Chapter 375: Chapter 375 - Vampire Attack(Part 1)

I raced across as the Vampire fired off a barrage of explosive projectiles at me, a chain of explosions erupting fiercely behind me and blasting the ground to pieces, as chunks of dirt flew out all around.

She’s toying with me, she’s deliberately matching my pace and slowly turning up the intensity, bit by bit...she doesn’t even see me as a threat. And that’s fine by me...it just might give me an opening to exploit.

As another explosion burst out behind me, I swiftly spun around and fired out a massive blast of lightning towards her, which she veered across to her left through the air to evade, my blast shooting past her right side before I sent thirty of my blades zipping towards her with as much speed as I could generate.

She swiftly picked up her pace and flew across the air with immense speed, my blades unable to catch up to her as I chased her with them, before taking aim and firing out a rapid bolt of lightning at her.

Damn it...my blades move at about the same speed as she does, which means I can’t close the gap. Still, it also means that she can’t widen the gap...in which case, I need to find a way to slow her down and give my blades a chance to catch up.

As my lightning zipped up towards her, she locked her gaze onto it before taking aim and firing out an arrow of blood from her palm, which zipped down and collided with my lightning bolt, the attacks canceling each other out as a sharp sizzle rang out, a cloud of red mist bursting out from the point of impact, as my lightning evaporated her blood arrow. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

She then fired off a volley of explosions at my blades that were chasing after her, her projectiles erupting in the air and triggering powerful shockwaves to knock my blades away, before I sent twenty more of my blades shooting up towards her, leaving just ten around me...damn it, even if I do manage to slow her down, her explosions can blow away my blades once they start to close in. But I’m not done yet, I’ve still a trick up my sleeve!

She then came to a stop as my twenty blades shot towards her from below, the thirty that she’d blown away with her explosions zipping in as well from behind, before she swiftly unleashed a devastating explosion around her as a dark red glow emanated from her body, blowing my blades away before rapidly swooping down towards me.

"You’ve left yourself all but defenseless, human, time to die!" She exclaimed as she began to close in on me.

"You fell for it! It’s time I turned things up a notch...Soul Weapon Ascension: Justice Shards, TWENTYFOLD!!!" I exclaimed, her eyes widening as sixty more blades formed all around me.

"Shit-...!" She began in alarm as I sent all the newly formed blades shooting towards her.

She grimaced as several of them grazed her sides, a couple getting lodged into her torso as she halted and flew back as fast as she could, zipping up into the air as she pulled out the blades in her torso and tossed them away with an enraged, seething look on her face, before she rapidly veered across the air as I chased her with a hundred of my blades, keeping the remaining twenty of them around me for defense.

Considering how rare it is to achieve Soul Weapon Ascension, I never imagined that it could be raised to a greater level after I first mastered it...I have Ilex Sarralot to thank for this, he’s the one who made me realize that even Soul Weapon Ascension can be improved.

I’ve only just learned how to cast this more powerful version of my Soul Weapon Ascension, and I can’t maintain it for very long...I’ll just have to make sure I take her down before that I reach my limit!

She may be fast and powerful, but the speed at which I move my blades is more or less equal to her speed. And now that the number of my blades has doubled, it won’t be as easy to blow them all away with her explosions!

I’ll attack her with my Spells to try and slow her down, that should give my blades a chance to catch up to her. I can do this, I-...!

"Don’t get cocky, HUMAN!!!" She snapped furiously, my eyes widening in disbelief as she unleashed a massive, devastating wave of dozens of explosive projectiles, a dark red glow blanketing the sky above me before a deafening chain of explosions in rapid succession burst out, the force generation by the force of the eruptions blasting my blades away from her and triggering powerful gusts of wind, sending me stumbling back a few paces.

I then quickly backed away and gathered the blades I’d kept around me in front of myself as several explosions came barreling down towards me, hitting my blades and exploding with devastating force, blasting my defense away and knocking me back, sending me barreling towards the side of a nearby building as I lost control over my upgraded Soul Weapon Ascension, half my blades vanishing.

I then gritted my teeth and fired out a compressed burst of flames from my back, halting my momentum before I could crash onto the building, before stiffening up slightly as I spotted her swooping down towards me with immense speed.

I opened my mouth and unleashed a wide, blazing wave of flames up towards her, before my eyes widened in alarm as she flew right through the flames, her right arm bursting out and grabbing the top of my head, before flinging me off to my left with a powerful flick of her wrist.

I went hurtling through the air before my right shoulder slammed onto a car parked on the side of the road, the windows shattering upon impact as my shoulder got dislocated, several cuts appearing across my right arm and side from the shards of glass as the side of my head thudded against the frame of the vehicle.

My entire body was rattled and numb from the impact, as I shakily stumbled across in a daze, a trickle of blood running down from the right side of my head and matting down my hair around that spot as I tried to regain my bearings.

"It’s over for you, human!" She declared as my Soul Weapon Ascension faded, charging in towards me with a murderous look in her eyes as I shakily raised my sword up defensively in its base form, my vision blurring slightly as she closed in on me and began drive her claws towards my throat...right before a devastating blast of wind slammed onto her side and sent her flying away with a startled yelp.

She hit the ground and skidded away several meters, coming to a screeching halt across the dirt before she began to get back onto her feet with immense rage in her eyes, right as she promptly got knocked back down as a powerful, pressurized pillar of water came shooting down and slammed onto her, pinning her flat against the ground as deep cracks spread out across the dirt from the point of impact.

A dark red glow shone out from under the pillar of water, before a powerful explosion erupted from beneath it, chunks of dirt flying out as she zipped out from under the water pillar, her body covered in mud and dirt as she flew away with a furious look on her face.

"Who dares...!?" She exclaimed seethingly.

"You’re still as unpleasant as I remember, I see," Came a voice from behind me.

I glanced back in surprise, my eyes widening slightly...that appearance, she must be a Dragon King.

"Being covered in dirt suits you nicely, it’s a good look for you, Elder Vampire Jevera," Added the one who’d fired the water pillar, as she came flying down and landed on the ground.

Looks like another Dragon King...they must be the backup we requested from Arcadia, I’m guessing they’re the Wind and Water Dragon Kings. And they got here not a moment too soon, another fraction of a second and I’d probably be dead.

"Thank you, you saved me," I remarked gratefully, bowing my head to the Wind Dragon King.

"There’s no need for that, human. After all, we have a common enemy here, so it’s only logical that we combine our strength."

"Tch...how laughable! You pitiful lizards...you obviously realized that one of you wouldn’t stand a chance against me, so you decided to come with two of you!" Scoffed the Vampire, as I grabbed my right shoulder and popped it back into place, wincing slightly in pain.

"Well, now, that’s a funny thing to say. You attacked Terrastra with two of you, so by your logic, doesn’t that mean you realized that you wouldn’t stand a chance against her alone?" Responded the Water Dragon King with a taunting laugh.

"Huh? I...I will not be mocked by a lowly lizard! You will both die by my hand!" She snapped, before reaching behind her back and taking out an object as she declared, "You should be honored, I shall crush you will my full power! Now, come forth, moonlight barrier!"

I grimaced as a massive barrier formed around us, blocking out the sun and casting a pale glow within the area it enveloped...it’s massive, the radius of its range must be around five hundred meters, at least!

And it’s so dark, I won’t be able to see all that clearly even once my eyes adjust. Even if that wasn’t the case, I’d probably just get in the way...if the information we have is right, she’s now three times stronger than she was earlier.

The best I can hope to do is hang back and provide support to the Dragon Kings, while making sure that I don’t hold them back or get in their way.

There’s no point in getting frustrated about that, that isn’t going to help matters or magically make me stronger...I’ll clear my mind and focus on doing whatever I can to contribute. If nothing else, I can at least try to tip the scales even slightly more in our favor...
