Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 360: You’re Very Concerned About Her?
Chloe Reed looked at the police, her expression blank. "I’ll go with you. I’ll cooperate with the investigation."
Walker Grant watched her, a slight quirk in his eyebrow. He then pulled a marriage certificate from his pocket and said, "She’s telling the truth. We were in the utility closet."
The police officers stared at him, utterly speechless.
’Wouldn’t it have been easier to just admit it from the start?’
’Why make things so complicated?’
’Is he just messing with his own wife?’
Chloe Reed said, "Can I go now?"
"Yes, you can go," the officer nodded.
Chloe Reed turned and walked away. The sound of a man’s steady footsteps followed, keeping an unhurried pace behind her.
Daniel Hayes had finished his questioning and was waiting for her by the door.
Seeing her emerge, he asked, "Miss Reed, is everything alright?"
"I’m fine. Let’s go."
Chloe Reed shook her head and headed for the exit.
Daniel Hayes saw Walker Grant emerge behind her. He frowned, shot him a glare, then quickly moved to catch up with Chloe Reed.
Outside the Blue Night Club, a crowd had gathered—friends and family of those still inside.
"Chloe!"
The voice was Iris Yates’s. She ran over and threw her arms around Chloe Reed.
"I saw the police show up. That was so scary, wasn’t it?" Iris Yates said, her face pale.
Chloe Reed said, "Someone got hurt, so of course it’s a serious matter. But everything’s fine now. Let’s go home."
Iris Yates clung to her arm. "Yeah, let’s go home. I was scared to death tonight."
Daniel Hayes pulled the car around, and the two women got in.
As she was closing the car door, Chloe Reed saw Walker Grant walk out of the club. He was too far away for her to see the expression on his face, but she could make out his relaxed, casual posture.
’Tonight’s incident clearly hadn’t bothered him in the slightest.’
’Running into him had been so sudden, too.’
’And after this, she found it even harder to believe his talk about getting a divorce tomorrow.’
Then, she recalled how casually he’d pulled out their marriage certificate, and her brow furrowed.
’That man is seriously messed up. Who just carries a marriage certificate around with them?’
...
"Walker."
Nathaniel Monroe spotted Walker Grant and immediately walked over. He glanced around before asking, "Where’s your wife? Didn’t she leave with you?"
"You seem very concerned about her," Walker Grant said flatly. "She just got into a car. You can still catch her if you hurry."
Nathaniel Monroe’s expression froze for a second before he let out a nervous chuckle. "Walker, why have you been acting so weird lately? Are you really going to divorce her? If so, why did you bail her out just now?"
Walker Grant gave him a dark look. "Why are you full of so much crap tonight?"
Nathaniel Monroe said, "I’m just curious, is all."
"Then think about it. And if you can’t figure it out, just keep it to yourself." Walker Grant started walking toward his car.
Seeing this, Nathaniel Monroe asked, "You’re not going to keep drinking?"
"You can drink by yourself."
"..."
It was late by the time she got home. The old madam was already asleep, but the housekeeper was still waiting up for her.
Seeing her return, she asked, "Miss Reed, why are you back so late?"
Chloe Reed smiled. "I was just out a bit late. You should go get some rest. You don’t need to wait up for me."
The housekeeper nodded. "Alright."
Chloe Reed drank a glass of water, trying to calm her chaotic thoughts.
The events of the evening replayed in her mind.
It was giving her a massive headache.
’Just who was it?!’
’Why couldn’t they just come and find her directly?’
