Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 43: Don’t Bully Chloe
Iris Yates froze, even forgetting to struggle. The color drained from her face. She opened her mouth to curse, but bit the words back.
Chloe Reed stared at the man before her in disbelief. Her eyes grew increasingly red, and her chest heaved violently. "I’m the one who hit her! I’m the one bullying her! Target me! Why are you dragging an innocent person into this?!"
Walker Grant’s expression darkened, and the aura around him grew even more frigid. "So you admit you were bullying her? You’ve been causing a scene for long enough. Are you done yet?"
Chloe Reed’s hands, hanging at her sides, clenched into tight fists. She bit down on her lip, so hard that she quickly tasted blood.
Walker Grant’s pupils constricted for a moment. He suppressed his temper and said, "Stop this, Chloe. Let’s make up?"
Chloe Reed bit her lip tightly, her voice hoarse and trembling as she said, "And what if I don’t?"
Walker Grant, however, glanced at the bodyguard. His meaning was obvious.
He was not going to let Iris Yates go.
Tears burst from Chloe Reed’s eyes. "How could you bully me like this?"
Her voice trembled violently, and as she spoke the last word, she was so choked up she could no longer speak.
She hated this version of herself. Wiping a hand across her face, she looked toward Sunny Reed. "What will it take for you to let Iris Yates go? I’ll get on my knees for you, okay?"
Sunny Reed’s eyes flickered. Her face was aching terribly, and she didn’t speak for a moment.
Chloe Reed made a move to get on her knees.
"Chloe!"
Iris Yates saw this and her eyes widened in fury. She burst into tears. "I was wrong, Walker Grant! President Grant, I know I was wrong, alright? From now on, I’ll steer clear of Sunny Reed. I’ll tuck my tail between my legs and keep a low profile. Just stop bullying Chloe! She loves you so much, how can you treat her this way?"
She sobbed violently, struggling with all her might, but the bodyguard held her in a death grip, preventing her from getting any closer.
Walker Grant’s pupils contracted sharply. He took a step forward and grabbed her. "Who the hell told you to kneel?"
His grip was immense, as if he were about to shatter her arm, yet Chloe Reed felt no pain.
She just gave a bleak smile and said, "I’m asking for her forgiveness. I hit her, so I’m admitting I was wrong. Aren’t I doing exactly what you want? Why are you still not satisfied?"
It was as if a ball of cotton had been stuffed over his mouth and nose, suffocating him. He stared at her intently and ground out, "Then when I said we should make up, why didn’t you agree?"
Chloe Reed lowered her eyes, her lashes trembling fiercely. "I don’t want you anymore."
The atmosphere in the hospital room was incredibly oppressive. A chilling tension filled the air, making it hard to breathe.
Walker Grant kept staring at Chloe Reed, but his words were directed at Sunny Reed. "Sister-in-law, you can leave first."
Then, he added, "Send Iris Yates away."
"I’m not leaving! Don’t bully Chloe! Punish me! Target me!" Iris Yates struggled.
"Get out!"
Walker Grant, however, let out a low roar.
No one dared to remain. The door to the hospital room swung shut.
Walker Grant grabbed Chloe Reed’s shoulders with both hands, looking at her pale face, a look of unfamiliarity in his eyes. "You’d rather kneel to her than make up with me?"
"Yes."
Chloe Reed’s pronunciation was crisp and clear.
’I don’t want it anymore.’
Their sweet past together, her eight years of love for him—she was giving it all up.
"You don’t love me anymore?" Walker Grant’s voice grew a fraction hoarser. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Yes."
Her reply, again, was resolute.
He shook his head. "I don’t believe you."
