Chapter 407: Chapter 407: It’s All Chloe Reed’s Fault

"The one who’s truly out of place is you." Susan Bowman looked at her with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. "If it weren’t for you, Henry and I would have been together."

Grandma, however, wasn’t angry. "As long as he and I are married, you’ll always be the other woman, forever the scum who broke up a family."

’Well said!’

Chloe Reed couldn’t help but want to applaud her grandmother!

She had only ever heard bits and pieces about the past from Autumn Linton, but she could guess the general story.

Even if Grandpa had been forced to marry Grandma, once he was married, he should have been faithful to the end. That was the bare minimum of loyalty.

But Grandpa hadn’t. He was still involved with his "white moonlight"—he was the one who cheated first. Grandma was never in the wrong.

Susan Bowman’s aged face turned ugly, and the wrinkles on it seemed to twist into a fierce expression.

"Hmph. You may have the title of ’wife,’ but you never won his love. You couldn’t even win the love of your own daughter." Susan Bowman sneered, then turned and walked into the hospital room.

Diana Sutton watched her go with an indifferent, completely calm expression.

"Grandma..."

Chloe Reed was a little worried about her.

Diana Sutton gave a small smile. "Chloe, don’t worry about me. I’m fine."

It had just been many years since she’d seen Susan Bowman, and she couldn’t hold back in the moment.

But Chloe Reed was still worried. ’Will she really be okay?’

Grandma might not care what Grandpa thought, but Autumn Linton was her daughter—the daughter she had always doted on, the daughter she had hoped would grow up healthy and happy.

Susan Bowman’s words had been deeply cutting.

Chloe Reed supported her grandmother by the arm. "Let’s go. Let’s head back."

"Alright."

Inside the hospital room.

"Aunt Bowman."

When Autumn Linton saw Susan Bowman, tears immediately streamed down her face. "Why did you come? You’re getting on in years, and your health isn’t good. You shouldn’t be running around for my sake."

Susan Bowman took her hand. "Autumn, how did you get so sick? The last time I saw you, you were perfectly fine."

"Hmph, it’s all because of Chloe Reed!" Charles Reed snorted, his face full of anger.

Susan Bowman looked at him. "Charles, what happened? Tell Aunt Bowman."

Charles Reed sighed and said, "Chloe Reed and Sunny were always at odds. She was constantly targeting Sunny, and then Sunny just disappeared. When Autumn found out, her body couldn’t take the shock. Aunt Bowman, I’m sorry. We failed to take care of Sunny."

"What did you say?"

Hearing this, Susan Bowman swayed and nearly collapsed.

"Aunt Bowman!"

Autumn Linton struggled to sit up but was pushed back down by Susan Bowman. The older woman’s face was filled with sorrow. "How could this happen? Sunny’s parents passed away so long ago, and now she’s missing too. Why is my life so full of misfortune? Why are my loved ones leaving me one by one?"

Autumn Linton was overwhelmed with self-blame. "It’s all my fault, Aunt Bowman. I’ll find Sunny. I swear I’ll find her."

Charles Reed was also deeply saddened, his grief mixed with intense self-reproach and guilt. "This is all because of Chloe Reed. I’ll make her look for Sunny, and I’ll make her apologize."

But Susan Bowman shook her head. "How could you do that? She’s your daughter. You can’t wrong her like this for Sunny’s sake."

"She’s not our daughter," Charles Reed said. "She went and got a paternity test herself. We’re not her biological parents."

"What?" Susan Bowman was even more astonished. "How could that be?"

Charles Reed said, "So it turns out I raised an ungrateful wretch."

Susan Bowman wiped away her tears and said, "In that case, you must make her find your real child. She enjoyed more than twenty years of your care; she has to repay you."
