Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 322 - Arcadia Championship Clash(Part 12)
Point-of-View: Lucifer
———————————————————————————
"I hear you Dark Elves are supposed to be quite powerful, and you’re currently the strongest of your kind, aren’t you? I expect a good challenge, so try not to disappoint me," I remarked with a smirk.
"Be careful what you wish for...I think you might find that I’m harder to deal with that you’re imagining," He replied, before putting his guard up as the countdown began.
Well, that’s encouraging...I certainly hope he can back up that confidence, anything less would be a let down.
"Okay, here’s the countdown. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero."
A burst of energy erupted from him as a shroud of dark energy enveloped his body, before he suddenly sunk into the shadows rapidly...hm, is that the same ability that Larrk uses?
No, it’s different, I believe this form is called Shadow Elf, I suppose that means that he has the ability to manipulate shadows. Interesting, that is a tricky ability to go up against, this should be fun.
I then swiftly flew up as he emerged from my shadow behind me, unleashing an intense burst of lightning towards me, which I evaded by swerving across the air, the lightning shooting past the top of my right shoulder before I fired a beam of Negative Energy down at him.
He zipped across to evade it, my projectile hitting the floor of the arena and piercing through the tiles...hm, he’s pretty fast, not bad. And the Lightning Spell was fairly powerful, it would have done some fairly significant damage if it had hit me.
It seems he isn’t going back into the shadows again...is it because he can’t ambush me using that ability while I’m in the air? But then, why is he not using it defensively? My attacks can’t reach him if he’s in the shadows...Larrk is able to stay in the shadows indefinitely, are Dark Elves unable to do that?
If that’s the case, then I guess he’s not as much of a threat as I’d hoped, that’s too b-...suddenly, I felt a sharp pain across the top of my head and my upper back as he fired a dark projectile at the floor of the arena...no, at my shadow.
I then quickly shot across the air as he fired another dark, shadowy projectile at my shadow, moving my shadow out of the way of his attack just in time, before veering across as he unleashed a wide blast of flames up at me, narrowly evading it before zagging away as he fired another shadowy projectile at my shadow.
I picked up my speed as he then fired out a rapid, intense bolt of lightning at me while shooting out a shadowy arrow at my shadow. I grimaced as I felt a slight twinge of pain across the side of my right arm, a trickle of blood running down as a small cut appeared across that spot.
Not bad, he’s attacking my shadow with those dark projectiles while simultaneously firing Spells at me directly, evading one of those attacks is not a problem, but evading both at the same time is tricky...he’s anticipating the direction I’d take while evading one of his attacks and then launches his second attack at the projected trajectory.
And he’s anticipating my movements with impressive accuracy.
Another cut then appeared on my left calf as I evaded a plasma arrow that he fired up at me, but failed to fully evade a shadowy arrow he fired at my shadow...the more he attacks, the better he’s adapting to my speed and movements, this cut is deeper than the one he inflicted earlier, his accuracy is steadily improving with every attack.
Okay, then, time for me to get serious.
As he unleashed another pair of attacks at me, his eyes widened in surprise as I rapidly swooped down towards him, a bolt of flames grazing the top of my left shoulder before he began to sink into his shadow as I raised my hand towards him...he then suddenly collapsed onto his knees as I unleashed my Gravity Field ability, creating a dome-shaped field of gravity ten times stronger than usual across the entire arena, before I fired out a burst of telekinesis at him.
He quickly dropped down into his shadow, my attack hitting the top of his head as he was a fraction of a second too slow in his retreat, before I landed on the arena and looked around.
The only shadow within the arena is my shadow, so I know exactly where he’ll emerged from, the only question is when-...my train of thought was cut off as he suddenly sprung out of my shadow, blood matting his hair and running down his face as he drove an intense, crackling mass of lightning in his right hand towards my back.
Before his hand could reach me, I swiftly grabbed his wrist with my tail, halting his arm before my body suddenly froze up as he fully emerged out of my shadow...I can’t move. Ah, I see, he must have the ability to paralyze an opponent by stepping on their shadow.
I can’t move a muscle, my body is completely frozen. However...
As he strained against my Gravity Field and wrenched his arm free from the grasp of my tail and began to drive the charged up lightning towards me again, I unleashed an intense telekinetic shockwave, blasting him away as he let out a sharp yell, hurtling through the air before his back slammed onto the wall of the barrier, a gasp echoing out as a dazed look appeared on his face, before he collapsed onto his hands and knees, struggling to get back onto his feet.
I then spread out my wings and zipped towards him rapidly, extending out my claws and slashing at his head as I closed in, before he quickly dropped down into his shadow, my claws severing a few strands of his hair as he just barely evaded my strike.
I halted and turned around so that my shadow was in front of me, before he shot out of my shadow after a few seconds...hm, it looks like he can only stay in the shadows for about ten seconds, otherwise he surely would have stayed down there longer to try and buy a bit of time to recover and regain his bearings.
As he emerged, I unleashed another telekinetic shockwave, blowing him away before he could attack, before I formed a telekinetic wall behind him, his back slamming against it with a thudding, jarring impact before I raised my arm and pulled him towards me using my telekinesis, the shadowy shroud around his body fading away as he closed in on me, before I grabbed him by the throat with my left hand as he got within my reach.
"That was fun, you’re not too bad. But this is as far as you go, this fight is over," I remarked, as I whipped my right index finger across and fired out a small but intense slashing telekinetic wave towards his eyes, triggering the barrier as he got teleported out before my attack could slice the top of his head off.
I exhaled slowly as I deactivated my Gravity Field and stretched my arms up, the barrier around the arena disappearing as my opponent reappeared outside the arena.
"That’s the fifteenth match of round one done, and the winner is the Demon Lucifer."
Hm, just one more match left in this first round, it’s Vorph’s turn in the final match, and I believe her opponent is also one of these Demi-Human Elders, the Felinian one. If she wins, she’ll be my next opponent, that should give me quite the challenge.
Of course, it’s not impossible that she would lose, but it’s extremely unlikely...she isn’t the type to get careless, especially after seeing how each of us other Demons were pushed further than expected by our opponents.
And knowing what she’s like when she’s in a fight, it should make for a good final match of the day, and end round one with a bang...
