Chapter 29: Supernatural Power
Supernatural Power, an innate ability that some humans are born with.
At times, it could be something relatively simple, such as a stronger mind or enhanced lungs compared to an average person. These were considered minor enhancements, borderline superhuman traits.
However, true supernatural abilities were far more extraordinary.
They included talents such as instantaneous comprehension, innate telekinesis, resistance to extreme temperatures, pain suppression, or even the ability to walk into someone else’s dreams.
While many of these feats could be replicated through magic, those who possessed them naturally held a distinct advantage.
Magic depended on mana, and once depleted, it could no longer be used. Supernatural abilities, however, were intrinsic – they did not rely on such limitations.
And now, hearing that Paul supposedly possessed a supernatural ability, everyone looked at him with renewed interest.
Some gazes were filled with curiosity.
Others... were far more calculating.
Certain individuals had already begun thinking about how to recruit Paul into their faction.
"Uhh...?"
Paul stood there with a huge question mark on his face as sweat began to form on his forehead.
"Come on, Paul! Show them your moves!" Caelum shouted again between bites.
’What moves? I want to punch you right now!’ Paul thought.
The invisible pressure around him intensified as his already fragile mental state began to collapse inward.
His social anxiety surged uncontrollably, though fortunately, his glasses continued to flash dramatically, masking his expression.
His face turned slightly red as he forced himself to eat faster, trying to escape the suffocating attention.
Some time later...
"I c-can’t... no m-more...!"
Thud!
Paul collapsed.
His stomach had swollen to nearly two and a half times its normal size.
"Tsk, I thought he had some kind of organ-related supernatural ability."
"But doesn’t that make this unfair now? It’s one versus two."
"Still... Caelum is single-mouthly fighting both of them."
"...?"
The crowd continued making strange observations, but their excitement remained undiminished.
"Haha! As expected, humans are weak–COUGH!" Sénior choked mid-sentence but continued eating regardless.
Caelum, on the other hand, remained calm.
He, too, was approaching his natural limit.
But as a cultivator with a job of defying Heavens, he had a cheat.
While Bonjour and Sénior relied purely on their physical capacity, Caelum circulated Qi internally, accelerating digestion and converting food directly into energy.
The more he ate.
The more energized he became.
Time passed.
Bonjour’s expression suddenly changed.
’Impossible...!’
Although slower than them, Caelum was now consuming more food than both of them combined.
"I can’t lose!" Bonjour roared as his warrior spirit ignited.
In his frenzy, he even began eating the plates themselves.
No one stopped him.
After all, barbarians were known for their terrifying digestive abilities, which allowed them to eat almost anything.
"Damn!"
"That’s insane!"
"Now that’s a barbarian!"
"I suddenly feel like trying a plate myself."
To civilized individuals, nothing was more barbaric than eating the plate along with the meal.
Meanwhile Jordon Ramtalk, having completed his inspection, returned, only to find that the food duel was still ongoing.
"Fukd!" he muttered, somehow managing to misspell his signature curse as he strode toward them.
The surrounding students quickly scattered as the Head of the Food Faculty approached.
"You four! How dare you waste foo–"
He stopped mid-sentence.
The table was almost completely empty.
A few plates were missing as well... but he chose not to comment on that.
Paul was down (RIP).
Sénior had stopped moving entirely, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Bonjour was still eating but so slowly that it felt like reality itself had a ping of 1000000ms.
And Caelum?
He was eating normally.
He had even finished Paul’s portion... and whatever the barbarians had left untouched.
Jordon’s eyes gleamed as he observed the scene.
In the next moment, he appeared behind Anastasia and Loreal, startling both of them.
’How did he arrive without alerting me?’ Loreal thought, her expression tightening.
"Student Anastasia," Jordon said in a deep voice.
"Don’t you think this match is already decided?"
"Uh... but we agreed it would continue until the last person stops eating," Anastasia replied hesitantly.
Jordon narrowed his eyes slightly before glancing at Bonjour, who was now clearly unable to continue.
Without another word, he pulled out a red pill and a blue pill, merged them into a single purple pill, and then compressed it until it became completely invisible.
"I suppose that makes me the winner," Caelum said calmly.
"Human... this is not over! A-after some time, we will have a duel of warriors!" Bonjour declared with great difficulty.
"Haha, a loser is a loser, no matter the game," Caelum replied as he finished the last dish.
Now, however, he had another problem.
He needed to deal with the overwhelming energy inside his body... along with the other consequences of overeating(?).
"What a cheating brat," Jordon muttered, before flicking the invisible pill straight into Caelum’s mouth.
"What?! Did you just feed me rat poison?!" Caelum exclaimed, but the pill had already dissolved instantly.
"It’s not rat poison, it’s brat poison." Jordon replied calmly.
"And quite clever of you, using energy circulation to aid digestion. I wonder how you’ve achieved such precise control," he added, studying Caelum with clear interest.
Suddenly, Caelum clutched his stomach.
"Shit–!"
Without another word, he bolted away at full speed.
He was in serious shit pain, whatever Head of the Food Faculty had given him was definitely not a good thing, maybe it was good to certain people but definitely not him.
"Haha! That’s what you get for your actions!" Jordon Ramtalk declared, thoroughly satisfied.
At the very least, the food hadn’t gone to waste.
