Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Walker Grant, I Hate You

"Just look at her! Look! She’s even admitted it! What a vicious woman! A woman like that is absolutely unworthy of being a daughter-in-law of the Grant family. Walker, you have to divorce her!"

Madam Grant, who had been listening from the side, pointed a trembling finger at Chloe Reed, her eyes filled with rage and disgust.

Charles Reed’s expression changed. He looked at Madam Grant and said, "Madam, please don’t be so angry. This child of ours was spoiled rotten, and what she did went too far. I’ll make her apologize to Sunny, and I’ll punish her severely. It wasn’t easy for these two kids to get together; we can’t just talk about divorce so lightly."

But Madam Grant just snorted coldly. "How can they both be daughters of your Reed family, yet one is so gentle, obedient, and graceful, while the other is arrogant, domineering, and vicious?"

Being scolded like this, Charles Reed’s expression darkened further, but facing Madam Grant, he couldn’t offer any rebuttal.

Because Chloe Reed herself had admitted to the crime!

He glared at Chloe Reed. "You scoundrel! How could you do something like this? Get over here and apologize to the madam right now!"

"Enough!"

With everyone arguing noisily, Walker Grant felt his head was about to split. He let out a low roar, and the living room instantly fell silent.

He gripped Chloe Reed’s shoulders with both hands, his fingers tightening slightly. Looking at her expressionless face, his Adam’s apple bobbed as he said in a strained voice, "Chloe, stop this nonsense. You didn’t do this. I know you."

But Chloe Reed pushed his hands away and took a step back. "I did do it. I warned you before. As long as you don’t divorce me, I won’t go easy on that mother and son whenever I see them."

Her gaze wavered slightly as she tried desperately to control her emotions.

’All her life, she had never allowed herself to be wronged. But for him, she had compromised time and time again, given in again and again.’

’And this time, she was even willing to take the fall like this, all just to get a divorce from him.’

’He knew her. He must know what she was thinking.’

’So, what would he choose?’

’Now, all the pressure was on him.’

Walker Grant gritted his teeth, a hint of red slowly creeping into his sharp eyes. He looked at the butler and roared, "Go check the surveillance footage!"

He looked at her again. "The Grant family has security cameras, Chloe. You can’t take the fall for this. They’ve all misunderstood you. You wouldn’t do something like this."

By the end, his voice was trembling.

Her objective was suffocating him, and a dull ache spread through his chest.

’How could she do this?’

’How could she put herself through this just to divorce him?’

’Do we really have to get a divorce?’

Chloe Reed’s hands, hanging at her sides, clenched into fists, her nails digging into her palms.

The butler was quick. When he returned, his eyes darted around nervously before he said, "Second Young Master, the surveillance footage... it’s broken."

"What did you say?!" 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Walker Grant grabbed him by the collar, his sharp eyes turning an even deeper shade of red. "How could the security system just suddenly break? We have so many guests today. Wasn’t the system inside and outside the villa checked?"

The butler’s face was pale. "I-I don’t know when it broke. When I went to check, the screen was just black. Second Young Master, I really don’t know."

"Walker!"

Madam Grant said in a cold, stern voice, "Look at you. Where is your sense of propriety?"

Walker Grant slowly loosened his grip on the butler’s collar. He subconsciously looked toward Chloe Reed, who was standing apart from the crowd.

It was as if she were about to abandon the entire world.

Including him.

She was done with all of it.

"Chloe..."

Chloe Reed lifted her eyes to meet his. "I did it. I resent how close you are to Sunny Reed. I’m angry that you’re so good to Noah Grant. You were with Sunny when she gave birth, you even got a vasectomy. I hate you!"
