Chapter 30: Battle Between Princesses

Edmund slowly opened his eyes, his focus fixed ahead as he saw the woman’s scythe stop in place.

Not because of sympathy, nor because she felt pity. Someone had stopped the scythe from continuing to pierce Edmund’s body.

He turned his head and saw that the one who came to save him was Leonor, the half-demon woman who possessed powers similar to the woman before him.

"Stop, Sister Morgana!" she shouted firmly.

The mature red-haired woman named Morgana turned to the side. A wide smile spread across her face the moment her eyes landed on Leonor.

"Leonor?!"

Unexpectedly, she dismissed the scythe, turning it into crimson-red magical particles that scattered into the sky.

Morgana stretched out both arms and tightly embraced Leonor, the younger sister she had long missed.

Edmund was still weak from shock, unable to understand what was happening before him. Blood continued pouring from the stab wound in the left side of his chest.

"Oh... Leonor. I missed you so much," Morgana said while hugging Leonor tightly.

Leonor looked suffocated and struggled to breathe, trying to free herself from Morgana’s embrace while glancing toward Edmund’s condition.

"Wait, Sister. I need to save him," Leonor said.

She managed to break free. Morgana looked slightly surprised as Leonor stepped toward Edmund.

She crouched in front of him, her anxious and restless expression clearly visible.

Edmund’s condition was far worse than Leonor had expected. In her opinion, Edmund was lucky to still be alive even while on the verge of death, especially after fighting one of the daughters of the Demon King of Mughort.

Leonor opened her palm, summoning crimson mana energy above it and forming a small orb.

"What are you doing, Leonor?" Morgana asked.

"You injured him this badly!" Leonor snapped as she turned and glared sharply at her sister, "I’ll deal with you later."

"He’s only a human. Why are you—"

"SHUT UP!" Leonor screamed.

She swung her hand sideways, releasing crimson mana that blasted Morgana far backward.

Morgana tried to withstand Leonor’s power by planting her scythe into the ground.

She managed to hold her position, suffering only minor injuries. Morgana once again absorbed crimson mana from the forest monsters, restoring her condition.

She blasted me away using the power of Goddess Lilith. Has she already merged the two souls?

If she has, and she sides more with humans, the Demon Kingdom of Mughort will suffer a huge loss.

From Leonor’s palm, the crimson orb shot into Edmund’s body, directly into the stab wound in the left side of his chest.

In an instant, a crimson aura burst out and covered Edmund’s entire body.

"Akhh..."

"Hold on, Edmund," Leonor pleaded with tired eyes.

Edmund nodded and closed his eyes, allowing Lilith’s crimson energy to heal his body.

Its mechanism worked almost the same as Morgana’s regeneration ability. Edmund’s body absorbed the crimson energy from the orb Leonor released.

From another direction, Sebastian arrived in the forest earlier than expected.

His eyes widened in shock as he saw the destruction scattered across the savanna field, the aftermath of Edmund’s battle against the woman in the red dress.

Not long after, Sera arrived together with Rosie. Sebastian had specifically brought the two of them along.

Sera would help kill the red-dressed woman, while Rosie would be responsible for healing Edmund’s condition.

However, when the three of them arrived, they could only stare in shock at the already-finished battle and the destruction left behind across the savanna field.

"Did Edmund win?" Sera asked.

Rosie scanned the area and noticed fallen trees on the other side of the forest.

There, she saw Edmund sitting weakly against a tree.

"He’s over there," Rosie said.

Sebastian and Sera turned and hurried toward him. But their steps stopped again when they saw a woman walking out from the forest where the trees had collapsed.

Each step she took across the grass was accompanied by a heavy surge of crimson energy.

Her hand stretched out to the side, manifesting a sword made from Leonor’s crimson mana.

"Leonor?!" Sera gasped.

Hearing Sera call her name made Leonor instinctively turn around.

But her face and expression were cold and indifferent, as though she had more important matters to handle.

Sebastian fell silent in confusion. There were two women on the savanna field with dark red hair, and their faces looked almost identical like twins.

"Didn’t I already tell you? I refuse to follow Father’s plan!" Leonor declared firmly.

Morgana grinned while staring at her younger sister’s challenging expression, "You are a demon. You have no place among humans!"

"You were destined to help the kingdom defeat mankind, Leonor," she muttered.

"If defeating humans means killing Edmund, then I refuse!"

The woman in front of Leonor smiled, lifting her scythe and resting it on her shoulder, "Looks like you and I really are different."

Morgana dashed forward in a crimson flash. Leonor immediately did the same, swinging her sword to clash against Morgana.

Sera and the others still did not understand what was truly happening.

Edmund had suffered fatal injuries, Leonor appeared unexpectedly, and now she was fighting against the woman in the red dress.

"What exactly is going on?" Sera asked in confusion.

"Go help Edmund recover, Rosie," Sebastian instructed.

Leonor heard Sebastian’s words, turned to the side, and shouted loudly, "Don’t touch Edmund!"

Rosie instantly stopped moving, startled by Leonor’s thunderous shout. She glanced toward Sebastian, waiting for his next decision.

"Leonor probably has her own method of healing Lord Edmund. We should trust her," Sebastian replied.

Sera narrowed her eyes, staring sharply at the red-dressed woman who continued battling Leonor without pause.

Every time their powers collided, crimson mana explosions erupted in the sky with sharp bursts of sound.

Sera could not simply stand there doing nothing. Her student was fighting a mysterious woman who was clearly stronger. Leonor would not survive a prolonged battle.

"Rosie! Prepare your demon purification rune!" Sera ordered.

"Yes, Sister Sera."

"Help me attack that woman, Sebastian," Sera added.

"I understand," Sebastian replied.

Sera closed her eyes and began chanting a spell, gripping her staff while aiming it toward Morgana.

Leonor was beginning to show signs of exhaustion. Morgana laughed loudly as she felt herself gaining the upper hand.

"HAHAHA!"

"What happened to you, Leonor? You’re weaker now."

"Did spending time with weak humans make you weak too?!" Morgana mocked.

"Shut up!" Leonor shouted.

The girl charged forward once more and swung her sword. Leonor raised her hand, created a crimson mana orb, and crushed it.

From the mana explosion in her palm, three giant portals appeared above her head.

Three massive meteors shot out from the portals and targeted Morgana.

"Good! Come and show me your power, Leonor!" Morgana shouted.

Just as Morgana gripped her scythe with both hands and prepared to swing upward, she was shocked by green rune roots emerging beneath her body.

Her eyes widened in surprise, "Magic?"

She lifted her head and looked beyond Leonor, where two human women were surrounding her with powerful abilities.

Roots burst from the ground and restrained Morgana’s movements.

At the same time, shadow fingers spread across her body, trapping her within two different sealing magics of separate elements.

"You lowly humans!" she screamed.

But it did not stop there.

A golden magic rune appeared above Morgana’s head and slammed down with gravitational pressure, weakening her demonic power and causing the scythe in her hand to disappear.

"DEMON PURIFICATION MAGIC?!" Morgana roared.

A bright light appeared before her as the three meteors descended at terrifying speed, now dangerously close to her body.

Her eyes widened as she realized she could no longer defend herself.

BLAST!

A massive explosion destroyed the entire savanna field, burning all the grass to ashes, scorching the earth, and setting nearby forest trees ablaze.

The explosion was so loud and powerful that it could even be heard from Archester City.

Several citizens paused in confusion, wondering where the explosion came from.

Sera reacted quickly by forming a root dome to protect Rosie and Sebastian while powerful winds and intense heat from the meteor flames swept across the area.

After the pressure faded, she dispelled the root dome and looked around at the surroundings, completely destroyed and burning, the environmental damage massive.

Leonor fell from the sky and landed on her knees. She clutched her chest tightly, breathing heavily as the crimson energy within her body was nearly depleted.

Not only had she used the meteor attack, but she had also spent enormous amounts of crimson energy healing Edmund.

"No wonder... Father wants you to come back so badly," Morgana muttered.

Sera hurried over to Leonor and helped her recover by handing her monster cores.

Since she already knew Leonor’s true origins, she was able to react appropriately.

"Thank you, Sister Sera," Leonor said as she absorbed the crimson energy from the three monster cores.

Sebastian and Rosie also approached, standing protectively in front of Leonor.

The smoke gradually faded, revealing Morgana once again with one arm severed, burn wounds across parts of her body, and half of her hair burned away.

The dress she had been wearing was completely destroyed, leaving her entirely naked.

She struggled to stand while staggering weakly. Sera prepared to kill her. But then something unexpected happened.

Three portals appeared behind Morgana, and from them emerged three fully armored red knights. Their helmets concealed their entire faces.

"Princess Morgana."

"His Majesty requests your return," they said in deep masculine voices.

Sera and Sebastian immediately widened their eyes in shock upon realizing the identities of the three red armored knights.

"Darkness Knights?!" they exclaimed.

One of the dark knights stepped forward, though he did not approach Sera and the others directly.

The eye slits in his helmet glowed bright red as he stared ahead.

"Sooner or later, we will bring you home, Lady Leonor."

"Until that time comes, please take care of yourself," he declared with authority.

They stepped back into the magic portal. However, Morgana stopped and turned toward Leonor.

"I can sense crimson energy inside that man’s body. Was that your doing, Leonor?" Morgana asked.

"You don’t need to interfere in my business!" Leonor snapped.

"Interesting," Morgana replied, "Let’s see how Father reacts when he learns you shared your demonic power with a human."
