Charles Reed’s expression was grim.

To him, this daughter was nothing but an ungrateful wretch!

They had raised her, yet she never once thought of repaying them. And now, she was at odds with them like this.

"You’re so ungrateful and disrespectful. Do you really think your birth parents will want anything to do with you in the future?"

Charles Reed snapped before turning and going back into the hospital room.

Chloe Reed remained expressionless.

She felt no turmoil inside.

Scenes from the past flashed through her mind.

If they still doted on her as they had when she was a child, she would be in agony right now.

But alas, there were no ’what ifs’.

The door to the hospital room opened again, and Walker Grant stepped out.

His face was a little pale, and his handsome brows were furrowed.

"What did he say to you?"

Chloe Reed shook her head. "It doesn’t matter anymore."

A flicker of worry crossed Walker Grant’s dark eyes as he gazed at her delicate face. "He wouldn’t dare do anything to you. You don’t have to be afraid."

Chloe Reed looked up, her clear eyes fixed on him, and suddenly asked, "What do you mean by saying this to me now?"

After a pause, she reminded him, "Don’t forget, we’ve already signed the divorce papers."

Walker Grant’s expression darkened. "As business partners, I was just showing some concern out of goodwill," he said coolly. "What? Is that not allowed?"

His words left her speechless.

’It’s not like she couldn’t appreciate a kind gesture!’

She fell silent and waited quietly.

After some time, her grandmother came out. Her face was etched with fatigue, and her eyes held an unconcealable sadness.

Chloe Reed’s breath hitched. "Grandma, are you..."

The old woman took her hand and shook her head. "I was just thinking about the past. If I hadn’t gotten together with your grandfather, maybe none of this would have happened."

Chloe Reed pressed her lips together, a complex emotion flickering in her eyes.

Her grandmother was still soft-hearted when it came to Autumn Linton.

After all, that was the daughter she had carried to term.

It was her daughter who had gradually grown distant. As a mother, she had no idea what she had done wrong to deserve such coldness.

Now that she knew the truth, the old woman could only find it all absurd.

"Is Autumn here?"

Just then, an aged voice called out.

They all turned to see a well-kept, elderly woman with graying hair walking toward them.

She was being supported by another person as she spoke to a nurse.

The nurse paused. "What’s the patient’s full name?"

The old woman replied, "Autumn Linton."

The nurse pointed in their direction. "She’s in that room."

"Thank you." The old woman smiled her thanks and then started walking toward them.

Seeing the group standing by the hospital room door, a look of confusion crossed the old woman’s face. But when her eyes landed on Chloe’s grandmother, the smile vanished instantly.

Diana Sutton stared intently at the newcomer. "Susan Bowman," she said. "After all these years, you’re still alive."

Susan Bowman took two steps forward. "Diana Sutton, what are you doing here?"

"I should be the one asking you that! Why are you here? What right do you have to be here?" Her grandmother’s entire demeanor changed, becoming aggressive. Her gaze was sharp as she stared daggers at the approaching woman.

Chloe Reed watched from the side, a suspicion forming in her mind.

’Could this Susan Bowman be the "Aunt Bowman" that Autumn Linton was always talking about?’

’Sunny Reed’s grandmother?’
