Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 16: Imprison Her
Walker Grant’s sharp brows knitted together. Seeing her so agitated, his voice grew colder and more stern.
"I only go over when something happens to Noah. What does that have to do with me and Sunny Reed?"
Chloe Reed gripped his collar, fighting to hold back her tears, but they fell anyway. Her voice was strained. "Then if Noah and I both fell into the water one day, who would you save?"
"That would never happen."
Impatience flickered in Walker Grant’s eyes. "He’s just a child. As his closest relatives, it’s our duty to guide and support him."
He paused, his tone softening slightly. "My older brother has always been good to you. For his sake, can’t you just look after Noah a little? Please?"
"No."
Chloe Reed refused him point-blank.
She let go of his collar and looked away. "I’m a vicious woman. I can’t stand his existence stealing your attention away from me. Since you insist on taking care of him, then let’s get a divorce."
’This is endless.’
Walker Grant’s patience seemed to evaporate. He released her. "We are not getting a divorce. Once you calm down and think things through, you’ll understand me."
Chloe Reed clenched her fists tightly. "But you already signed the divorce papers!"
"They’re useless," Walker Grant said.
He no longer looked at her.
Chloe Reed was on the verge of losing her mind!
She gritted her teeth. "You won’t agree, is that it? Fine! From now on, every time I see that mother and son, I’ll make them suffer!"
Walker Grant simply gave her a deep look.
At the time, she didn’t understand what that look meant.
But soon, upon returning to Jardinelle, she was stunned to see extra bodyguards at the door. "What is the meaning of this?"
Her voice trembled.
Walker Grant took her hand. "Your knee is injured. You should stay home and recover for a while. They’ll protect you."
Chloe Reed stared blankly at his straight back. "You’re... imprisoning me?"
Walker Grant’s brow furrowed. "Chloe, I’m doing this for your own good."
"You bastard!"
Chloe Reed broke down completely. She swung at him, but he caught her wrist.
"Stop making a scene."
His voice was tinged with helplessness as he entered the villa and pushed her down onto the sofa.
Chloe Reed grabbed a throw pillow from the sofa and hurled it at him.
Her face was a mask of rage!
She jumped up and ran for the door.
But her knee was in agony. Walking slowly was manageable, but when she tried to run, a sharp pain shot through it, causing her to stumble and fall.
Walker Grant caught her just in time.
"Stop struggling. Your knee is badly injured."
Walker Grant’s helpless voice sounded again, his tone a little gentler, almost like old times.
Chloe Reed glared at him. "You can’t imprison me."
"I’m not imprisoning you," Walker Grant said. "You have no money right now. You can’t do anything even if you go out. It’s better to stay home and recover."
Chloe Reed stared straight at him. "You’re an animal."
Walker Grant’s brows drew together. "Chloe."
Chloe Reed turned her head away, refusing to look at him. Her heart ached to the point of suffocation; it felt as if her very soul was trembling.
’For Sunny Reed. For Noah Grant.’
’He’s not just cutting me off financially, he’s imprisoning me, forcing me to reflect on myself.’
’How could he do this?’
’How could he treat me like this?’
Walker Grant looked at her profile. Her eyelashes trembled, her face was pale. She seemed dead set on divorcing him.
His chest tightened, his earlier certainty beginning to waver.
His phone rang. He turned and walked away.
