Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 346 - Vampires(Part 1)
"Well, this isn’t good...maybe we should’ve kept a closer eye on what was happening in the Light Continent. But I suppose there’s no point in agonizing over something we can’t fix or change, it’s better if we just focus on how to deal with this going forward...if nothing else, at least we found out before it was too late," I sighed wistfully.
"Yes, this is quite a serious problem...while Lesser Vampires aren’t much of a threat individually, it’s a different story if we have to deal with an entire continent’s-worth of them," Responded Satan with a grimace.
Today was the 20th of Maius, 2021, a couple of days after Frielektra, Izzy and Liquaqua found Aereeze, who informed them about what the Vampires were upto in the Light Continent.
I met Aereeze yesterday, and after showing her around the nation and explaining what our objectives were, she agreed to join us, after I made it clear that she’d be free to live as she pleases here so long as she doesn’t hurt or attack anyone unprovoked.
After that, the others explained the situation in the Light Continent as Aereeze had told them, how the Vampires had taken over the entire continent.
And now, today, I decided to hold a meeting to discuss the matter with the Vampires and how to deal with it going forward...
"Wouldn’t it be possible to negotiate with them? Something like, ’we’ll leave you alone if you leave us alone’, at the very least, if an alliance is too much to ask for," I suggested hopefully.
"I highly doubt that will work, and I can’t even imagine them agreeing to an alliance...the Elder Vampires are a prideful bunch, they believe themselves to be the most superior beings in the world. Even though they acknowledge that we Demons, as well as the Dragon Kings, are powerful, they still see us as inferior to them. And they regard humans as little more than livestock...truth be told, the Elder Vampires are the main reason why the humans decided to eliminate all beings they classified as Demonic Grade Threats," Satan explained with a grimace.
"Indeed, we Dragon Kings were always relatively solitary beings, so we hardly ever interacted with humans to begin with. We didn’t exactly live in hiding as we did in the last couple of centuries, but we mostly kept to ourselves. But the Elder Vampires lorded over the humans, treating them as slaves who were at the mercy of their whims," Added Frielektra with a nod.
"I see...if that’s the case, I doubt there’s any chance that they would hear me out even if I did try to negotiate a compromise or something," I sighed in response.
"It isn’t just you, it’s highly unlikely that they would listen to us or the Demons either, we’ve had clashes against them in the past," Chimed in Aereeze.
"And while they are extremely prideful and arrogant, they are also quite shrewd and cunning. Despite their immense pride, they aren’t reckless or careless in their moves, they’ve always been cautious and calculating...that’s why they were able to lay low for so long, patiently waiting for an opportunity to make their move. It’s quite likely that they have spies in the Dark Continent as well, so it’s highly probable that they are aware of the situation. And if that’s the case, naturally, they will see Arcadia as the primary threat to their ambitions, assuming they do intend to take control of the entire world," Added Satan grimly.
"Just how powerful are they, anyway? Since Elder Vampires are also Demonic Grade Threats, are they about on the same level as the Demons and Dragon Kings?" I asked him.
"Yes, and no. They have certain strengths and weaknesses that set them apart from us...primarily, how their power is affected by the time of day it is. While the sun is out, they can only use about half their full power. In that state, they’re somewhat weaker than us. But at night, with their full power unleashed, they’re more powerful than we are. And during full moon nights, their power surges even further, so we must avoid clashing against them during full moons at all cost.
Other than that, they’re fairly similar to Demons, there are only two way to kill them...their only weak spot is a small, durable core than they can freely move about inside their bodies, one of the two ways to kill them is to destroy that core. The other option is to make them use up all their energy and then deal a fatal blow once their regeneration is taken out of the equation," Explained Satan grimly.
I see...so, unlike the fictional Vampires in my old world, the ones in this world don’t die when exposed to sunlight, but they are significantly weakened by it. In which case, if and when they move against the Dark Continent, they’ll do so at night, and likely during a full moon. Hm, I wonder if they have any other weaknesses...
"I remember reading a story in a library where a Vampire was killed by being stabbed through the heart with a wooden stake, and also that garlic is poisonous to them. I don’t suppose there’s any truth to that, is there?" I inquired with a wry smile.
"What? Er, no, I’ve never heard of such bizarre weaknesses," Satan shook his head in bemusement.
Yeah, I figured as much. Still, you never know, it might be worth trying out, at least.
"The Elder Vampires aren’t the sole threat here...if that was the case, this threat would be manageable. But there’s also the Vampires and Lesser Vampires to consider," Chimed in Lucifer...
