The man drying her hair paused.

A flash of panic crossed his eyes, but he quickly composed himself. "Chloe," he said, "don’t overthink things. I got a vasectomy because I don’t want you to suffer. I saw the pain Sunny Reed went through when she gave birth, and I don’t want you to experience that."

Chloe Reed closed her eyes.

If he had told her this a month ago, she might have believed him.

But she had learned too much in the meantime.

He had spent Sunny Reed’s entire pregnancy with her, cared for Noah Grant, and his heart was entirely with that mother and son.

Now, to learn he’d had a vasectomy.

She could only conclude that he had done it for them.

Not for her.

The hair dryer whirred to life, and Chloe’s voice cut through the noise. "Divorce."

Walker Grant’s hands didn’t stop. His long, slender fingers threaded through her hair, drying her long locks bit by bit.

Her hands clenched into tight fists.

’How could he still put on this act of a gentle, doting husband after everything he’d done to hurt her?’

’Isn’t he exhausted?’

But she was.

She snatched the hair dryer, her clear eyes now frigid. "I said, divorce!"

The hair dryer was thrown to the floor.

A vein throbbed on Walker Grant’s temple, his handsome, sharp features frosting over. "I do everything for you, and you still want to cause a scene?"

"You motherfucker, get out!"

Chloe Reed couldn’t take it anymore and just cursed at him.

She didn’t even want to argue with him; she just felt a profound sense of powerlessness and sorrow.

’He’s already made his choice. How can he still claim it was for her?’

Watching her like this, a dangerous glint flashed in Walker Grant’s dark eyes.

He loomed over her, looking down.

"You insist on a divorce?"

"Yes!"

The corners of Chloe Reed’s eyes were red. She didn’t want to say another word, as that was her only demand.

He said nothing more, turned, and left.

The door slammed shut with a tremendous bang.

Outside, Nathaniel Monroe was holding a bowl of ginger soup, just about to knock. The slam startled him, and he almost dropped the soup.

"Walker, is Chloe alright?"

Walker Grant was radiating a furious energy, his expression dark and cold. He was still soaking wet, and he ran a hand back through his hair.

"She’s just fine. Still has the energy to act up."

Nathaniel Monroe wanted to say something, but he hesitated.

Walker Grant was in a terrible mood. Anything he said would probably just add fuel to the fire.

So he just said, "Well, this ginger soup..."

"You take it in."

"Alright."

Nathaniel Monroe nodded.

But a moment later, a hand clamped down on his shoulder. "Have a woman take it in instead."

Nathaniel was stunned for a moment before it clicked. "Right away!"

He called a woman over, handed her the ginger soup, and said, "Make sure my sister-in-law drinks all of this. If she doesn’t, you’ll have to answer to me."

The woman: "..."

Chloe Reed sat dazedly on the edge of the bed, her face pale, like an exquisite but lifeless doll.

The girl walked in and said, "I’ve brought you some ginger soup. Drink it to warm up so you don’t catch a cold."

Chloe Reed’s eyes flickered. She glanced at the newcomer and said in a hoarse voice, "Thank you."

She took the ginger soup and drank it in one go.

The girl let out a visible sigh of relief, said, "Please get some rest," and left.

Chloe Reed took a hot shower and then left the club directly.

She left without a sound. She sat at home all night, with scattered medical reports spread out before her.

When dawn broke, she took the documents and went straight to the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau.

However, ten o’clock in the morning came and went, and Walker Grant never showed.
