Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 63: Reclaiming the Stolen Role
Chloe Reed clenched her phone, a sarcastic smile touching her lips.
This was Judith Pierce’s show of "good faith."
She had agreed to their terms.
So, the job that had been stolen from her was now being given back.
They really were true to their word.
She took a deep breath and said with a smile, "Alright. Tomorrow, then." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Okay, I’ll be waiting for you." The person in charge then hung up.
Chloe Reed wiped her face with her hand. ’Since the opportunity came knocking, I might as well take it.’
’It was what I deserved.’
’The voice acting role was originally mine to begin with.’
Iris Yates saw that she had stopped crying after taking the call and asked in confusion, "Chloe, what happened?"
Chloe Reed’s lips curved into a smile. "That job that was stolen from me... I got it back."
"Whoa!" Iris Yates exclaimed, throwing her arms around her. "That’s fantastic! That shameless bitch stole your job, so they must have rejected her because she’s incompetent. Heh, who cares if she has some scumbag backing her up? She has no talent of her own but still tries to steal from others. Ptooey!"
She took the opportunity to thoroughly curse out Sunny Reed.
"Good one. If you’ve got more, let ’em have it."
"..."
Sunny Reed received a call informing her that she wasn’t a good fit for the role and that since the contract hadn’t been finalized, the arrangement was off.
She couldn’t believe her ears. After hanging up, she immediately dialed another number.
It was the number of the voice acting company’s boss. She immediately demanded, "Didn’t Walker’s people talk to you? I was supposed to voice that role. Why was I replaced?"
The voice acting company’s boss was named Ken Jacobs. He chuckled and said, "Young Madam, this order came directly from Mrs. Grant. I’m just the owner of a small company. How could I dare to go against the wife of the Grant Corporation’s chairman?"
’Judith Pierce?’
’Why would she suddenly get involved?’
Sunny Reed gripped her phone tightly, her eyes dark and cold. Suppressing her emotions, she said, "Fine. I understand."
After she hung up, her expression was incredibly ugly.
"Mommy..."
Just then, Noah Grant’s voice called out.
Sunny Reed turned with a dark expression and walked straight to the side of the hospital bed. She caressed Noah Grant’s face, and then, under the child’s terrified gaze, her hand suddenly shot toward his thigh.
Noah Grant started to cry with a whimper, but Sunny Reed clamped a hand over his mouth.
She whispered in his ear, "Oh, Noah, why are you so disappointing? Can’t you make your young uncle like you a little more? If he likes you, then he can be your daddy."
...
Walker Grant and Nathaniel Monroe visited the homes of several children and got their statements.
None of the children had seen Chloe Reed kick anyone.
Finally, he returned to the Grant Family Estate and walked directly up to a maid who was cleaning.
It was the same maid who had accused Chloe Reed of kicking him.
Seeing the dark look on Walker Grant’s face, she subconsciously took two steps back. "S-Second Young Master, is... is there something you need?"
"Come here. Tell me, which one of your eyes saw Chloe Reed kick Noah?" Walker Grant beckoned to her.
The maid’s face grew even paler, and she kept backing away. "I... I’m not sure anymore."
"Rocco."
The bodyguard at his side immediately stepped forward, grabbed the maid by the collar, and began dragging her outside.
The terrified maid cried out, but her mouth was muffled.
In the back garden of the Grant Family Estate was a greenhouse. Rocco dragged the woman inside and pulled out a sharp dagger.
"If you don’t tell the truth, you lose a finger." Walker Grant stood at the entrance, leaning lazily against the doorframe while fiddling with a lighter in his hand.
