Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 372: If the Mouth Doesn’t Speak
"You bastard!"
Chloe Reed glared at him. "Let me go!"
Walker Grant’s breathing deepened. Watching her increasingly furious eyes, he suddenly lowered himself over her.
In an instant, the tip of his nose touched hers.
Chloe Reed froze.
The disparity in strength between a man and a woman became apparent in that moment. She was completely pinned down.
If he really wanted to do something, she wouldn’t be able to resist at all.
But she didn’t want anything to happen with him. She just wanted to end this relationship as quickly as possible.
She suppressed her temper and continued to glare at him.
Seeing that she had finally quieted down, a flash of self-mockery crossed Walker Grant’s eyes.
"There’s something watching you from the shadows, remember?"
After a long silence, Walker Grant finally spoke.
Chloe Reed averted her gaze, only to feel his breath fan across her face.
Walker Grant stared at her pale face and continued, "Chloe Reed, you have to believe me. I won’t hurt you."
Chloe Reed still didn’t say a word.
But Walker Grant was not satisfied. He gripped her chin and said, "If you’re not going to use your mouth for talking, then let’s use it for something else."
With that, he leaned in to kiss her.
Chloe Reed turned her head again, and his lips landed on her cheek.
She cried, "I get it!"
Walker Grant’s breath fanned across her cheek, sending waves of heat through her skin.
His lips were still pressed there, not moving away.
Chloe Reed tried to shrink back, but pinned inside the car, where could she go?
"Walker Grant, I said I get it! Get off me!"
An inexplicable panic seized Chloe Reed.
The next second, the man sat up.
Chloe Reed scrambled to sit up, watching him with wary eyes.
Walker Grant didn’t spare her a glance. Instead, he got into the driver’s seat and drove off.
The night was thick and dark. Staring out the window into the blackness, a belated fear began to creep up on Chloe Reed.
’I was so careless.’
’What if someone is still watching me?’
’Those people... they really want me dead!’
She couldn’t help but glance at the man driving in front.
’He’s no saint either, but compared to them, I’m safer with him.’
After more than ten minutes of silence, they were about to enter the city.
Walker Grant said, "There’s probably something wrong with your nanny. When you get back, don’t do anything to tip her off. If you don’t trust me, you can find a way to test her yourself."
Chloe Reed gave a very brief response. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
She didn’t dare not answer, afraid he would fly off the handle.
Walker Grant added, "If you need my help, you can contact me anytime."
"Mm."
She would respond when he spoke, but she wouldn’t make conversation.
The atmosphere in the car grew even more strange.
Walker Grant gripped the steering wheel, wishing he could crush it.
With her, he felt a profound sense of powerlessness.
The car stopped at the entrance to the Maplewood Gardens Community. Chloe Reed pushed the door open and hurried inside, as if fleeing from a monster.
Walker Grant took out a cigarette, lit it, and took a harsh drag.
The tobacco taste filled his lungs, stirring his agitated emotions before dissipating with the smoke.
It had little effect.
Thin white smoke rose and spread slowly, obscuring his face.
Just then, his phone rang. It was a call from the nanny at the old family home.
"Hello?"
"Second Young Master, you have to come back! Noah won’t stop crying. He keeps calling for his mom, and I can’t calm him down." The nanny’s voice was frantic, and the sound of a child’s crying could be heard in the background.
