Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 107: Walker Grant Investigated After All
But now, he was saying he didn’t know and that he needed to look into it.
Chloe Reed gripped the seatbelt tightly, her voice hoarse as she asked, "If you don’t know, then why didn’t you question it when I told you about it back then?"
"That’s not important."
Walker Grant suddenly took her hand, his deep, intense eyes fixed on her. "It’s all in the past. It’s not important anymore."
A layer of moisture welled up in Chloe Reed’s wide eyes as she looked at him. "How can it not be important? Sunny Reed wants to steal everything from me. She even wants to steal the credit for this. Walker, this is very important."
But his brow furrowed. "Even if she was the one who saved me, my feelings for you wouldn’t change."
’Did she really think he was with her just because of that debt of gratitude?’
’If that’s the case...’
’What kind of person did she take him for?’
"I was the one who saved you!"
Chloe Reed said stubbornly, pulling her hand away. "Walker Grant, you listen to me. I was the one who saved you. It definitely wasn’t her. She’s lying! She’s trying to steal from me again!"
She was incredibly agitated, and the tears in her eyes grew thicker, glistening in a way that was heart-wrenching to watch.
"Okay, it was you. I won’t look into it. I believe you," Walker Grant said, going along with her in an attempt to calm her down.
But Chloe Reed looked away, staring out at the pitch-black night. It all felt so absurd.
’Her father wanted to give shares of the Reed Group to an adopted daughter.’
’And now that bitch was even claiming she was the one who saved Walker Grant.’
’She felt like she was dreaming.’
’But reality told her this was no dream.’
She pushed the car door open, got out, and walked inside without a backward glance.
Walker Grant didn’t get out of the car, nor did he watch her go. After a long moment of silence, he took out his phone and dialed his special assistant, Dylan Finch.
"Look into something for me."
...
「The next day.」
Chloe Reed arrived at the hospital with dark circles under her eyes.
Autumn Linton was already awake. Sunny Reed had arrived early and was feeding her breakfast.
Charles Reed wasn’t there, and the atmosphere in the hospital room was quite harmonious.
But her arrival shattered that harmony.
Chloe Reed walked in, didn’t say a word, and plopped down onto a chair.
A bandage was wrapped around Autumn Linton’s forehead. She frowned and said, "Chloe, what is the meaning of this?"
Chloe Reed’s tone was cold. "Just checking in on you."
Autumn Linton sighed. "I thought you wouldn’t come."
Chloe Reed’s lips tightened. She didn’t speak, but her sharp gaze fell on Sunny Reed.
After a night of recovery, the redness and swelling on Sunny Reed’s face had completely disappeared.
She used a tissue to wipe Autumn Linton’s mouth before gathering the bowl and utensils and setting them aside.
"Mom, want to lie down for a bit?"
Autumn Linton looked at her with a gentle and loving gaze. "No, it’s fine. I just finished eating. It’s uncomfortable to lie down right away. I’ll sit up for a while."
Sunny Reed nodded. "That works too."
She stood up with the bowl and utensils, intending to leave, but met Chloe Reed’s sharp gaze. Her expression faltered for a moment before she said, "Sister, I know you’re upset, but you really shouldn’t lie about this. You can’t deceive Walker like that."
Chloe Reed stared at her coldly. "Keep spouting nonsense, and I’ll rip your mouth off."
Sunny Reed subconsciously took a step back, clearly afraid she would actually do it.
"Chloe, if you came here just to cause trouble, then you should go back to work. I have Sunny here, and that’s enough," Autumn Linton interjected.
