Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 52: It Was Me
Seeing the situation escalating, the Grant family’s butler politely escorted the guests out.
When Madam Grant heard about the incident, she was so shocked she nearly fainted.
She was pushed over in her wheelchair. "How is my dear great-grandson?"
The butler quickly said, "He’s already been taken to the hospital, Madam. Please don’t worry too much. Someone caught the young master, so he’ll be alright."
Madam Grant pointed a trembling finger at Chloe Reed. "You vicious woman!"
Walker Grant strode in. He had already heard what happened. Seeing everyone staring at Chloe Reed with cold disgust, he immediately stood in front of her.
"Who said they saw her kick him?"
His sharp, piercing eyes swept across the living room, and everyone inexplicably felt the pressure in the room double.
The maid who had spoken earlier took a step forward and said, "I... I was just at the bottom of the stairs. I think I saw the Second Young Madam kick the young master..."
"You think?" Walker Grant’s handsome brows knitted together. A powerful aura emanated from him, and an icy pressure enveloped the maid. "How dare you spout nonsense about something you aren’t even sure of?"
The maid began to tremble in fear. "I... I..."
But Madam Grant cut in, "If not her, then who? Look at the scenes she’s been causing lately! Walker, how can you still be defending her?!"
Walker Grant’s handsome face was like a mask of ice. "Because I know her. She’s simply not that kind of person."
Sunny Reed was crying uncontrollably. "Walker, it’s because she’s always misunderstood our relationship."
Walker Grant’s sharp gaze fell on her face. "Your son is injured. Why are you still here?"
Sunny Reed’s expression froze. She never imagined he would say something like that!
’Doesn’t he care a lot about Noah?’
’Why isn’t he on my side right now?!’
Autumn Linton tugged her arm. "Sunny, let’s go to the hospital. We need to be there for Noah."
Sunny Reed gritted her teeth and had no choice but to follow her out.
Walker Grant then turned to Charles Reed, his eyes darkening. "Dad, Chloe is your own daughter. Don’t you know her personality? She rescues stray animals and donates millions to charity every year. Do you really think she would harm a three-year-old child?"
Being questioned so publicly, Charles Reed struggled to keep his composure. His face darkened as he said, "She’s always been at odds with Sunny. When you get close to Sunny, she misunderstands and goes crazy. Is there anything she’s not capable of?"
A chill surged in Walker Grant’s eyes. "You’re convicting her based on one person’s word and no evidence. That’s completely out of line."
Charles Reed’s expression soured even more. "Then you tell me, if it wasn’t her, who else could it have been?!"
Everyone turned to look at Walker Grant.
He stood protectively in front of Chloe Reed, shielding her from their scornful and disgusted gazes.
"The Grant family has security cameras. A quick check will tell us everything."
He looked at the butler, who immediately went to see to it.
"It was me."
But just as the tension in the room finally began to ease, Chloe Reed spoke up.
Walker Grant spun around, his eyes narrowing in disbelief. "Chloe, don’t be ridiculous!"
Chloe Reed felt a tearing pain in her heart. A clear handprint was visible on her cheek, and her eyes shimmered with unshed tears. Looking at the man who was protecting her, she felt an overwhelming wave of sorrow.
He shielded her when crisis struck.
But he couldn’t stop himself from paying so much attention to that mother and son.
That was why she was so heartbroken.
’And she realized this was the perfect opportunity to get a divorce.’
’Use public opinion, use the Grant family, use her own ruined reputation to force him into a divorce.’
