Chapter 357: Chapter 357: It Is Walker Grant

’The person with the knife and the person who pushed me, were they working together?’

’The bar’s power suddenly went out. Who did that?’

’Could it be that this was all aimed at me?’

’Whose path have I blocked?’

’Why are they trying so hard to kill me?’

Chloe Reed leaned against the wall, utterly dejected. The hand tightly gripping the mop handle went slack.

In the darkness, the man across from her seemed to let out a soft scoff.

The sound was even more familiar. She lifted her gaze to look at him, pressing her lips together but not asking anything.

’It’s not safe right now.’

’And who is this person in front of me?’

The phone in her pocket was vibrating. She wanted to take it out, but the man suddenly grabbed her hand, stopping her.

Her whole body tensed up instantly, and she immediately started to struggle.

But the man was very strong. He held her hand, turned it over, and wrote on her palm: Don’t move.

Chloe Reed froze. Her fingers curled slightly, and she pulled her hand back. Though it felt very strange, she obediently stayed still.

’For now, it seems this man won’t harm me.’

Time ticked by, second by second. The space was so quiet she could clearly hear her own heartbeat, and she found the presence of the man across from her growing more and more familiar.

She thought of Walker Grant.

’But how could that be possible?’

When she contacted him yesterday, he had said he wouldn’t be back for another seven days.

’So, the man in front of me probably isn’t him.’

Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed slightly; her mind was a mess.

The phone in her pocket kept vibrating, and sounds gradually started to come from outside.

"The power’s back on! Everyone can come out now. I’ve already called the police, so none of you can leave for the time being."

It was the voice of the bar’s manager.

’Why is he only showing up now after so much time has passed?’

Chloe Reed was pondering this when, in the next second, the lights overhead suddenly flickered on.

The sudden brightness was jarring, and she instinctively squeezed her eyes shut.

She raised a hand to shield her eyes from the light. Once her vision adjusted, she opened her eyes and saw Walker Grant standing across from her. He was also leaning against the wall, his handsome, sharp features devoid of any particular expression, save for the playful look in his almond-shaped eyes as he watched her.

Her pupils contracted sharply. "You lied to me?!" she blurted out.

As she spoke, she raised her hand to strike him.

But he caught her by the wrist and, with a sudden pull, yanked her into his arms. His other hand wrapped around her waist.

"Chloe Reed, is this how you treat your savior?" the man asked, his tone casual and mild.

Anger flared in Chloe Reed’s clear eyes, but she quickly calmed herself. "Let me go!"

But Walker Grant didn’t let go. Instead, he tightened his arms, holding her even closer.

"I’m not letting go. What if you try to hit me again?"

Chloe Reed’s fingers curled into fists. Staring at his face, she demanded, "Why didn’t you tell me you were back? Why did you lie and say you wouldn’t be back for another seven days? Walker Grant, are you regretting it again?"

"Regretting what?"

Walker Grant spoke slowly, deliberately. "You don’t actually think I’m still in love with you, do you?"

Chloe Reed’s face was devoid of expression.

"You’re overthinking things. We’ll go file for divorce tomorrow. After you sent other women to my bed time and time again, how could I possibly still love you?" Walker Grant scoffed, yet he still didn’t release her.

"Let go of me."

Chloe Reed had calmed down completely. She’d be a fool to believe a word he said.

’Filing for divorce seems like the more reliable option,’ she thought.
