Fengyu smiled as he thought about these things. He thanked the receptionist and left ten spirit stones before turning around and leaving the city hall, looking at the people here with a look full of hope and expectations.

He smiled at the half-beasts who looked more human, and even petted a small boy who looked like a humanoid dog, telling him to not run around.

The half-beast dog saw that he was nice and said he had lost his father.

"Oh, there are such cases even in this place!" Fengyu was surprised, even in the cultivation world there would be a case of a child being lost?

Feeling the child’s energy, he saw that he was closer to a ’Spirited’ beast, not a mortal but also not a cultivator. Maybe a sign that this boy was really young, not even reaching the age to cultivate?

Thinking of this, he felt sorry and waited for a short while.

"Huo Hong! Hong’er! Hong’er!" a strong cultivator with a Foundation Building presence shouted as he sniffed the air, until he finally saw his Hong’er a bit further away, holding the hand of a human, chatting kindly with him.

"Hong’er!" the dog came in a rush, accidentally pushing someone. He apologised as he quickly walked over, taking his body into his arms and hugging him deeply, "Hong’er, why did you run away suddenly?" the man asked, his expression full of worry, no anger in sight.

"Father, there was a butterfly flying around..." Hong’er explained while tearing up, "Father, I tried to go back but I didn’t see you! The smell, the smell here is so strong, I couldn’t smell father!"

’Oh, that’s why they got lost. Well, for me it doesn’t really smell, but with so many beasts around, the smells they give off probably block the usually good tracking nose of dogs!’

"Hong’er, don’t leave my side again, okay? I’ll buy you a bunch of butterflies, you can play with them in our field, there is no need to go wander around!" the father patted his son on the back, trying to calm him down.

Seeing his tears stopping, he sighed a sigh of relief and turned to Fengyu, "Thank you fellow daoist for helping me take care of my son!"

Fengyu waved his hand, "Why thank me? We’re all citizens, it’s natural that we look after each other’s children. Just be careful next time, butterflies... who knows whose butterfly flies around in the city?"

In the city, even a butterfly could be a cultivator, who could you dare to chase after one and annoy them?

"Thank you fellow daoist for the reminder!" the dog suddenly felt a hidden pressure, why didn’t he think of this?

"Haha, no worries! You must be new to the city, well I am too. Just be careful and make sure to talk with your son more often, but don’t lock him up in the field. Since you rented a field, you should engage more with your neighbours! It’s always better to have more people than to have less!" Fengyu said a last line out of kindness before leaving.

Such a scene seemed normal and no one around thought it was weird...

Fengyu felt like this big city somehow had the feeling of one big neighbourhood!

But as he walked further into the north, he saw more and more cultivators, some with ominous auras and some that looked like they were trying to make trouble.

’In the future, only the districts with a familiar aura should be treated well. The rest should be avoided!’ Fengyu thought though this distinction was rather superfluous, since there were exactly three regions that could be treated like a big family - the Eastern Gate with most people being part of the neighbourhood, the Half-Beast District of the north, and probably the Spirit Beast District in the southwest.

After all, these places were all places where people remained for a long time, with many ties to the community and many economic connections. Once you are bound on various levels, you will carefully consider your reputation on the outside and no longer be reckless.

Meanwhile, the other districts in the north and west had too many guests from outside who would only stay for a short time. Such a person didn’t mind murder and robbery, so you would have to be careful.

As for the south... it was like an elite district, something too distant from the more familiar vibe of a neighbourhood.

...

Fengyu marked many matters in his mind as he walked to the Northern Main Street, which was a sight to behold -

The street was large enough for ten carriages to drive next to each other, and on each side, there were three or four story buildings for various purposes, from general stores to specific stores for alchemists and such, and many of them were also tea houses and restaurants!

Looking at the decorations of each store, it seemed like they all had big backgrounds, which was probably why they could have a store in the main street!

On one end of the street, there was a huge nine-story building, with several smaller buildings to the side, this was the - Grand City Court!

The other end was a huge gate, so large Fengyu could see it even from here.

From gate to court, this was a clear sign of authority, a huge shield telling people, "If you cause trouble here, you will be swiftly dealt with!"

Fengyu couldn’t help but look a few more times before he turned around and walked down a smaller yet still very large road, large enough for five carriages, clearly one of the most important roads here.

Left and right he once again saw apothecaries, but this time, there was no such thing as alleyways with smaller doctor’s offices... instead, each apothecary was extremely specialised and had many items, clearly each of them having a unique business.

He entered one of them and instantly smelled a breeze of fresh and dried herbs!
