Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 359: He Says He Doesn’t Know You
"Miss Reed, have some water."
Daniel Hayes walked over with a glass of water just then. Chloe Reed watched him approach, her brows furrowing slightly.
’Daniel Hayes wasn’t usually this thoughtful.’
At the end of the hall he had come from, Walker Grant stood on the phone, a glass of water in his hand as well.
Chloe Reed averted her gaze and said, "Thank you, but I’m not thirsty."
Daniel Hayes really wasn’t that considerate. Walker Grant had just told him to bring it over. ’What’s the point of bringing this thing over now?’
’Miss Reed definitely won’t drink it.’
’See? I knew it!’
’What a waste of effort.’
Daniel Hayes set the glass aside and stood by Chloe Reed’s side, watching over her.
The bar manager was still apologizing and bowing repeatedly as people continued to question and curse at him.
After such a serious incident, the bar manager bore an undeniable responsibility.
Soon, the police arrived.
To facilitate the investigation, the police cleared out a private room and began calling everyone who had been at the club that night in for questioning, one by one.
The chaos had erupted so suddenly that anyone could be the suspect who had stabbed the victim.
Those with companions to vouch for them would be cleared of suspicion quickly, while those without would be taken to the police station for further investigation.
Soon, it was Chloe Reed’s turn.
She was called in.
An officer asked, "What were you doing when the incident occurred?"
Chloe Reed replied, "I was on the dance floor."
"After the power went out, what did you hear? What did you do?"
Chloe Reed recounted everything in detail.
Finally, the officer asked, "You said you hid in a storeroom with someone. Who was that person?" 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Chloe Reed lowered her eyes slightly and said, "My husband, Walker Grant."
"Alright, you can go for now."
The next person to be called in was Walker Grant.
But a moment later, the police called her back in.
Chloe Reed asked, looking baffled, "Officer, is something wrong?"
The officer said, "Walker Grant says he never saw you."
Hearing this, Chloe Reed abruptly turned to the man sitting on the sofa, her fine brows knitting together. "Walker Grant, do you think this is funny?"
Walker Grant’s posture was relaxed; he didn’t look like he was being interrogated at all. He lifted his eyelids to glance at her and said, "What game am I playing?"
"We were clearly hiding in the storeroom together. Why would you say you never saw me?" Chloe Reed was furious.
Walker Grant’s lips curved into a smirk. "But you didn’t seem too keen on admitting it yourself, did you? You even tried to hit me."
He touched his own face. "Good thing I was on my guard, or you might have actually landed that punch!"
’So this is what he was waiting for!’
’How had she never realized what a bastard this man was?’
Finding the situation ridiculous, she took a deep breath and said, "Fine. I apologize. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have tried to hit you. Can you admit it now?"
"Admit what?"
"..."
"If you two want to have a lover’s quarrel, do it at home. Right now, answer our questions!"
An officer, unable to watch any longer, rapped on the table.
Walker Grant’s cool gaze fell upon him, but only for a moment before he said, "What did she say just now? Repeat it. I forgot."
The officer obliged: "She and her husband, Walker Grant, hid in the storeroom. Do you admit it?"
Walker Grant’s thin lips suddenly curved into a smile as he looked at Chloe Reed. "Is that what you said?"
If she could, Chloe Reed would have loved to claw his face off.
’At a time this serious, he’s just going to keep this up, isn’t he?’
"Yes."
"Then say it again. I need to properly recall it." Walker Grant’s tone was now laced with amusement.
