Chapter 336: Chapter 336 - Quarter-Finals(Part 3)

"It’s time for the third quarter-final match, it’s the Demon Lord Satan vs the Fairy Elder Tania! We saw an upset in the previous match with the Demon Aratron defeated by Ilex Sarralot, are we in for any further surprises in the competition?"

"He has some nerve...," I chuckled in amusement, as I stepped onto the arena.

"You aren’t going to go easy on me, are you?" Responded my opponent with a wry smile.

"No, I will not. Your Spellcasting cannot be taken lightly, consider it a show of respect," I replied, as the barrier formed around us.

"Well, I’m honored. But that also makes me less confident in my chances here...oh, well, I suppose there’s nothing I can do about it but give it my absolute best," She sighed wistfully.

"Here’s the countdown! Ten! Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four! Three! TWO!!! ONE!!! ZEROOOO!!!!!"

My opponent was quick to act as the countdown ended, flying up and unleashing a barrage of wind-enhanced fireballs towards me.

I spread out my wings and took off into the air, evading the incoming fireballs and starting to fly towards her, before she swiftly unleashed an explosion of steam around herself, obscuring her from my vision...Fairies rarely grow to more than fifteen inches tall, and she appears to be around twelve inches or so.

With how small she is, it is much easier to lose sight of her than opponents of any other races, so this steam cloud is a highly effective move. I need to keep an eye out, her next attack could come from any direction...

Suddenly, a large boulder came shooting up towards me from below, I swiftly flew back to evade it, before my eyes widened in surprise as it burst into a thick, dusty cloud of black smoke, I let out a slight cough as I inhaled some of it, grimacing...I see, she cast an Enchantment onto it.

I then let out a stifled hiss as I felt a sharp pain across my left leg, looking down to see an earth projectile lodged into my calf...if she’d used fire or lightning, the glow would have let me see it coming, but since earth projectiles are dark, they’re harder to spot amidst all this smoke.

However, while my vision is obscured, so is hers, she cannot see me. Otherwise, she likely would have aimed for a more vital spot...I then noticed a couple more earth projectiles shooting past me, one grazing my hip and the other missing me entirely.

I then flew off to my left, emerging from the cloud of smoke and regaining visibility, looking around for my opponent before I spotted her down on the arena floor, her arms raised towards me with a gleam in her eyes...

"Gotcha," She smirked, as an immense force suddenly hit my entire body, sending me shooting up at a rapid speed, my back slamming onto the ceiling of the barrier with a jarring impact.

I-I see, while she was firing her earth projectiles at me in the smoke, she was simultaneously charging up a Wind Spell...her Spellcasting ability truly is impressive.

She then unleashed an intense burst of flames, which intensified as they mixed with the streaks of wind from her previous attack, which sped up the flames as the came fiercely roaring up towards me.

I swiftly swung my hands towards each other, clapping my palms together while simultaneously using my Magnify Impact ability, magnifying the force of my clap tenfold and unleashing a powerful shockwave, sending the flames shooting back down towards my opponent.

Her eyes widened in alarm before she quickly formed a dome of swirling water around herself, a hiss of steam ringing out as the flames collided against it, before I rapidly swooped down at top speed, slamming my feet onto the ground in front of her and using Magnify Impact again, triggering another shockwave as the tiles on the arena floor shattered to pieces, knocking my opponent off-balance as she scrambled to try and regain her bearings.

But it was too late, I had no intention of giving her the opportunity to do so...I then took aim at her and fired off a rapid Obliteration beam, which shot towards her with immense speed as she formed walls of earth in front of herself, which all instantly got vaporized by my beam, before starting to engulf her, triggering the barrier and teleporting her out before she could get wiped out by my attack.

"And after an aggressive, relentlessly attacking start, Tania is overwhelmed in a matter of seconds by the Demon Lord, who gave us a glimpse of his fearsome power!" The announcer’s voice rang out enthusiastically, as the crowd erupted into raucous cheers. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"Well, that was disappointing...I was just starting to think that I might actually stand a chance, too. If my flames had reached you at the end, I’d planned on unleashing a barrage of powerful Spells at you while you were still pinned to the top of the barrier," She sighed, as I walked off the arena.

"You put up an impressive fight, had you immediately attacked with fire or lightning instead of wind when I emerged from the smoke cloud, I would have had a more difficult time countering," I replied, as I stretched my arms up.

"I didn’t use fire or lightning because the glow would’ve given it away. Maybe I should’ve added some sharp earth and ice shards to the wind," She mused thoughtfully.

I see, she likely constantly thinks of new ways to improve and enhance her Spellcasting...I must say, this tournament has been very encouraging, the number of capable allies here in Arcadia has turned out to be more than I’d thought...
