Dylan Finch took a deep breath and said, "Mr. Grant, I could tell you were in a bad mood. I just thought that seeing your wife might cheer you up a bit..."

"You’re getting pretty good at your job, aren’t you? Practically a mind reader now." Walker Grant watched him with a smirk that wasn’t a smile.

An inexplicable chill ran down Dylan Finch’s spine. He quickly apologized, "I know I was wrong."

Walker Grant said coolly, "I’m not happy to see her right now. If she comes looking for me in the future, just tell her I’m busy."

"Yes."

Walker Grant said, "Arrange the business trip."

"Yes."

As Chloe Reed sat in her car, a strange feeling washed over her.

The look in Walker Grant’s eyes had been so detached. Just as he’d said, he really had no feelings for her anymore.

The only frustrating part was having to wait until he got back from his business trip to file for divorce.

After taking a moment to compose herself, she drove to the hospital.

She pushed open the door to the hospital room and saw Preston Vance was there as well.

"What a coincidence. I just got here myself," Preston Vance said with a smile when he saw her. "Is this fate?"

"Maybe so," Chloe Reed said. "Are you all done with your errands?"

Preston Vance nodded. "Yeah, so I came to check on her."

Annie York lay in the hospital bed, looking at them timidly.

Chloe Reed walked over to her. "My name is Chloe Reed. I’m the one who hit you with my car. Just focus on resting and recovering. You don’t need to worry about your mother anymore."

Annie York pushed herself up, looking at Chloe with immense gratitude. "Miss Reed, thank you. I’m so, so grateful."

Chloe Reed said, "Just focus on resting and getting better. And don’t forget to pay me back."

"Pay you back for what?"

Preston Vance asked from the side, confused.

Chloe Reed quickly explained the situation to him.

After listening, Preston Vance raised an eyebrow and said with a smile, "That’s a clever idea."

He then turned to Annie York. "You can’t let her down, you know."

Annie York said with great sincerity, "I won’t. I can do all kinds of work, I’m a hard worker. I’ll definitely pay you back, with interest!"

Then, she looked from Preston Vance to Chloe Reed and asked, "Are you two... a couple?"

Hearing this, the smile on Preston Vance’s lips widened. "Do we look like it?"

Annie York nodded. "The way you interact... it seems very comfortable."

Preston Vance immediately looked at Chloe Reed, the amusement in his eyes practically overflowing.

But Chloe Reed said, "I’m married."

Annie York froze, then bit her lip in embarrassment. "Oh, I’m sorry."

Chloe Reed gave a small smile. "It’s fine."

Preston Vance sighed dramatically and looked at Annie York. "Then why didn’t you just assume we were a married couple?"

Annie York pressed her lips together. "Neither of you is wearing a wedding ring."

Preston Vance raised his eyebrows. "Fair enough."

Chloe Reed looked at him. "Mr. Vance, please stop misleading people."

"I’m just being honest."

Preston Vance looked at her earnestly. "What if I told you I’m actually enjoying being associated with you?"

Chloe Reed’s expression stiffened. She hadn’t expected him to say something like that.

"I’m just kidding."

Seeing her stiff expression, Preston Vance said in a softer voice.

Chloe Reed let out a sigh of relief. She then turned to Annie York. "You should get some rest. I’ll come back to see you another day. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to contact me."
