Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 103 - Frost Dragon(Part 2)
I’m having second thoughts about this whole thing...while it is in my interest to have that Dragon killed since it rampaging all over the place is far from ideal, I also don’t want to be killed myself. And I think that’s a very real possibility against a creature like this.
Okay, if everything goes to shit, I’ll just hole up in my Pocket Dimension and wait it out. Prysm should have the common sense to teleport away out of town once she sees it or notices the commotion it’ll inevitably cause.
There’s no merit to her in trying to save anyone, since, you know, it’ll give away the fact that she possesses the Light Attribute. I’ve made sure to make it clear to her that using her powers to help others would be far more detrimental to her than helpful.
Sure, it’s possible that there are some people would be grateful to her if she saved them. But that won’t go for the vast majority, most people would probably try to kill her or capture her and hand her over to the Nobles.
The same goes for me when it comes to my Light Attribute abilities...without being able to use them, I can’t fight at my best. Flying with Elemental Wind is far easier and a lot more efficient than with Elemental Flame, but I can’t use the former in front of other people. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Okay, I spoke to all the other teams, they’re rushing back to town as we speak," Rosary informed me, as she put away the phone in her backpack.
"Yeah, I know. I could hear you talking, you know," I pointed out in response.
"Oh, right. Alright, we’ve covered about half the distance back to town...I hate to say it, but the Frost Dragon has probably already reached the town," Remarked Rosary with a grimace.
"Mhm, that’s probably the case. It can fly faster than I can, after all," I replied with a nod.
"Isn’t there any way you can go faster?" She inquired with a look of frustration on her face.
As a matter of fact...yes, I can. If I combine Jet Soles with the Elemental Wind Spells Flight and Jet Boost, my speed will increase quite significantly. It’ll take a fair bit of Mana, but I should have enough to spare since it’s not that much of a distance further.
But that’s not the main problem, I can’t afford to give away the fact that I possess the Light Attribute. Flight swirls wind around the user’s body, allowing them to control the air currents around them and fly freely...using that would definitely give away that I’m a Heretic.
But Jet Boost could work, though using both it and Jet Soles without the control and support afforded by Flight is gonna be kinda rough...
"Uh, well...yes, I can, but I can’t totally control it, so it’s gonna be a bumpy ride. You might want to shut your eyes and mouth tight," I advised her, before activating the Spell as she took my advice and closed her eyes and mouth.
I then activated Jet Boost, a Wind Spell that works just like the Flame Spell Jet Soles. It’s more effective than Jet Soles on its own, but the most effective option to boost my speed...is to combine them.
"W-woah...!" Blurted out Rosary before quickly shutting her mouth again, as my speed drastically spiked immensely and I zoomed through the air rapidly.
O-okay, so, uh...I wasn’t lying when I told her that I can’t totally control this, in fact I’m kinda out or control right now. I can barely see where I’m going, unable to keep my eyes fully open. I should be high up enough that I don’t crash onto a tree, really hope I don’t run into a bird or something.
I then began slowing down as I suddenly felt the air getting colder and colder, reducing my speed to the maximum level at which I could control properly without using Flight.
"Oh, shit," I muttered grimly, as I stared at the carnage taking place.
We were just above the entrance to the town we’d headed out through, and it was absolute mayhem down there. Screams of panic were ringing out, the area by this entrance covered in ice.
Statue-like figures of frozen people were all over the place, with some people having lost body parts that had been frozen and snapped off, crying out in pain. And about thirty meters ahead of us, was the Dragon, which was starting to swoop down towards the ground.
It shot down with a rapid flap of its wings, its feet slamming onto the frosty ground before it snapped its jaws at the frozen people, chomping them to bits as their bodies shattered like glass in its jaws, tiny shards of ice glimmering bloody red raining down from its mouth.
"Put me down, quickly!" Exclaimed Rosary urgently, shaking my shoulders.
"No way, you’ll die," I replied with a shake of my head, before I manifested my Soul Weapon and swung my whip straight down at the back of the Dragon’s neck while extending and sharpening it.
As it rapidly sliced through the air down towards the massive creature, it suddenly stiffened and turned its gaze back this way right as my whip began to close in on it, before it rapidly flapped its wings out, sending a powerful gust of wind bursting out.
The force struck and knocked back my whip, the tip hitting the Dragon’s scales and tearing a few off, drawing out a slight trickle of blood. It let out a vicious, enraged snarl as it opened its jaws this way and began charging up its frost breath.
"Initiate Skill: Bind!" Snapped Rosary, extending out her golden chains and sending them shooting towards the Dragon.
Right as it began to fire out its frost blast, the chains wrapped around its jaws and snapped them shut, streaks of frost bursting out through its nostrils and the corners of its mouth, before I swiftly took aim, stiffened my whip and sent it rapidly extending towards the spot between the Dragon’s eyes.
It suddenly flew up right as my whip closed in on it, my weapon slightly grazing the bottom of its jaw and the underside of its neck and chest.
The Dragon shot towards us as it broke the chains off its jaws by clawing at them, rapidly spinning around and swinging its tail at us in the blink of an eye, which closed in on us in the blink of an eye.
Initiate Skill: Pocket Dimension! Initiate Skill: Magic Eater! Light Attribute: Super High Speed Regeneration! Light Attribute: High Speed Healing!
As I simultaneously activated two Spells and two Skills, I first opened a portal to my left, the direction in which the Monster’s tail was barreling in towards us, before extending out Magic Eater towards the Dragon, stealing as much of its Mana as possible, while preemptively healing myself and Rosary.
The instant that its tail reached my portal, I swiftly shut the portal, abruptly chopping off a large chunk of the end of its tail, eliciting a snarl of pain from it, right as what was left of the end of its tail slammed onto us with a bloody, powerful splat.
I felt myself getting sent flying across the air at an alarming speed, shooting towards the ground rapidly. I could feel Rosary tightly clutching onto me, as I braced myself.
I recovered almost all of my Mana with Magic Eater, so there’s no need to be conservative! I focused while doing my best to stay calm, activating an Elemental Earth Spell to form a massive, thick wall of soft sand to break our fall.
My right shoulder crashed onto the mass of sand, getting dislocated before setting back in place as I healed it, forming more and more sand further back as I’d barely slowed down upon initial impact.
As we finally started to slow down, I relaxed for a moment and lost my focus, losing my hold over Rosary as we hit the ground and skidded across it painfully.
I let out a groan as we came to a stop, my body badly skinned, stinging pain throbbing across my skin. Ow, that was really rough...the Dragon must have used its tail instead of its frost breath since it must have been wary of Rosary using her chains to shut its jaws again.
Even with most of the end of its tail torn off with my portal, that was still an immense amount of force that struck us. My left arm was completely shattered along with some of the ribs on my left side taking pretty severe damage, I may have healed the damage almost immediately, but it still hurt like hell.
Rosary’s arm also broke upon impact, but I partially healed it. It all happened so fast that I hope she didn’t notice, I left her arm with a few fractures unhealed, and I’ll pretend like my left arm and side are still damaged too.
"Hey, you okay?" I asked her with a grimace, as I got back on my feet.
"I’ve been better. But I suppose it could’ve been worse...thanks, I owe you," She replied, wincing as she moved her left arm, before standing up and staring ahead warily, as the air got colder, "Look sharp, Larrk...it’s coming this way."
