Chapter 180: Chapter 180 - The Haven(Part 9)

"Hahaha, this is amazing! Everything’s spinning and swirly!" Laughed Howll, as he did another hit off the bong.

I can say with the utmost of confidence that this is the highest and most drunk I’ve ever been in my life-...no, lives!

"Man, I wish I could use Enchantment Magic, it’s so not fair that only you Fairies can use it," I sighed wistfully, as I glanced at Tania.

"Hm, maybe you can," Chimed in Arofri, who’d been the most wary of us among the Elders, but seems to have warmed up thanks to the booze and weed, as he then suggested jokingly, "You got new abilities from eating Monsters, right? Maybe if you eat Fairies..."

"I don’t like the direction this conservation is headed," Frowned Tania warily.

"Don’t you mean comversation? No, wait...conversation. Words are weird sometimes, like you know it’s right but it sounds wrong," Chimed in Prysm, rocking back in a chair before almost falling, "Woah! It’s like the whole world just tilted..."

Since this world considers fifteen to be the age at which you’re an adult, she’s been drinking and smoking up too. I still feel a bit weird about it, so I haven’t given her many opportunities to try drinking or smoking after she turned fifteen, while trying not to be too obvious about it.

But this is a party, and if no one else is gonna make a fuss about it, I might as well keep my mouth shut too and avoid being a wet blanket. And besides, I’m too drunk and high to care right now.

After Tania enchanted the weed and alcohol to be stronger, I’ve only had one drink and a couple of bong hits, but I’m completely gone.

"Hey, where’s the nearest bathroom?" I asked Oberr, as I felt a slight tingling down there.

"There’s one in every building, you can use the one in the hall," He replied, pointing at the building where we’d met the Elders.

"Got it, thanks."

I’m kinda dreading this, if I’m being honest...I doubt they have proper plumbing or anything like that. But it’s gotta be done, I’m gonna be here for a month, which is a good week longer than the months in my previous world, so I might as well get used to it as soon as possible.

Damn, I’m really struggling to walk straight, my shoulder just crashed onto a tree...I then briefly released my Universal Resistance just for an instant, sobering myself up a bit.

Hm, now that I think about it, shouldn’t it technically be called Universal Immunity? I don’t remember seeing any Skills with the word ’immunity’ in them during my reincarnation...and as I’ve made clear several times, I don’t forget things as easily as most people do.

I don’t forget at all. Well, whatever, doesn’t really matter what it’s called, it works great and that’s all that really matters. Ah, there we go, I see the building.

As I headed into the building and found the bathroom, opening the door hesitantly and...I was pleasantly surprised. It looks like a proper toilet, though it’s made of wood.

It’s got a flusher too...I pressed down on it, and sure enough, water swirled into the bowl. Ohh, I see, they must have replicated human toilets by using Enchantments to fill in the gaps they didn’t know how to with plumbing.

Sweet, this works out great. I got done with my business, a lot more comfortably than I’d anticipated, before heading back out.

As I walked out the building and began making my way back to the feast, I bumped into someone, grabbing their wrist to keep them from falling as I almost knocked them over.

"Sorry about that, you okay?" I inquired, letting go of their hand.

Oh, it’s one of the Elders, the Felinian representative, Sinia.

"Yes, I’m alright. No need to apologize, I wasn’t looking where I was going either," She responded, taking a step back.

Felinians are a race of Demi-Humans with cat ears and tails of various colors and patterns. Sinia has a tiger-like pattern, her cat ears and tail having red and black stripes.

The same goes for her hair as well, which was long and straight, going down to her waist from behind. She had sharp yellow eyes and sharp fangs, and looked like she was in her mid-twenties, if going by human standards.

Felinians have lifespans of about two hundred and fifty years or so, and age about two and a half times slower than humans do, so she’s probably somewhere in her mid-sixties.

On another note, she seems pretty apprehensive towards me. She’s being polite and all, but it’s clear that she isn’t too happy about this. Guess it’s gonna be harder to win everyone over than I thought, but I might as well try to get on the good sides of as many of them as I can.

"Tell me, honestly, how do you feel about this arrangement, having humans staying here for the next month?" I asked her, deciding to be frank, as we began heading back towards the party. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Well...if you really want me to be honest, then I’ll speak my mind. To be frank, I’m not thrilled about it...my parents and siblings were killed by humans, after all," She responded, her tone a touch icy.

Let’s play the sympathy card here...

"I’m sorry to hear that. My mother was killed by other humans too...and my father was captured and tortured brutally, he’s in a coma now and may never wake up. The reason my friends and I are here is to get away from humans that are after us," I replied, letting my voice crack a couple of times.

"Yes, I’ve never understood how humans can be so cruel to their own kind, literally going so far as the split the world in half between two sides in which the only difference in their Attribute," She shook her head with a look of disgust.

"Yeah, I agree, it’s a big reason why they’re after me...I was enslaved and tortured as a kid, but I managed to escape, and killed my captors on the way out. That, and the fact that I have both Attributes, is why I’m considered one of the most wanted criminals in the country," I remarked with a wry smile.

That’s probably not an exaggeration, and the same likely goes for Argent and Izzy as well. The only reason Prysm isn’t being hunted down is because I’ve concealed her existence entirely in the towns I’ve been to.

"What are you trying to say, exactly?" She frowned, narrowing her eyes at me as she stopped walking.

"All I’m asking is to just keep an open mind. In the grand scheme of things, a month isn’t all that long, and what would be the point in us being hostile to each other? And making up your mind about us when you barely even know us yet, well...wouldn’t that make you no better than the humans you despise so much?" I pointed out objectively.

"Hm...well, I suppose you have a point there. Alright, I get what you’re saying...but that doesn’t mean I plan to blindly trust any of you," She replied after a brief pause.

"Of course, not, that’d be stupid. I’m grateful to all of you for letting us stay here, but that doesn’t mean I trust you guys. That said, I am stronger than you, so I’m not too worried even if you do decide to try and kill us or whatever," I smirked playfully.

"Oh? That’s awfully arrogant of you...maybe I’ll take the time to put you in your place one of these days," She responded with a wry smile.

"I’ll take that as a challenge, one I’m sure to come out on top of," I declared confidently.

"In that case, I can’t wait to see the look on your face when I prove that notion wrong," She countered tauntingly.

"I’d like to see you try."

"Oh, there you are, Shinia!" Suddenly came a slurring voice, as Alsa, the Kanine leader stumbled into sight, as we got back to the feast.

Kanines are basically the dog version of Felinians, and humans consider them to be the weaker version of Werewolves. I doubt it’s that simple though...for starters, while they may be similar to Werewolves, they’re still very much a different species.

Alsa had brown floppy ears and a long tail, reminds me of a great dane. She had short brown, fluffy hair that framed her face and dark brown eyes, and right now, was clearly wasted, barely standing straight.

"She should probably sit down and maybe drink some water," I remarked in bemusement, as she stepped forward and then proceeded to fall flat onto her face.

"Noooo, I’m fine! See? Steady as a...thing that’s steady and stuff," She slurred, as she shakily got back up on her feet with a bleeding nose.

"Don’t worry about her, she’ll keep drinking till she eventually passes out and then wake up the next morning tremendously hungover," Sighed Sinia in exasperation.

"Uh, you sure?" I responded as I stared as Alsa collapsing onto a bush, before shrugging as Sinia ignored her and headed back to the party, "Well, if you say so, I guess..."
