Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 308: He Is Your Most Important Person, What About Me
Leona Grant shot her a cold glance and turned to leave.
Annabelle Linton clenched her fists, her composure shattered. She stood behind him and roared, "Leona Grant, do you really have to be like this with me?! When we were married, you were cold and distant. Now that we’re divorced, you refuse to let go. What in the world do you want?!"
Leona Grant spun around and snarled back, "So what if I’m trying to care for you and treat you well now? Can’t I make up for my past mistakes? Why won’t you give me a chance?!"
"Why should I give you a chance? Why do you think you can just do whatever you want? Wouldn’t it be better if we just went our separate ways? Why do you insist on tormenting me like this?!"
Leona Grant let out two angry laughs, a hurt glint flickering in his icy eyes. "So, in your eyes, me locking him up and teaching him a lesson is tormenting *you*?"
"Yes! He’s the most important person in my life, and I won’t allow anyone to hurt him for any reason!"
Hearing her words, Leona Grant’s eyes turned bloodshot, and his voice rose uncontrollably. "He’s the most important person to you? Then what about me?! At the hospital, I was shot three times, and he was shot twice! You took care of him for a month without sparing me a single glance. Do you know how much that hurt me?!"
As he spoke, it was as if all his strength was suddenly drained away. His voice grew hoarse, and then he started to laugh.
"That’s right. How could you possibly have the time? You spent every moment on him! Shopping with him, eating with him, watching movies with him... Where would you find the time to even spare me a charitable glance? Annabelle Linton, why do you have to keep ignoring me?!"
Annabelle Linton looked at him, a laugh threatening to burst out. "Are you sick in the head? I can’t even stand you, and you expect me to look at you? Who are you to me that I should waste my time on you? Don’t tell me you’re so brazen because you still think I’m that same love-struck idiot I used to be? How pathetic!"
Leona Grant froze.
Pain and sorrow flashed in his bloodshot eyes. He slowly clenched his fists, closing his eyes to suppress the hurt and rage.
’You already heard her say it with your own ears—that Aaron Wyatt is the most important person to her, and you’re the person she despises most. Why are you still so foolishly holding onto the hope that she might look back at you?’
’It’s been a month since the divorce. She’s been so carefree and vibrant, all smiles and stylish clothes, while you’ve been a wreck—lost and dejected. Isn’t that enough to show how little she cares about you, how much she loathes you?’
’Leona Grant, are you a fool?’
’She doesn’t love you. Why do you insist on humiliating yourself like this?’
Leona Grant snapped out of it, his ice-cold eyes masking the sorrow hidden within.
He sneered, changing the subject. "Whatever. As for Aaron Wyatt... he’s the reason you were so dead set on divorcing me. I have no intention of letting him off easy, so don’t come asking me to release him."
His heart ached to the point of numbness; he no longer even had the strength to face her.
Having said his piece, he turned to leave.
Annabelle Linton’s fists tightened in fury. Deciding to throw all caution to the wind, she demanded, "Just tell me directly, what is it you want!"
Leona Grant continued walking, ignoring her.
Annabelle Linton stood behind him, head bowed and fists clenched, a dark aura radiating from her. She screamed, "Fine! Then just kill him! If you kill him, I’ll die too! He’ll be dead because of me, and if he dies, I won’t live on without him!"
As if afraid he didn’t believe her, Annabelle Linton added, "I mean it!"
Leona Grant stopped in his tracks, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
He then turned around and took two menacing steps toward her.
Annabelle Linton watched him approach, unmoving.
