Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 365: You Should See Each Other More
Preston Vance asked with concern, "How has Grandma been recovering?"
"Everything’s been fine." The old woman smiled kindly, then asked, "Have you been busy lately, Preston? I haven’t seen you in days."
Preston Vance said, "I’ve been alright. I knew you were back, but I was afraid of disturbing your rest, so I didn’t dare visit."
"Nonsense. You should come by more often. We can have a nice chat," the old woman said, nodding.
"Well, since you put it that way, if I start coming around more often, don’t you get tired of me," Preston Vance said, half-joking.
"I won’t," the old woman said at once. "Come by anytime. I enjoy talking with you. And Chloe seems to get along well with you, too. You two should spend more time together."
"Okay."
Just then, Chloe Reed walked out of her room, wearing a face mask.
"Preston, you’re here." Her eyes lit up.
Preston Vance nodded. "I didn’t disturb you, did I?"
"Not at all. My room is very well soundproofed." Chloe Reed smiled faintly, her eyes crinkling. Her voice came out a bit hoarse and muffled.
Preston Vance said, "Perfect timing. I just brought over some soup. Have a taste and see if you like it."
"Mm, okay."
Aunt Lewis had already poured the soup into a bowl. Chloe Reed took a sip, then gave him a thumbs-up. "This is delicious."
Preston Vance watched her with a gentle expression. "If you like it, have some more. This soup is very nourishing. It should help you recover faster."
"Then I’ll definitely finish it all," Chloe Reed said, taking small sips.
Just then, Preston Vance’s phone rang. He answered it, then said to her, "Something just came up. I have to go."
"Okay."
Chloe Reed walked him to the door.
Preston Vance suddenly looked at her and said, "Just have the thermos sent to my place when you’re done with it."
"Okay."
Chloe Reed nodded.
Preston Vance gave her a gentle smile. "Alright, go get some rest. You don’t have to see me out."
The door closed, and Chloe Reed put her mask back on.
Aunt Lewis then asked, "Miss Reed, would you like another bowl?"
"No, thank you."
Chloe Reed seemed drained. She said, "Please wash the thermos and have it sent over to him."
She turned to say goodbye to her grandmother, then went back to her room to rest.
After several days of rest, her body gradually recovered.
That morning, after getting ready, she called Walker Grant.
The phone rang three times before it was answered.
"Hello?"
The man’s cool, magnetic voice came through the line.
Chloe Reed asked, "Are you out of town on business?"
"No," Walker Grant answered bluntly. "Does this mean you’re ready to go finalize the divorce today?"
"Yes. Let’s go now," Chloe Reed said, her gaze dropping slightly. Her tone was completely calm.
Walker Grant let out a low chuckle, then hung up.
Chloe Reed’s lovely brows furrowed. She wanted to call him back. ’But I’ve already told him I’m ready. If he doesn’t respond, that’s his problem, not mine. I don’t need to chase him down to ask what he meant by that.’
Divorce was something they both wanted now. There shouldn’t be any surprises today.
Chloe Reed went out and told her grandmother she was leaving. The old woman said, "Be careful on your way."
"I will."
Chloe Reed gave a small smile, grabbed her bag, and headed out the door.
Daniel Hayes was driving. Just as they neared the Civil Affairs Bureau, they found the road ahead was under construction, forcing them to take a detour.
However, there was a small path nearby they could take on foot.
Chloe Reed didn’t want to take the long way around, so she got out of the car. "Let’s just walk from here," she said.
Daniel Hayes nodded. "Alright."
The two of them started walking toward the Civil Affairs Bureau. Suddenly, the roar of a motorcycle echoed from behind them.
Daniel Hayes instinctively moved to shield Chloe Reed as the motorcycle roared past. In the next instant, her bag was snatched from her hand.
"My identification is in there!"
Chloe Reed cried out in alarm.
