!"

Charles Reed let out a strangled roar.

Sunny Reed’s face paled, and she suddenly burst into tears. "I should never have come to this family. If my parents were still alive, no one would bully me like this..."

Her words tore at Charles Reed’s heart.

He looked at Chloe Reed with even greater disappointment. "You... you damn brat, you..."

But he was at a loss for words to scold her.

Because scolding her was useless.

Charles Reed turned to Sunny Reed. "Sunny, don’t cry. She’s the one in the wrong. Dad will apologize to you on her behalf. Don’t be sad. I’ve made a decision. I’m going to give you five percent of the Reed Group’s shares. After your mother and I pass away, you will inherit the group."

"I object!"

Chloe Reed’s previously indifferent expression vanished. She gritted her teeth. "She’s just an adopted daughter. Don’t you think you’re going too far?!"

But Charles Reed ignored her, his gaze fixed on Sunny Reed. "I’ll have the lawyers draft the contract. You just need to sign it."

Sunny Reed sobbed, "I don’t want it, Dad. That belongs to my sister. I can’t take it."

"She’s the one who wants to sever ties with us," Charles Reed said coldly. "She doesn’t care about it."

Sunny Reed’s lips parted, but she said nothing.

Chloe Reed strode up to Charles Reed, glaring at him. "Have you gone senile?! She’s just an adopted daughter!"

A look of disapproval crossed Walker Grant’s face as well. "Dad, don’t make decisions impulsively. The Group’s shares are no joking matter."

But Charles Reed said, "I’m not joking. My mind is made up. I’ll sign tomorrow."

Chloe Reed’s hands clenched into fists. Suddenly, she understood what Charles Reed was doing.

’He was using the shares to force her to submit, to apologize to Sunny Reed!’

’If she refused to yield, he would give everything the Reed family owned to Sunny Reed!’

In that moment, she looked so fragile, as if a gust of wind could blow her away.

She was overcome with sorrow.

A pang of pain shot through Walker Grant’s heart. He pulled her into his arms and turned to Charles Reed. "You should reconsider this. You may not have the final say in this matter."

"Walker, you’ve protected her for so many years," Sunny Reed suddenly said. "You’ve stood by her no matter what mistakes she’s made. Is it because she’s the one who saved you during that earthquake?"
