Sunny Reed had her back to Autumn Linton.

Hearing what Autumn said, Sunny Reed triumphantly raised her eyebrows at Chloe Reed.

Chloe Reed’s hands instantly clenched into fists, her expression turning utterly grim. But she was trying her hardest to hold it in. ’She’s doing this on purpose!’

Sunny Reed was a little disappointed when she saw Chloe didn’t lose her temper.

’This little sister of mine certainly has some impressive self-control these days.’

After Sunny left the hospital room, Chloe Reed turned to Autumn Linton. "Why are you so protective of her? Is she your real daughter or something?"

"Nonsense!" Autumn Linton frowned at her. "You are my only biological daughter. But you’re nothing like me—not the least bit forgiving, kind, or sensible. Sunny has been a part of our family for so many years, after all. Why must you always be at odds with her?"

"I was the only one in this family. You doted on me, and you’d give me anything I wanted. Then one day, someone suddenly appeared to take all of that away. Why should I have been okay with that? When you adopted her, why didn’t you even ask if I would agree?"

Chloe Reed stared expressionlessly at the woman on the hospital bed. "Were you lacking a daughter? Why did you have to adopt one who’s older than me?"

This was one thing she could never understand.

Why?

Sunny Reed’s sudden appearance had turned her life upside down.

Her parents’ doting love was gone.

Even her beloved toys were snatched away.

She became the spoiled, willful one.

’But all of that was supposed to be mine!’

It was Sunny Reed who had stolen what was rightfully hers. Why couldn’t she be angry? Why wasn’t she allowed to make a scene?

"Sigh..."

Faced with the accusation, Autumn Linton let out a heavy sigh. She closed her eyes for a moment and said, "Your father and I are getting older, and you don’t have any siblings. I just wanted to find someone to take care of you. When we’re gone one day, the two of you could keep each other company and offer mutual support. I just never imagined you’d be so against it..."

"Mom, don’t you think that reason sounds ridiculous when you say it out loud?" Chloe Reed sneered. "I’ll grow up. I’ll get married and have my own children. I’m not going to die old and alone. Why did you need to find someone to watch over me?"

But Autumn Linton didn’t say any more.

Chloe Reed, however, sharply sensed that something was off.

’And that just proved it—there was definitely some other hidden reason for adopting Sunny Reed!’

It was only today that Chloe Reed had realized this, and a pensive look immediately flashed in her eyes.

However, before she could dwell on it, the hospital room door opened. Charles Reed was back. Following behind him was a man in a suit holding some documents, with Sunny Reed trailing at the very end.

Seeing this, Chloe Reed’s expression instantly darkened!

’Her worst fears were coming true!’

"Charles, what is all this?" Autumn Linton asked, confused by the scene.

Charles Reed’s expression was calm as he said, "I’ve thought it over, and I’ve decided to transfer 5% of the Reed Group’s shares to Sunny’s name. She’s endured a lot in our family over the years, so this can be a small compensation for her. What do you think?"

She subconsciously glanced at Chloe Reed and, just as she expected, saw that her face was pale, her lip was bitten, and her eyes were red-rimmed.
