Chapter 321: Chapter 321 - Arcadia Championship Clash(Part 11)

"It’s time for the thirteenth match of round one, just three more matches to go today after this one. It’s the Plasma Dragon King Frielektra vs the Kanine Elder Alsa."

"I hope you’re strong enough to make this worth my time, I certainly don’t expect you to come anywhere close to defeating me, but I hope you at least put up a decent fight," I said to my opponent as I stepped onto the arena.

"Well, if I were you, I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high. I don’t think I’m particularly weak, but I’m certainly nowhere near the level of one of the strongest beings in the world," She replied with a wry smile.

Hm, despite her words, she has a look of determination in her eyes. She likely doesn’t expect to defeat me, but she seems intent on putting up a good fight, at least, just as I’m hoping for. Good, I like that, certainly more than I would with baseless confidence.

"Okay, here’s the countdown...ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero."

I felt a burst of power from my opponent the instant the countdown ended, her body changing in form...hm, alright, I’ll wait for her to finish transforming, it’s the least I can do, considering the overwhelming advantage I have.

Dark brown fur sprouted all over her body, her nose and mouth extending forward into a dog-like snout, before she bared her fangs as she got low and shot towards me, driving her claws towards my throat as she closed in on me.

I swiftly reached out and grabbed her wrist before her claws could reach me, sharply tightening my grip as she whipped her right foot up and across at my head, before yanking her off her feet and flinging her away as she let out a yelp.

While I do intend to hold back, I won’t be careless like Satan was, he made quite a fool of himself despite winning his fight, and that’s certainly something that I would prefer to avoid.

I then turned towards her as she jammed her claws into the floor of the arena to halt herself before she could crash onto the barrier wall, before I unleashed a blazing wave of flames towards her.

She began to raise her hand, before she suddenly paused and quickly zipped away right in the nick of time, just barely avoiding my flames and racing across the arena...hm, not bad, she’s quite quick on her feet.

As she shot across the space, I unleashed a barrage of swirling fireballs at her, she ducked and weaved across as my flames closed in on her, narrowly avoiding them, a few of my fireballs grazing her and singing her fur, but I was unable to land a direct hit.

A graze would be adequate if I were to use my Dragon Fire, but that would be excessive when I’m at a level so much higher than my opponent, so I’m simply using normal flames in my attacks.

She’s doing well to evade my attacks, she’s keeping her distance in order to enable herself to do so without being hit, but doing nothing but dodging won’t get her anywhere.

Of course, trying to close the distance would be a foolish move, she would have a more difficult time evading my fireballs, and my physical speed and strength are superior to hers.

I have no interest in a battle of attrition...if she does not have any other moves in her arsenal besides evasion, then I might as well just bring this fight to an end, she’s reasonably skilled but this is disappointing, I was really hoping for more of a challenge than this.

I then spread out my wings and shot towards her, deciding to close the gap myself, her eyes widening as I began to close in on her, before I clenched my right fist and drove it towards her.

She swiftly sprang back, her mouth moving rapidly and inaudibly, right before a barrier formed between us. Hmph, a simple Barrier Skill cannot stop me, I can easily break through and-...my eyes widened in surprise as a sharp burst of pain erupted across my right arm the instant my fist slammed onto the barrier, sprays of blood bursting through the scales on my forearm.

What just...? Did she...reflect my attack?

I see...I put all my strength into that strike, to make sure it would be fast enough to prevent her from evading, and strong enough to teleport her out, and all that force and momentum I’d exerted backfired, quite literally.

A barrier that can reflect attacks, if she had a Skill like that in her arsenal, why didn’t she use it bef-...the realization then hit me, as I recalled how she’d paused for a moment before evading my initial fireball.

Ah, she knew that it would be pointless to reflect my flames back at me, fire has no effect on me, after all. So, instead, she resorted to evasion, hoping to force me to move in and try to finish her off physically. My, I must say, I’m quite impressed...

It seems the bones in my forearm are quite severely fractured, it has been centuries since I’ve suffered an injury anywhere close to this level of severity.

Very well, then...I’d planned on not using my Dragon Fire against her, but after that last move, along with the way she set me up for it, I believe she’s earned the honor of being defeated by my most powerful weapon.

I then unleashed a massive wave of blazing, pale blue flames from my mouth, a look of alarm appearing on her face as the flames barreled towards her rapidly, before she quickly formed another barrier in front of herself, the flames shooting back towards me as they collided against the barrier.

I let the flames wash over me, while continuing to spew more flames out of my mouth...I may not be able to hit her directly, but my flames will spread and spread until they fill the entire space within the barrier...

Sure enough, before much longer, my opponent got teleported out of the arena, her body soaked in sweat from head to toe as she collapsed onto her hands and knees with a dazed look on her face.

I then ceased spewing my flames, letting out a slow exhaling before opening my jaws wide and pulling all the flames blazing across the arena back into me, extinguishing them as I reabsorbed the flames.

The arena was glowing a fiery orange, the entire floor having been melted down by my flames...

"And the winner is the Plasma Dragon King Frielektra, that’s match thirteen done."

Point-of-View: Lumena Lucidus

I stretched my arms up as I entered the arena, tuning out Mysst’s half-assed commentary. I drank way too much last night, I’ve got a really bad hangover. Yeah, I need to end this match ASAP, I don’t have the energy to get into a long, drawn-out fight here, my head is killing me.

Hm? Oh, she’s already started the countdown, I need to switch on...

"...three, two, one, zero."

"Manifest Soul Weapon: Bong of Smoke," I chanted as my opponent, a Felinian, shot towards me, before chanting again as she began to close in on me, "Soul Weapon Ascension: Queen of the Clouds."

As I unleashed my Soul Weapon Ascension, I swiftly dropped down into my shadow as my opponent closed in and drove her claws towards me, a look of surprise appearing on her face as I disappeared from her line of sight, before I emerged from her shadow behind her, turning my right arm to smoke and sending it flowing into her mouth and nostrils.

She let out a sharp cough and began to spin around, before I shifted my arm from smoke back to its normal physical state, my opponent vanishing from sight as my arm solidified, before it could burst her head open from the inside.

"Oh, that was fast. Okay, that’s match number fourteen done, the winner is Lumena Lucidus."

Nice, it worked, it would’ve been a pain if she’d managed to react fast enough and avoid that attack...now I don’t need to exert myself any further. My opponent looks really frustrated, guess anyone would feel bad after being defeated so quickly. Oh, well, whatever, I don’t really care.

Alright, now that that’s over with, I’m gonna go take a nap to sleep this hangover off...and I should definitely avoid drinking tonight, especially considering the fact that I’ll be fighting the Plasma Dragon King in round two tomorrow...
