Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 63 - Execution(Part 2)
What? No way...she can use Soul Weapon Ascension!? I thought it takes several decades of training to be able to use, but she can’t be much more than ten years older than I am!
Oh, and those two Knights are dead, killed pretty much a second after she ascended her Soul Weapon. It was literally a blink and you miss it type of thing, it was over in an instant.
Her Soul Weapon in its base state forms six floating blades around her which she can control telekinetically...and the ascended form multipled that by ten, giving her a total of sixty floating blades.
I’m basing that on her chant, I didn’t actually count the number of blades. I mean, even if I wanted to, there’s just no way I could’ve done so in that brief instant. She’s stronger than I thought...yeah, if my first encounter with her had been a fair fight, she’d have totally crushed me. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"I apologize for that unseemly display. We’ll be taking the bodies back to be buried in the capital, I trust you have no objections?" Stated Aries, as her Soul Weapon disappeared.
"Uh, what-...I mean, yes, of course not. We have no objections," Rosary shook her head in response.
"In that case, we will leave this town right away. On behalf of my subordinates, I truly apologize for all the trouble we caused," Apologized Aries with a bow, before picking up the bodies of the Knights she’d executed after using fire to burn their wounds and stop the bleeding.
With that, she and the remaining Knights headed back up the stairs to the hall of the Guild, as the Adventurers followed after then. Looks like she’s forgotten about the Knights I killed last night...or at least, she isn’t pursuing their disappearance for the time being.
Well, assuming they do return to this town at some point to search for them again, I’ll be long gone by then. Them heading back to the capital goes a bit against what I’d hoped for, but it’s still a pretty decent outcome.
I doubt they suspect that I’m the one they’re looking for...and thanks to the general negative opinion towards Nobles that most, if not all, Commoners have, it’s unlikely that I’ll have to worry about any of the Adventurers selling me out to the Knights.
Speaking of the Adventurers, they all look pretty relieved now, since the remaining Knights are leaving...they’d look pretty shocked after seeing Aries kill those two Knight, but they seem to be over it now. As I mingled among them while making our way up the stairs, I heard them mutter to each other...
"It’s about time, they’re finally leaving."
"I know, right? Honestly, I don’t think they made up for the innocent people they killed, but at least they didn’t completely get away with it. And seeing a Knight killing other Knights was kind of cathartic."
Oh, yeah, I definitely agree with that wholeheartedly.
"Well, I’m just glad we can finally get back to focusing on Monster exterminations, I hope they haven’t multiplied too much."
Ah, that’s right, I almost forgot about the Monster outbreaks that have been plaguing this town...wonder how they plan to deal with the Basilisk?
Guess it doesn’t really matter, I’ve already firmly made up my mind to stay away from that area. I know that taking risks will be the most effective way to gain experience and get stronger, but some risks just aren’t worth taking.
As we got to the hall of the Guild, I pondered my options...should I take a quest now? I doubt I’ll be in this town for more than a couple more days at the most...no, I think I’ll wait and see until the Knights have actually left before deciding.
Until then, my best option is probably to lay low in my room at the inn, I’ll be able to see them leave from in there, after all.
I then quietly slipped out of the Guild while everyone was still preoccupied with the whole thing with the Knights, heading back in the direction of the inn once I headed out the front entrance.
I walked slowly, since the Knights are probably just up ahead of me...their hotel is in the same direction, after all, I’d rather not bump into them if I can help it.
Fortunately, by the time I made it to the inn, I hadn’t caught so much as a glimpse of them, and wasted no time in going into the inn and then heading back up to my room.
I flopped onto the bed with a sigh as I entered and locked the door, rolling around to gaze up at the ceiling. It’s been a pretty good couple of days. Not only did I confirm the effectiveness of my disguise, I also discovered that my Soul Weapon isn’t easily recognizable if I shrink the whip part.
And the cherry on top, I killed three Knights, got a ton of the information I’ve been searching for and as a bonus, got to watch a Knight kill two other Knights. Seeing a Soul Weapon Ascension was nice too, it’s been a productive time for me in this town.
I then opened my Pocket Dimension and took out my map, opening it up and skimming it, particularly the areas around this town. Definitely avoiding the south, where that lake with the Basilisk is residing in.
There’s Budh Village to the southeast, but it’s on the edge of that lake, so I’ll avoid that too. To the north is more of that forest I traveled through, which extends from the west to the north of this town.
And to the northeast is a mountain range, which has recently been sighted with numerous Monsters. Yeah, avoiding that too. To the east is a small forest, with a clear, open grassland between that forest and the mountain range further towards the north.
That grassland is probably the easiest route for me to take, and if I stick to the edge of the forest, I should have access to food in case of an emergency. I do plan to take some non-perishable food with me before I leave this town, but you never know what could happen.
Water, on the other hand, is not a concern...both Prysm and I can produce water with Magic thanks to our Light Attributes, so there’s no need to carry any water bottles or whatever with us.
Huh, and speaking of Prysm, she’s been in my Pocket Dimension for quite a while now, I almost forgot about her. I should probably let her out soon, shouldn’t I?
I don’t really want to, but...if I leave her in there too long and she needs to use the bathroom...well, let’s not think about that. I let out a reluctant sigh as I opened my Pocket Dimension to let her out...so much for my peace and quiet, it was nice while it lasted.
"F-finally, I was about to burst!" She exclaimed in alarm, leaping out of the portal and rushing towards the bathroom.
"Keep your voice down," I called after her with a sigh, as she slammed the door shut.
Looks like my timing was good, that could’ve gotten ugly.
"Hey, what took so long?" She grumbled, as she walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later.
"Some stuff came up at the Guild, I only just got back to the inn," I shrugged in response.
"What happened?" She asked me curiously, as she walked over and sat on the bed.
"Well, it started with the Knights requesting to make a search...," I began, before explaining the rest of what had happened earlier.
Normally, I wouldn’t indulge her, but I did leave her in my Pocket Dimension for a pretty long time, so I guess I’ll play nice to make up for it. Don’t get the wrong idea, I’m just taking measures to make sure she doesn’t come to resent me.
"Woah...so, Miss Aries really killed those two Knights?" She responded wide-eyed, as I concluded my explanation.
"Mhm, sure did," I nodded, as I got up and headed for the window as I heard some faint voices outside, "Ah, speak of the devil, there she is right now."
"Oh, let me see," She replied, walking over and peering through the glass.
The windows are tinted on the outside, so people outside can’t see us...otherwise, I’d have pushed her away from the window. After all, if Aries sees and recognizes her, it’s all over.
"Looks like they wrapped up the bodies in plastic sheets. Guess it wouldn’t make sense to take the corpses back as they are, especially since they’ll start to decay," I laughed in amusement.
"I don’t get your sense of humor, how does this make you laugh? Still, it’s nice to see her, even if it from a distance...she was always really nice, I like her," She sighed wistfully.
"Heh, how much do you bet that she won’t be so nice to you know that you developed the Light Attribute instead of Dark?" I smirked in response.
"Did you have to ruin it?"
