Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 42: He Protects Sunny Reed
"What right does she have to hit you?"
But Walker Grant’s voice was grim.
But Sunny Reed said, "Miss Yates was just letting off steam for her sister’s sake. I’m fine, really. As long as they aren’t angry anymore, it doesn’t matter what happens to me."
"Dammit, I’m so pissed!" Seeing this, Iris Yates surged forward, ready to throw a punch.
Sunny Reed yelped and instinctively ducked behind Walker Grant.
Walker Grant stared coldly at Iris Yates. "Still not admitting you hit her? Do you want me to chop off your hand?"
Iris Yates was a little intimidated by him, but the fury on her face didn’t fade. "I hit her? With which hand? When? Who saw it?!"
Just then, Sunny Reed said, "This morning, I went to see my sister. You got angry and hit me."
Iris Yates’s eyes widened in disbelief. "What the fuck are you talking about?!"
Chloe Reed figured it out. She grabbed Iris’s arm and stared coldly at them. "You’re saying she hit you?"
Sunny Reed’s eyes flickered for a moment before she lowered her gaze. "I’m fine now. It’s all in the past. Walker, please don’t fight with my sister over something so trivial."
"Get over here and explain yourself!" Chloe Reed stepped forward and grabbed her.
Walker Grant grabbed her hand again. "I saw the slap mark on her face. If it wasn’t you, it had to be her. Do you really think I’d accuse her for no reason?"
"Let go."
Chloe Reed gritted her teeth.
Walker Grant frowned. "All she has to do is apologize, and this will all be over."
"I told you to let go!"
Chloe Reed roared, her face contorted with rage. "I was right there this morning! Iris didn’t touch her! She’s putting on an act!"
’Just like all the other times!’
’Sunny would fall off the swing, roll down the stairs, or break a vase, and then blame it all on me.’
’The same old tricks, the same old scenes... they were practically carved into her soul!’
’And now, Sunny was using those same tactics on Iris!’
’She wouldn’t allow it!’
"Calm down." Walker Grant’s tone was strained. "Shouldn’t people apologize when they’ve done something wrong?"
Chloe Reed raised her hand and swung at him.
SLAP!
The slap didn’t land on Walker Grant. Instead, it struck Sunny Reed right across the face.
She had thrown herself in front of Walker Grant, taking the blow for him.
At the sight, Walker Grant’s pupils constricted. "Sunny?"
Sunny Reed clutched her face as tears streamed down. "I must have misremembered. Miss Yates didn’t hit me. Walker, please stop targeting her."
She looked utterly wronged, her tear-streaked face a picture of tragic beauty.
"I’ve fucking had it! You said I hit you? Fine! I’ll hit you right now! I’ll beat you to death!" Iris Yates was so furious she could spit fire. She lunged forward, ready to claw Sunny Reed’s face to shreds.
"Restrain her!"
With a cold command from Walker Grant, the bodyguards at the door rushed in and grabbed Iris Yates.
"Let her go!"
Chloe Reed roared at the bodyguards, her eyes blazing red.
The bodyguards instinctively let go.
Chloe Reed turned and slapped Sunny Reed across the face again. "Since you said Iris hit you, then I’d better make it true. Otherwise, how can we account for the damage to the Yates family’s reputation?"
She then turned to Walker Grant. "I hit her. Are you going to make me apologize now? Are you going to target me? Are you going to destroy my family?"
Her gaze was as sharp as a knife. The warmth in her eyes was long gone, leaving only cold indifference as she looked at him.
Walker Grant’s expression grew darker and darker, his aura turning dangerously cold. He looked at the bodyguards and ordered in a low voice, "Send her back. And tell the Yates family to pack their things and get the hell out of Breyburn!"
