Chapter 99: Chapter 99: She Often Has No Morals

Does she really like her?

That depends on who you’re comparing her to.

Compared to Sunny Reed, Judith Pierce would naturally choose Chloe.

But now that Chloe was demanding a divorce, Judith Pierce would get to choose the daughter-in-law she actually preferred.

I hope she succeeds.

"..."

「The next day.」

Chloe Reed was feeling a bit better, so she went to work as usual.

When she arrived at the office, she saw Sunny Reed wearing a mask as if she had a cold. But Chloe knew it was just a pathetic attempt to hide the obvious.

Sure enough, a coworker went over to check on her.

"Sunny, what’s wrong? Did you catch a cold? Why are you wearing a mask?"

Sunny Reed shook her head. "No, I don’t have a cold. I just accidentally hurt my face, and I’m wearing a mask because I was afraid I’d scare everyone."

This made the coworker even more curious. "How did you hurt your face? Let me see if it’s serious. If it is, I think you should go to the hospital."

With that, she pulled the mask off Sunny Reed’s face and gasped.

"Oh my god, did someone hit you? Why is it so swollen?"

Her exclamation drew the attention of more people.

Sunny Reed frantically put her mask back on, instinctively glancing over at Chloe Reed. "I’m fine," she said. "Nobody hit me. You should all get back to work. I have to go to the recording studio."

It was a calculated glance, and everyone instinctively turned to look at Chloe Reed.

Rumors that the two didn’t get along had been flying around the office for ages.

In that instant, a theory began to form in their minds.

Chloe Reed had hit Sunny Reed.

Sunny Reed often bought everyone milk tea and desserts, which had won her a lot of goodwill. So, naturally, some people immediately started giving Chloe Reed dirty looks.

Chloe Reed was reading her script when a coworker passing by suddenly stumbled, spilling coffee all over it.

"Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry! I didn’t do it on purpose," the person apologized profusely, rushing over to help wipe the coffee off the script.

But the more they wiped, the worse the mess got, until the last few pages were completely ruined.

Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed. "That’s enough," she said. "I’ll handle it."

But the coworker insisted, "Does this mean you forgive me? I really didn’t mean to do it."

Chloe Reed gave her a cool look. "I can’t forgive you. You made a mistake, and you should apologize for it."

The coworker’s expression changed, and she became accusatory. "What is wrong with you? I didn’t do it on purpose! I already said I was sorry, what more do you want?"

Her outburst immediately drew the attention of the others in the office.

"Chloe Reed, you shouldn’t be so aggressive. Why do you have to be so overbearing? Do you think it makes you look powerful?"

"Yeah, she already apologized, but you just won’t let it go. We all work in the same office; you’re taking this too far."

"..."

Chloe Reed’s gaze swept coolly over the onlookers. She crossed her arms, turned back to the person in front of her, and said, "Fine. Kneel for me, and I’ll forgive you."

’They want to guilt-trip me?’

’Too bad for them. Sometimes, I choose to be amoral.’

’This could have been resolved with a few simple words, but if they wanted to make a big scene, she didn’t mind playing along.’

The coworker was clearly stunned, staring at her in disbelief. "Wh-what did you say? How can you bully someone like that? It was an accident, and you’re actually telling me to kneel for you? You’re so vicious!"

The others also began to glare at her, as if she had committed some unforgivable crime.

But Chloe Reed’s expression remained indifferent. "So, are you going to kneel? If not, get out of my way. Don’t keep me from my work."

The coworker was so angry she started to cry, but then she remembered her objective. Gritting her teeth, she said, "Fine. I’ll kneel. I’ll get on my knees and apologize to you. I just hope you can forgive me."
