Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 335 - Quarter-Finals(Part 2)
Point-of-View: Ilex Sarralot
———————————————————————————
"Alright, folks, it’s time for the second quarter-final match! It’s Ilex Sarralot vs the Demon Aratron!" Exclaimed Phyurio, as my opponent and I stepped onto the arena.
"Just great...you’re pretty strong for a human, so I’ll need to put in some effort here," Sighed my opponent wearily.
This is a good opportunity, I can test out just how strong I am...he’s undoubtedly stronger than I am, I’ll do my best to put up a good fight, but realistically, it’s unlikely that I’ll beat him.
His Devour and Drain abilities are dangerous, clouds of energy in the shape of jaws, the formed inflicts physical damage by chomping out chunks of his opponents, and the latter consumes Mana, it works similarly to the Magic Eater Skill.
A long, drawn-out fight would be to my disadvantage, in which case, I’ll have to go all out right from the start and push him as hard as I can...
"Let’s kick off the countdown! Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four! THREE! TWO! ONE!!! ZEROOOOO!!!"
"Manifest Soul Weapon: Mana Armament. And now, Soul Weapon Ascension: Level 5 - Arsenal!" I chanted rapidly, a burst of energy erupting from me as I unleashed my full power.
As the armor of my Soul Weapon Ascension formed around my body, I swiftly unleashed a massive beam of Mana from my chest, as Aratron extended out his Drain and Devour jaws, before swallowing up the large, drilling beam of Mana with Drain.
I then flew up and unleashed a barrage of Mana projectiles at him, he expanded his Drain jaws, swallowing up most of my attacks, but the jaws weren’t wide enough to cover his entire body, a few of my projectiles hitting his legs.
He quickly flew up as I continued firing at him, before I took aim at him with the three tail-like tendrils from my lower back and unleashed several piercing beams at him.
He zipped across the air to evade them, ducking and weaving around before firing off Negative Energy blasts at me, canceling out some of my Mana attacks.
I swerved across the air to evade his attacks, keeping my distance...his Devour ability is dangerous, but it’s a mid-range attack, he can’t extend it out over a long range.
My armor protects me from most attacks, but those jaws are more like smoke, so they can probably slip through the gaps and attack my body. So I should avoid getting too close to him, I’ll try to overwhelm him with a ceaseless barrage of attacks.
That’s easier said that done though, he’s so fast...he’s evading most of my attacks, swallowing some up with Drain and canceling out the rest with Negative Energy attacks.
He’s getting used to it, the timing and rhythm of my attacks, his evasion is getting sharper and sharper, and he’s gradually starting to close the gap...that’s exactly what I want.
So far, I’ve only been firing at him with my tail-like appendages and the cannon in the middle of my chest...I haven’t used my Mana Amplifiers yet. I’ve been charging them up this whole time, with the dials turned up to the x5 multiplier setting.
He kept steadily closing the gap between us bit by bit, moving at an incredible speed with unreal agility in the air, none of my attacks even grazing him anymore, as he evaded some of them and swallowed up the rest with Drain.
That’s it, keep getting closer, just a little bit more, almost there, aaand...now!
As he got within five meters of me, I swiftly raised my arms and aimed my Mana Amplifiers at him, his eyes widening as I pulled the triggers, massive, wide blasts of Mana erupting out of my weapons and barreling towards him with immense force.
The blasts engulfed him and shot forward as the entire stadium was bathed in a blue light, the blasts slamming onto the barrier wall ahead of me with immense force, violent ripples erupting across the barrier as the stadium shook and rumbled from the force of my blasts.
Hm? I don’t see him anywhere outside the arena...
I then turned my gaze forward as my Mana blasts petered out and faded away, to reveal Aratron still in the barrier, plumes of smoke wafting around his body as he breathed raggedy, his body trembling in pain.
His limbs were badly damaged but the rest of his body is mostly unscathed, he must have protected his head and torso with Drain. Still, the parts that were hit are severely damaged, and the regeneration ability of Demons use their stamina, so he should at least be somewhat worn out.
I then formed Mana blades out of my Amplifiers and shot forward, he grimaced and raised his Devour jaws in front of himself, before his eyes widened slightly as I unleashed an intense burst of Mana from my feet to boost my speed, zipping past his Devour jaws and swinging one of my blades at the middle of his torso.
He quickly flew across, a stifled cry of pain ringing out as I sliced through his right elbow and severed his forearm, before spinning around as I shot past him and raising my other Mana blade, before rapidly extending it towards him.
He reacted with lightning speed, zipping across to evade my blade, grimacing as my Mana blade grazed his side, before he shot towards me and extended out his claws.
I swooped down as he snapped at my head with Devour, before he chased after me and slashed at my face with his claws, the tips grazing my forehead and drawing out trickles of blood...unlike Rosary’s armor-type Soul Weapon Ascension, mine doesn’t cover my head, so there is a very obvious weak point.
But keeping my distance isn’t going to work now that he’s used to the speed of my attacks...I know I started this fight thinking that I don’t stand much of a chance of winning, but now, especially after my amplified Mana blasts, I’m going to go for the win.
I extended and slashed one of my Mana blades up and across at him, before extending the other one straight at his chest as he narrowly avoided my slash, my second blade grazing the side of his left shoulder before he zipped down and slammed his feet onto the middle of my armor, the force of his kick exceeding the amount of force my armor could absorb and hitting my stomach, eliciting a sharp gasp from me as he then swiftly wrapped his tail around my ankle to keep me from plummeting down, a twinge of pain erupting across my knee from the backlash, before I coughed out blood as he slammed another powerful strike onto the middle of my armor with his feet.
My vision blurred as my stomach throbbed in pain, before he sent his Devour jaws shooting down towards my head to finish me off.
I gritted my teeth as the jaws closed in on my head, before firing off an intense burst of Mana from my chest cannon, while simultaneously unleashing a jet burst of Mana from the sole of my foot, which hit his tail and loosened his grip around my ankle, before he quickly shifted his Devour jaws to swallow up the blast from my chest cannon, as I wrenched free of the grasp of his tail and began to fly away, before a rapid Negative Energy blast came shooting down towards me, hitting the same spot he’d kicked.
It didn’t pack as much of a punch as his kicks did, but it was still strong enough to exceed my armor’s force absorption, and since he’d already damaged that area with his kicks, it still hurt like hell.
My back slammed onto the ground as I plummeted, my armor fading as I let out a dazed groan, trickles of blood running down from the corners of my mouth as Aratron came rapidly swooping down towards me to finish me off.
As he closed in on me, he sent his Devour jaws shooting down towards my chest, the jaws widening as my body got within their reach, before his eyes widened as I raised my arms as the jaws began to snap.
My Soul Weapon Ascension wasn’t undone...I just made it seem like it was. What I actually did was take it down a notch to Level 4...Double Amplifier.
I then gritted my teeth and pulled the triggers, his Devour jaws starting to sink into my skin as massive beams of Mana erupted out of my Amplifiers, the jaws suddenly disappearing as my Mana blasts engulfed him, right before I spotted him outside the arena in my peripheral.
W-wait, did I...did I just win? No way...I did it. I...I actually won.
I quietly and shakily got back onto my feet, struggling to process what had just happened, as I felt a strange feeling welling up inside me, before surging...
"YEAHHHHHH!!!!" I yelled out triumphantly before I even realized what I was doing, pumping my right fist up into the air as an euphoric sense of triumph and accomplishment hit me, a wide grin uncontrollably breaking out across my face.
I really did it! Me, an ordinary human, without any Contracts or crazy powers, beat a Demon, one of the strongest beings in the world!
"And the winner is Ilex Sarralot! What a match, and you can see how much it means to him by his reaction!"
Huh? O-oh, shit...I forgot, there are thousands of people watching. H-how...how embarrassing, I-I can’t believe I yelled like that with so many people around! I...I wanna disappear...
