Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce
Chapter 84: Then I’ll Move In With You
Walker Grant’s dark, intense eyes were fixed on her. He casually took her bag, then grasped her hand and started leading her outside.
Chloe Reed’s expression was icy. She tried to pull her hand away, but he only gripped it tighter.
He led her out of the company building and into his car.
"When are you moving back to Jardinelle?"
Walker Grant asked as he started the car.
Chloe Reed turned her head to look out the window, her tone indifferent. "I’m fine where I am. I don’t need to move."
"Fine," Walker Grant nodded. "Then I’ll move in with you."
Chloe Reed whipped her head around to glare at him. "Absolutely not!"
Walker Grant glanced at her. "Why not? We’re married. Living apart isn’t good for our relationship."
Chloe Reed found it laughable.
Yesterday, she’d hailed him and he’d ignored her. Today, he was talking about working on their marriage.
The mockery in her eyes was too blatant. Walker Grant didn’t like it, so he looked straight ahead, his deep, magnetic voice growing colder. "Chloe, we’re not getting a divorce, so we have to try and go back to the way things were."
"We can’t," Chloe Reed said, her voice rigid.
Walker Grant’s brow furrowed, and another wave of irritation washed over him.
’What does she mean, we can’t go back?’
’Then why did she agree not to get a divorce?’
’Doesn’t that mean she wants to stay married to me?’
His grip on the steering wheel tightened, the veins standing out on the back of his hand. The atmosphere in the car turned frigid.
Chloe Reed said, "Stop the car. I want to get out."
Walker Grant slammed on the brakes, pulling the car over to the side of the road. But he didn’t unlock the doors, instead turning to face her. "Do you have to fight me on this to the bitter end?"
Chloe Reed looked at him coldly. "You say you want to make things work, but what have you done that suggests that? You pick Sunny Reed up from work. Yesterday, I was standing in the rain, trying to flag you down, and you just ignored me. And now today, you’re telling me you want to make things work."
She scoffed. "Walker Grant, don’t you find that hilarious?"
Walker Grant was stunned for a moment. Then he said, "I didn’t see you."
"Whatever," Chloe Reed said. "You need to understand something. From the moment you decided to take care of Sunny Reed, we were already headed for the end. It was only ever a matter of time."
"How many times do I have to explain? She’s my sister-in-law! There’s nothing going on between us!" Walker Grant’s voice was tinged with exasperation. He grabbed her wrist. "Chloe Reed, we’ve been together for eight years. Is that really the kind of despicable person you think I am?"
His grip on her wrist was painful. Chloe Reed froze for a second, staring at the handsome, sharp-featured face of the man before her.
His face was so incredibly familiar to her.
A wave of bitterness washed over her. She took a deep breath before speaking. "I truly never thought you were this kind of person."
"Chloe Reed!"
Walker Grant growled, pinning her against the seat, his eyes blazing with fury.
’She actually believes it!’
’How could she think that of me!’
’All this time, she’s been irrational, cold, and even resorted to every trick in the book just to divorce him.’
"I could strangle you,"
he said through gritted teeth.
Chloe Reed’s body tensed. Seeing the fury burning in his eyes, she said mockingly, "Why are you so angry? Is it because I’m getting in the way of you and your dear sister-in-law..."
But before she could finish, his mouth came crashing down on hers.
’He didn’t want to hear what she was saying!’
’This was the only way to shut her up, to cover her in his scent.’
"Mmph!"
Chloe Reed pushed and struggled against him.
But Walker Grant pinned her firmly in place, his other hand sliding under her clothes.
