Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 177 - The Haven(Part 6)
"Come on, bro, you really lost? Even Prysm won her fight, you must be so embarrassed," I greeted Argent as he dragged his feet back towards us.
"Hey!" Frowned Prysm indignantly.
"Don’t go getting all smug just because that wouldn’t have worked on you," He grumbled at me.
"Hm? What do you mean by that?" Inquired Arofri curiously.
"I’m not just gonna reveal one of my trump cards like that...but you might find out soon, since I’m up next," I remarked with a shrug, before glancing around at the Demi-Human leaders.
Who should I fight? The Beastmen Demi-Humans can’t use Magic at all, except for Centaurs, but they’re averse to combat, so maybe not one of them. It’d probably be unfair to take on one of ones who’ve already fought...not only have I seen what they’re capable of, but they’re also all a bit worn out from their fights.
And I want a challenge...specifically, I want to pick whoever would give me the best test for my new abilities. Who would that be? Maybe Ulfar, the Dwarf representative?
No, Dwarves are strong but they’re also said to be relatively slow moving. Okay, then it’s settled. With Tania and Arofri having already fought, that just leaves one viable option for me to pick.
"I’d like to take you on, Oberr," I decided, turning to the Light Elf.
"Very well, that’s fine by me," He nodded in response.
We then stepped onto the arena and took our places, as I contemplated how to go about handling this while waiting for the barriers to form. Let’s assume he’s capable of using all his powers to their fullest...with Spellcasting, that’d be healing, barriers, and then Elemental Water and Wind.
Light Elves possess upto three Skills, two of which will be Skills that are unique to their species, and then one regular Skill. The same goes for Dark Elves as well. Both races have five or so Skills that are unique to their species, and each individual manifests two from those Skills.
Mana Control is probably the most powerful one...then there’s also Chlorokinesis, the ability to control and manipulate plants. The rest of the unique Skills to Light Elves are just speculation from the books I’ve read, and these two seem to be the most dangerous to go up against.
Well, the chances of him having those two specific Skills is pretty low, but let’s not get careless. And finally, there’s their transformation ability, in which they’re known as Luminous Elves.
Dark Elves also have a similar transformation power, as Arofri displayed against Argent...they’re known as Shadow Elves, and they can control shadows, giving them abilities similar to Shadow Bind and Shadow Walk, or my Shadow Phase Skill, which I’ve assumed works in a similar fashion to the Shadow Walk Skill.
Alright, no more time to brainstorm, the barriers are forming. I’ll make the first move and attack relentlessly, back him into a corner and-...
"Well, that’s not good," I sighed wryly, as he wasted no time in adding another barrier and I felt my Mana flow being blocked, "This is an Anti-Spell Field, isn’t it?"
"Yes, that’s right," He nodded before energy began gathering by his hand, taking the shape of a bow.
Pretty sure that’s Mana Control...the bodies of Light Elves don’t naturally generate and replenish their Mana, instead they absorb the natural energy in the surroundings and convert that to Mana inside their bodies.
The Light Elf-unique Skill Mana Control takes that to the next level...it allows them to gather natural energy and convert it to Mana outside of their bodies, and then control it as they please, shaping it into weapons or simply just firing it out as projectiles.
And since the Mana is being formed on the outside, it isn’t affected by the Anti-Spell Field, which only blocks Spellcasting...Skills and manifesting Soul Weapons require a small amount of Mana to activate, but it’s a pretty negligible amount, so those aren’t affected by the barrier either.
"Want some advice? If you form a high frequency, vibrating blade with that Mana, it’ll cut a lot better and more smoothly," I remarked with a wry smile, before activating Magic Eater as he fired out a rapidly swirling arrow at me. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
I swallowed it up before springing back and getting some distance, manifesting my whip and stiffening and extending it towards him. He evaded it before rapidly springing towards me, as he created chains out of Mana and sent them shooting towards me.
I inhaled sharply and fired out a sonic blast to blow away the chains before slicing up a chunk of earth from the floor with the dagger end of my whip. I pulled it up off the ground and kicked it towards him as he shot towards me.
He then changed the shape of his bow into a blade and swung it across, slicing the chunk of earth in half, picking up his pace as the two halves flew past him and broke apart as they crashed onto the ground.
"Oh, you were being honest...making the blade vibrate at a high frequency cuts a lot better than normal," He mused thoughtfully, as he closed in on me.
"Yeah...but that doesn’t make it strong enough to cut through a Soul Weapon," I smirked, as I blocked his slash with the dagger end of my whip, after sharply flicking my wrist to snap the whip end back this way.
He ducked as it closed in on him, narrowly evading it as I sprang back and unleashed a full-blooded downward swing of my whip straight at him. Suddenly, the Anti-Spell Field dissipated and he shot back with immense speed as a powerful gust of wind burst out from his feet.
"I see that you’re quite capable even without Spellcasting. You wield your weapon impressively," He remarked warily.
"Oh? And how’d you figure that I’m good with Spellcasting?" I inquired with a raised eyebrow.
"I can sense a substantial amount of Mana in you...considering how quickly humans age, you’re likely quite young, such an capacity of Mana at such a young age made it obvious," He informed me.
"Yeah, I guess nineteen is pretty young, especially when compared to the superior lifespans of the Demi-Human races. Alright, as thanks for taking down your barrier...I’ll show you some Spells I’m pretty sure you’ve never seen before," I smirked, as I held up my hand and formed a ball of blue flames.
"Impossible...," He muttered as his eyes widened in disbelief.
"If you say so. But I’d try to dodge this if I were you," I grinned as I took aim...Elemental Flame: Mega Dragon Fire Blast!
I fired out the blast of flames with immense momentum, and too wide for him to evade as it closed on him rapidly. The flames burst ablaze and roared as the blast reached him, a pale, bright blue hue illuminating the area.
I don’t see him outside the barrier...did he survive that somehow? Or, uh, did it turn him to ash before the safety function could kick in? Doubtful, Izzy used blue flames to finish up her battle and it worked.
"That...was way too close!" Gasped Oberr, as the flames abruptly vanished.
Hm? There’s something in front of him, but it’s turned to ash and crumbling already, so I can’t tell what it is. He blocked the flames with whatever that was, and then must have gotten rid of the flames by activating his Anti-Spell Field again.
"What’s the matter? You only activated that barrier for an instant," I remarked curiously.
"Yes, well...I doubt I can defeat you if I deprive myself of my Spells," He replied with a wry smile, before suddenly flinging out a bunch of small grains.
Are those...seeds? My eyes widened in alarm as they rapidly sprouted and grew, branches and vines growing out at an incredible speed and shooting towards me...crap, he’s got Chlorokinesis too!? That must be what he used to block my blue flames too.
I quickly sunk down into the shadows before the rapidly growing plants could reach me, moving through to beneath his own shadow...those seeds grew so fast that it obscured him from my vision, which means that he’d have lost sight of me too.
But it looks like he’s noticed that I’m not there, he began charging up a wind Spell but now has a confused look on his face. Oh, I see, he was planning on restraining me with those plants before finishing me off with a blast of wind.
I could use my Black Hole Spell...but if enough of him gets sucked into it by the time the barrier teleport him out, he could still die from the blood loss. Better not risk it...but I can still use the Spell if I’m a bit more careful with it.
I then formed a small black hole a few meters in front of him, and as he got pulled forward and off balance, I quickly dissipated it before extending my whip out of his shadow towards his heart from behind.
As the tip of my whip began to pierce into his skin, he sprang off to his left with a lightning fast reaction, letting out a gasp of pain as my whip pierced into the middle of his chest, slicing his ribs and lungs as it burst out through the right side of his chest, cutting across and slashing off his right arm.
He stumbled away as blood gushed out, healing himself with a pained grimace as he coughed out blood, struggling to breathe. I then emerged from the shadows, there are plenty of trees overhead, so plenty of shadows to pick besides his own.
"Word of advice, heal your lungs first, or you might pass out before you finish regenerating," I informed him, as his arm grew back.
So inefficient, it’d be much faster to reattach the severed arm than to grow a new one. I’m guessing he isn’t used to healing himself, at least not severe injuries.
"You’re really strong...but it doesn’t make sense. Your Skills, they don’t add up," He frowned in bewilderment, "I believe I’ve correctly identified Magic Eater and Shadow Walk. Then there was than sonic blast, those webs you showed earlier, not to mention the poison. That should be five...but there was also that sphere with the strong, pulling force."
"I’ll give you a hint. After you took down your Anti-Spell Field, I haven’t used any of my Skills," I smirked in response.
"What? But, then-...I think I’ll have a lot of questions for you after this is over. But for now...I’ll focus on ensuring that I win," He replied, as a bright light burst out from him with a powerful shockwave, as I quickly planted my feet down firmly to keep my balance.
He’s triggering his Luminous Elf form, huh? Alright, then...looks like things are being turned up a notch, this should be fun...
