Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 356: No Safety
On the dance floor, someone suddenly shoved Chloe Reed!
Chloe Reed staggered forward two steps. She turned back and saw a cold, white glint flash in the darkness!
’That’s... a knife!’
"Ah, it hurts!"
The next second, someone cried out in alarm, and the scene descended into even greater chaos.
"Chloe? Chloe?!"
Iris Yates’s panicked voice rang out, not far from where Chloe Reed stood.
Chloe Reed wanted to go to her, but she was surrounded by people shoving and scrambling to get out. There was no way through!
"Iris, don’t worry about me! Just run!" Chloe Reed shouted anxiously.
The next moment, a chill shot down her spine. The hair on her arms stood on end. Danger was upon her!
"Miss Reed, run!"
Daniel Hayes’s urgent voice called out.
Chloe Reed’s mind was a mess. She couldn’t think about anything else and scrambled off the dance floor.
Shouting had just given away her position. Someone was coming for her; she had to move, fast!
She also realized she wasn’t safe. She should never have let her guard down!
Her heart pounded with anxiety. People were everywhere—in front, behind, and on both sides—shoving her forward.
’But this direction... It doesn’t seem to be the exit, does it?’
She was shoved along until she reached a hallway!
The hallway was lined with private rooms. People were throwing open the doors, rushing inside, and immediately locking them from within.
"Quick, this one’s empty! Let’s go in."
A few men were right behind her. Spotting an empty room ahead, they squeezed toward it as they spoke.
Chloe Reed was pushed along with them.
’I can’t go into a private room!’
’It’s not safe in there either!’
’I have to get out!’
She struggled to turn and go somewhere else, but someone pushed her again. "Hurry up and get in! It’s safe inside. We just have to wait for the police!"
"I don’t—"
Chloe Reed started to speak instinctively but quickly shut her mouth. She couldn’t make a sound, couldn’t reveal her location.
She gripped the doorframe tightly. ’I’ll wait for them to go in, then I can leave.’
But just then, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
The warmth of a palm spread over her skin as the person yanked her away, immediately opened another door, and pulled her inside to hide.
As she was pulled away, she vaguely heard voices from behind her.
"Damn it, who dragged that woman away? Who the hell is being so nosy?"
"..."
The room was extremely small. Chloe Reed’s back was against a wall, and there was something like a stick next to her. She felt around and realized it was a broom and a mop.
’This is a supply closet?’
Two sets of ragged breaths intertwined. Chloe Reed strained her eyes, trying to see the person in front of her clearly.
She could tell it was a man—tall, with a strong grip. His presence felt vaguely familiar.
But she was too tense to dare ask who it was. All she could do was try to even out her own breathing.
She gripped the mop handle. ’If this man tries anything, I won’t let him get away with it!’
However, after waiting for a while, the person didn’t move. In fact, their breathing steadied. In the darkness, she could almost feel his gaze on her face.
Chloe Reed frowned slightly. She stayed silent, listening carefully for any sounds from outside.
After a burst of chaos, the outside world went eerily quiet.
But her heart sank.
Someone on the dance floor had a knife and was hurting people. And the men who had been shoving her just now hadn’t done it by accident—it was deliberate.
