Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 85: Letting You Be with Sunny Reed
His slightly calloused palm stroked the soft skin of her waist, and her body trembled violently in his grasp.
She struggled even more fiercely.
But the passenger seat was cramped, and with him on top of her, pinning her down completely, her struggles grew weaker and weaker.
Her lips were numb from the kiss, and Chloe Reed’s eyes burned with a mixture of anger and a rosy flush.
Seeing that she was no longer struggling, Walker Grant’s kiss softened. He murmured, "Let’s go back to Jardinelle. We can start over, okay?"
Chloe Reed’s gaze wavered slightly, her eyes welling with a layer of mist, but she stubbornly refused to let the tears fall.
She said, "Fine."
Walker Grant’s body jolted. But before joy could well up inside him, he heard her say, "You’re not allowed to see Noah Grant anymore. You can’t go near Sunny Reed. If she’s there, you have to avoid her."
Walker Grant’s sharp, handsome brows furrowed. "Noah is my older brother’s only child. I watched him be born, watched him grow up..."
SLAP!
The sound of a slap, not quite crisp, echoed in the car.
Chloe Reed had little strength left after her earlier struggles.
But her anger hadn’t diminished in the slightest.
"How dare you bring that up!"
Her gaze was sharp. "Walker Grant, I don’t need you to remind me over and over that you were there for everything, from the moment Sunny Reed got pregnant until she gave birth!"
"You’ve misunderstood."
Walker Grant pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek, reining in his temper. "It was only ever about Noah. Other than you, I’ve never had eyes for any other woman!"
"But I don’t want you anymore."
Chloe Reed’s chest heaved violently. "Cheat on me once, and I’ll never take you back."
"I didn’t cheat."
"But based on your actions, no one would believe you’re blameless. No one would believe you and Sunny Reed are innocent."
Chloe Reed looked at him mockingly. "Did you know? When we were going through our divorce, even my own parents wanted you to get together with Sunny Reed. After all, you dote on Noah as if he were your own son, which would perfectly fill the void of him not having a father."
Walker Grant’s expression darkened, and a frigid aura enveloped him.
"No one makes decisions for me."
He said in a low, tight voice, his expression still grim.
’The Reed family actually thought that way.’
’Did they care so little for their own daughter, Chloe?’
’I always used to think Chloe was just being unreasonable, that she was deliberately bullying her adopted sister.’
But hearing her words now, a sliver of doubt surfaced in his mind.
’Was Chloe really the one being unreasonable?’
’If certain people hadn’t gone too far, why would she have ever acted out like that?’
"Chloe, I never wanted a divorce. I only agreed to it because you forced my hand." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Walker Grant caressed her face. "We were together for eight years. That time wasn’t just us playing house."
But Chloe Reed pushed his hand away and averted her gaze. "I regret it now..."
But before she could finish, Walker Grant kissed her again.
’I don’t want to hear this!’
’It’s making me furious!’
The kiss was forceful, and Chloe Reed could even feel a sting of pain.
KNOCK, KNOCK!
Just then, someone knocked on the car window.
An icy chill instantly flashed in Walker Grant’s eyes as he looked outside.
He saw Miles Hawthorne standing on the passenger side, peering in with a curious expression.
However, the windows were tinted with a privacy film, so he couldn’t see inside.
Walker Grant sat back in the driver’s seat, rolled down the window, and asked, "What is it?"
Miles Hawthorne’s eyes were wide with surprise. "I was going to ask if you two were alright. Why are you parked here?"
His gaze fell first on Walker Grant’s face, then shifted to Chloe Reed’s.
The corners of her eyes were red and slightly damp, and her lips were swollen and red, like ripe cherries.
’You didn’t have to be a genius to figure out what they’d been doing.’
Miles Hawthorne was suddenly embarrassed. He cleared his throat. "Ahem... Should I not have knocked?"
Walker Grant said dryly, "Oh, you think?"
