Chapter 178: Chapter 178 - The Haven(Part 7)

"You should give up now, you put up a good fight but it’s over," Remarked Oberr, as my vision suddenly went dark.

When Light Elves transform into their more powerful Luminous Elf forms, they’re able to control the light around their surroundings at will, this must be it...he’s taken away the light that would’ve met my eyes, effectively blinding me.

I quickly sunk into the shadows in response, letting out a sigh of relief as my vision returned. He’s got no control down here, so I’m not affected while I’m in the shadows...but that said, he’ll probably take away my sight if I emerge up there again.

Hm? Oh, I can’t see through the shadows...he must have halted the flow of light around the floor of the arena, not bad, he’s pretty sharp. Well, I guess I could still fire out attacks through the shadows, I can kinda tell where the openings are, though I will be shooting blind since I’m not sure which opening is his shadow.

Alright, then, I’ll take on this challenge...sure, I’m pretty severely compromised without my sight, but that doesn’t mean I’m completely helpless. I then shot up towards the nearest opening and emerged out of the shadows, unleashing a burst of blue flames all around me as I emerged.

I then felt a gust of wind blowing out, planting my feet firmly to keep my balance. I’ve maxed out Super Hearing to the extent I can control, I know where he is...oh, sounds like he’s flying up.

I leapt back as I surmised that he’d shot an arrow towards me based on the sounds of his movements, along with the sound of something slicing through the air towards me, before I countered with a bolt of lightning in his direction.

I think he dodged that, this is tricky...my reaction time is definitely slowed without the use of my sight, and he’s way faster than I am with his transformation.

I grimaced as I heard him swooping down towards me, cracking my whip up and across in that direction, before unleashing a burst of wind from my mouth while simultaneously excreting poison from my fangs, shooting out a poison mist.

He quickly countered using a more powerful wind blast, before I heard him zipping towards me rapidly. He’s already closing in, I can’t tell where he’s going to strike...I focused on protecting my vitals, raising the handle of my whip over my chest and neck, stifling a hiss of pain as I felt a deep cut across my stomach.

I slashed at him with the dagger end of my whip handle, but he’d already shot past me. I began healing myself as I heard him barreling in towards me from behind, spinning around and springing back as he closed in, bursting out streaks of lightning.

But since I was already using my regeneration Spell, I couldn’t fully focus on the lightning Spell, so it wasn’t as strong or fast as I’d like. But I managed to narrow down where he was going to strike, blocking at the last minute by raising the dagger end of my whip handle.

But I was only able to partially block it, grimacing as he slashed across my right shoulder. Suddenly, I heard something bursting out, rapidly wrapping around me and restraining me...this feels like wood, must be his Chlorokinesis.

As I felt a sharp projectile hitting the middle of my chest, I unleashed flames all around me, burning the wood restraining me and reducing it to ash, but also burning my skin in the process...ow, good thing I didn’t use blue flames.

I then felt a beam piercing through my left shoulder, too fast to react to...that attack, and the one he hit the middle of my chest with, those weren’t Mana attacks. He’s probably shooting projectiles of concentrated light at me, that’d explain the speed of his attacks.

I can’t stay still, I’m just a sitting duck if I don’t stay on the move...I raced across the arena, making sure to stay clear of being directly in line with him. But he was chasing after me, and he’s way faster than I am.

I then halted and raised my dagger as he closed in on me, letting out a sharp gasp as I lost a couple of fingers as he slashed at my hand, just barely maintaining my grip over the handle.

He was already shooting past me, before turning around and zipping in towards me from behind. At the last second, I spun around, a sharp pain bursting through the right side of my chest as he pierced me with a blade of light...right before I grabbed his wrist before he could pull the blade out of me.

"I finally got a sense for your speed and timing," I smirked, as I fired out sticky threads from my other hand and wrapping around his body, sticking his arms to his sides.

"This won’t hold me for long!" He exclaimed, as he flew back, the threads starting to snap.

I’ve got a single thread connected to the threads wrapped around him, it’s over.

"It doesn’t need to...I’ve already won," I remarked with a smile, as I burst out blue flames through the thread, which rapidly spread across the thread and began to engulf Oberr, before he got teleported out, light finally returning to my eyes and restoring my sight.

Aw man, my outfit took a lot of damage in that fight. I’ve already healed all the injuries I sustained, but I can’t exactly mend my clothes with Magic.

"That was impressive considering that you were blinded...it’s been a while since I last fought you, I kinda want to now," Grinned Izzy with a look of excitement in her eyes.

"Uh, maybe later, okay?" I replied sheepishly.

"Are you okay? You took a lot of damage during that fight," Frowned Argent with a look of concern.

"No worries, I’m good," I responded with a thumbs up.

"It’s really amazing that you were able to win without the use of sight, I think I might’ve struggled against him even if I could see," Remarked Prysm with a frown.

"Alright, my friends won three of the four matches, so will you agree to let them stay here?" Rosary turned to the Elders expectantly.

"Yes, we’ll keep our word. The four of you can stay here for a maximum of thirty-seven days," Nodded Oberr in response.

"I suppose we have to, they did undoubtedly impress in these duels. And a supply of this one’s metal, thread and poison will be quite beneficial to us as well," Admitted Tania grudgingly, glancing at me.

"About that, I can produce as much metal as I want so long as I have Mana, but with the sticky threads and poison, they’re physical abilities not Magical, so how much I can produce is more limited," I informed them.

"Hm? How is that possible? Humans don’t have such physical abilities," Frowned Arofri suspiciously.

"Well, you’re not wrong. Guess there’s no harm in telling you, I gained these by eating specific Monsters," I explained with a shrug.

"Fascinating, I wasn’t aware that doing so could manifest new physical abilities. I’d like to examine your body sometime, if that’s okay with you," Mused Tania with a look of intrigue.

"Well, so long as that doesn’t mean cutting me open or whatever, I guess it’s fine."

"Anyway, now that the whole matter is settled and all, I should get going," Remarked Rosary, a weary look of relief on her face.

"You’re welcome to stay with your friends if you like, we all already trust you, after all," Responded Howll, some of the others nodding in agreement.

"No, I wouldn’t want to put you guys out. And besides, I’ll come visit to check up on them, if that’s okay," She replied with a smile.

"Of course, bring your brother too, it’s been ages since we last saw him," Chimed in Oberr.

Guess Rosary and Rayven really earned the trust of the Demi-Humans...I feel like they’ve got some misconceptions about humans though. They don’t seem to understand that people can change drastically...well, to be fair, they’re right to trust the two of them, they remain open-minded when it comes to the common prejudices of this world.

They are doing us quite the solid by letting us stay here for a month, maybe I’ll educate them on what humans are really like and stuff.

"Alright, you four, I’ll see you later...hope you’re able to relax while you’re down here, it’ll be good to spend some time without worrying about everything that’s going on up there," Remarked Rosary, as she approached us.

"Yeah, that sounds good to me, I could use a break," Nodded Argent in agreement.

"I’m just glad to have a month where I won’t have to go inside the Pocket Dimension," Smiled Prysm wryly.

"Well, I’d like to stay updated on the situation, but at least we won’t have to worry about the Knights and the True Nobility," I sighed wistfully.

I’d prefer to stay out of that whole mess, I have no interest in fighting the True Nobility. Ideally, the Knights will be able to take care of those psychos themselves, but I’d still love to know what’s going on. Maybe I can call or message Gior to help with that...
