Chapter 58: Chapter 58 - Productive Night

"Hm...dead already, huh? Guess just because I’ve experienced torture doesn’t make me a good torturer myself, too bad," I sighed wistfully, as I put away my Soul Weapon.

It took me about fifteen minutes to get him to talk...well, he was actually willing to talk pretty much right away, even before I began properly torturing him, but I decided to put him through the wringer a bit first.

Gotta say, it was pretty fun. And it’s the least he deserves, all things considered. Anyway, I got the names of all the Knights who were there that day in my village, along with the names of everyone else who was involved in it.

It’s a total of thirty-three people that are now on my list, including several members of the Royal family. It’ll probably be a while before I can realistically go after them...there’s no point in rushing it and getting myself killed, after all.

Now, then...I should probably return to the inn, before anyone spots me. I’ve got a lot of blood splatter on me...easy enough to fix. I then formed a ball of water above myself and let it splash down onto me.

I then closed my eyes and focused, attempting to gather all the water trickling down my body, and removing the blood in the process. I let out a sigh as I finished and opened my eyes.

Hm, not bad. I’ve gotten most of the blood off my clothes and skin, but my outfit is still a bit damp. Looks like I’ve still got a long way to go with my mastery over the Light Attribute Elemental Spells.

Okay, time to get back. I opened a portal and cautiously peered out, surveying the area...good, no one else is out here. There’s a big puddle of blood around the lower halves of the Knights that were still out here.

Not sure there’s much I can do about the blood, but if nothing else, I can at least get rid of the bodies. They might be useful as a distraction against Monsters, and if they’re too rotted to be used as bait I can just dump them somewhere after I leave this town.

I dropped them into my Pocket Dimension, before flowing out a steady stream of water to see if I could wash away the blood...oh, nice, there’s a drain by the corner, guess I can get rid of the blood after all.

Once I was done cleaning up the crime scene, I quietly climbed up to the roof of one of the nearby buildings, before making my way back towards the inn. It’s so quiet...honestly, I was half-expecting to see a bit of a commotion out here.

Looks like the woman who I saved from being raped and then ran away hadn’t called for help, maybe she just went straight home. Yeah, makes sense, the Guild closed at 11 PM, and after what she just went through, it’s only natural that she’d try to get home as soon as possible.

That said, she probably will report it in the morning or sometime during the day. I made sure she didn’t get a look at my face, and I entered my Pocket Dimension almost immediately after I landed in front of her. So it’s unlikely that she got a decent look at me.

As I arrived outside the window of the room I was staying in, I quietly opened it and snuck it, before shutting it and letting out a satisfied sigh. Gotta say, I’m pretty pleased with how I did out there.

I managed to give one of the bastards who attacked my village what he deserves, and I now know the names of everyone else that I intend to give the same treatment to.

Looks like Prysm’s fast asleep, good. She doesn’t need to know what I’m upto, nor do I intend on telling her. As far as I’m concerned, she’s only with me because she’s useful, her Skills will come in handy once she masters them.

So there’s no need for her to know anything that doesn’t directly concern her. Anyway, it’s pretty late now, I should probably get to sleep too. It might be suspicious if I’m sleepy and tired in the morning, especially if that woman reports the incident...

...

...

I let out a yawn as I stretched my arms out after sitting up, squinting a bit as a ray of sunlight streaming in through the window hit my eyes. Ahh, that was a good sleep, I feel really well-rested and refreshed right now.

Must be because I had a productive night in terms of my current goals, I did real good last night. I then glanced to my left, to see Prysm still asleep, snoring peacefully.

I then got out of bed and headed into the bathroom, taking a shower before applying the makeup over my scars and getting changed before coming back out into the room and glancing at the time. It’s 9 AM, not bad considering that I was out pretty late.

I checked out my face in the mirror to make sure the makeup wasn’t noticeable...nice, I did a pretty good job. It took a bit of trial and error to figure out how to apply it myself, and I’ve still got some room for improvement, but it’s not particularly noticeable, and blends with my skin tone pretty well. Way to go, me!

Alright, time to wake up the brat. I walked over towards her and shook her shoulder with a sigh...I’d dearly love to just splash a ball of water onto her face, but if she wakes up screaming or something, someone will probably hear her and realize I’m not alone.

"Come on, you stupid brat, wake up," I grumbled, smacking her face with the back of my hand a couple of times.

She let out a murmur as her brows furrowed, before her eyes slowly blinked open. She then sat up with a groggy yawn, drooling slightly as she brushed a few strands of hair out of her eyes.

"Good morning...," She muttered sleepily, as she let out another yawn.

"Time to get up and into the Pocket Dimension. I’ll put some food in for you a bit later, so hurry it up," I remarked, getting straight to the point.

I want to get outside and see if last night’s incident has caused any commotion amongst the townspeople, but I need her in my Pocket Dimension first.

Leaving her alone in the room probably won’t be too risky, but I know for sure that I’ll be highly anxious and paranoid about someone discovering her while I’m out. So, this is mostly for my own peace of mind.

"Huh? Already?" She groaned in dismay.

"Come on, I’m in a hurry. You know the drill, so quit your complaining already, would you?" I sighed in exasperation.

"Wait, hold on, at least let me go to the bathroom and get changed," She protested, as she hopped off the bed, her legs wobbling slightly before she jogged over to the bathroom.

Well, fine, I suppose that much is reasonable. Don’t want her making a mess inside my Pocket Dimension, after all.

"Be quick about it, I don’t have all day," I called out, as she began to shut the bathroom door.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it," She muttered with a huff.

"And don’t sass me."

Shortly after that, she exited the bathroom, having changed and tidied up her hair, before reluctantly entering my Pocket Dimension, grumbling the whole time. Finally, that took too long.

I then left the room and locked the door, before heading out the inn. As I walked outside and began making my way through the street, I glanced around at the passersby.

Hm, no one seems to be particularly on edge or anything, strange. Maybe the report wasn’t made, after all? I mean, the streets are less crowded, but that’s most likely simply because the Knights are in town.

But I don’t feel any added tension from the people I’m walking past...hm, I should probably head to the Guild after getting something to eat. I then headed towards a small bakery after being drawn in by the tantalizing scent of freshly baked bread, and bought some sausage rolls and minced beef pastries.

As I left, I put a few into my Pocket Dimension for Prysm after making sure that the coast was clear. I ate as I made my way towards the Guild, finishing my food right as I arrived outside the entrance. Wow, that was good! I think I’ll buy some more on the way back.

I headed inside the Guild, grimacing slightly as I spotted a woman by the reception desk...it’s the Knight Commander, Aries Velenet. She doesn’t look very pleased, a sour expression on her face.

She’s speaking to Rosary, but she’s also keeping her voice low so that no one else could hear what she’s saying. As I quietly headed for a table and took a seat, I pretended to scratch behind my ears as I activated Super Hearing, in order to cover the Magic Circles that appear over my ears using my hands.

"...completely disappeared without a trace, so we plan to look for them. But we will probably end up scaring the people of the town, so I would like to request that the Guild inform the people before we begin our search. We will begin in approximately one hour from now, I do apologize for the short notice," Remarked Aries, her voice sounding strained.

"Understood, we will inform the people promptly. However, I would like to request an assurance than no harm will come to any of them," Responded Rosary firmly.

Damn, she’s got balls, speaking to a Noble like that. Then again, she saw what Aries is like yesterday, so she probably realizes that she can get away with this much without any consequences.

"Yes, of course. You have my word, we will not harm any innocent people. If any of the Knights under my command break this promise...I swear on my honor that I shall execute them right before you," Declared Aries without hesitation.

Oh, damn. She really said that.

"Oh, uh...okay, then. I’ll take your word for it."
