Chapter 60: Chapter 60: She Wants a Child, I’ll Give Her One

Madam Grant’s eyes widened in disbelief. "You... you..."

But she sputtered for a moment, unable to articulate anything else.

Her son and daughter-in-law were very strong-willed. After what happened to Julian, they went to work for Doctors Without Borders. She had been vehemently against it at the time, but they paid her no mind and just left.

And now they had returned, only to try and stop the divorce.

Madam Grant was so furious her vision swam. She grabbed the arm of the sofa. "A bunch of scoundrels, all of them..."

「In the study.」

Marcus Grant stared coldly at Walker. "What’s this about a vasectomy?"

Walker sank into a chair and pinched his temples as if fighting a headache. "I saw how much pain Sunny was in when she gave birth," he said. "I didn’t want Chloe to go through that."

"Do you even hear yourself talking?!" Marcus Grant was livid. "Did you even ask Chloe? Did you ask if she wanted a child of her own?"

Walker lowered his hand, his gaze dropping. "She once said she wanted it to be just the two of us."

"So you just assumed she never wanted kids?" Marcus Grant was fuming. "Not wanting them and not being able to have them are two completely different things! Besides, you could have just taken precautions. Why choose a vasectomy? I’m asking you, and you better tell me the truth. Do you have feelings for Sunny?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Walker’s eyes shot up. "Dad, she’s my sister-in-law!"

Marcus Grant’s brow furrowed as he stared intently at his son. "If you know she’s your sister-in-law, then you need to keep your distance."

"And what about Noah?" A bitter laugh escaped Walker. "You and Mom left without a word. Then Sunny found out she was pregnant. She was carrying my brother’s child—my brother’s *only* child! I told you both, and what did you say? That the Grant family would take care of her. But the only ones left in the Grant family were me and Grandma. Who was going to take care of her?"

He stood up, visibly agitated. "We couldn’t just snatch Noah from her. He’s already lost his father. He can’t lose his mother, too."

Marcus Grant’s expression was grim, but he remained silent for a long moment in the face of his son’s accusations.

Walker said, "I admit I was wrong to get the vasectomy. I’ll have it reversed. If Chloe wants a child, I’ll give her one."

"Then you’ll have to win her back first," Marcus Grant said coldly. "Chloe is a good girl. You can’t fail her."

"..."

Judith Pierce took Chloe’s hand, her eyes filled with compassion. "Chloe, do you really have to go through with the divorce? His father will teach him a harsh lesson. We all know how he feels about you. Can’t you just give him one more chance?"

Chloe lowered her long-lashed eyes, which trembled slightly, before pulling her hand away. "Mom," she said, "there’s no going back for me and Walker."

Taking in Chloe’s dejected expression, Judith Pierce sighed in resignation. "Then it’s that foolish boy’s loss."

Chloe looked up at her. "Mom, does that mean you agree?"

"I do." Judith Pierce nodded. "But you can only file for divorce after I’ve found him a new wife."

Chloe’s face paled. "Why?"

Judith Pierce’s brow knitted together. "Walker’s relationship with Sunny can’t be allowed to remain this ambiguous. The Grant family can’t afford that kind of scandal."

Chloe’s fingers tightened into fists. "You can find him someone after we’re divorced. It would be the same."

"No." Judith Pierce shook her head firmly. "I have a gut feeling that Sunny’s intentions aren’t pure. Walker cares deeply for Noah. If you two get divorced, he’ll visit Noah, and one thing will lead to another... What if something happens between them? Two brothers from the Grant family marrying the same woman? We’d be a laughingstock."
